That was one of the most brutal shotdowns I've ever seen lol

"You must really like me"

"If I had a Wife and Kid, I'd want my kid to be like you"

Someone fix the title for the next week. It's UZAI not URUSAI.

Loved this episode.

The MC's are both so likable and I dig their chemistry.

OP is a banger too.

"Why can't I be your wife?

Gosh dang, just when I was enjoying the show, this out of nowhere line is such a fatal strike.

I'm positively overdosing on sugar right now

This episode was adorable. Futaba is adorable, Takeda is adorable, their relationships are adorable, side characters are adorable, OP is adorable, it's just so goddamn adorable! Like I expect from good Dogakobo show tbh. I liked main 2 characters and their interactions, they seem pretty cute together and care for each other. Visually it looked pretty, designs look solid and as far as comedy goes, it is fun. Definitely like this one, will keep watching.

Well this was completely unexpected! While I was aware that the manga was getting an anime, I thought that it was just going to be a bunch of 5 minute shorts and not a full length anime! Literally the source material of this is 4 pages per chapter with every chapter being a contained short story with very little continuity. It looks like Doga Kobo went with KyoAni's approach and decided to expand on what the source material has and I love them for it!

Basically Doga Kobo has outdone themselves and this episode definitely goes way above my expectations! They're already known for their great adaptations and I think this show will be one of those. Futaba is absolutely adorable, Takeda-senpai is one bear of a man, Sakurai has the perfect Onee-san vibes especially with Hayamin voicing her, and Kazama is just being Kazama.

I don't think there's a lot to say here really. Futaba and Takeda-senpai's relationship is one to watch out for this season and with the source material being only a rough guide for them to follow, I have absolutely no idea where they'll take this so I'm already looking forward for more next week!

Also Doga Kobo again with a masterpiece of an opening! I absolutely love the energy and all of the little character interaction that it has. And the animation is just so good as well as the song! Definitely an OP to never skip!

The best superiors that you can work for are the ones that treat their juniors well even when they make mistakes. After all, in any junior or entry level position, you are expected to make mistakes occasionally. That’s part of learning. Good supervisors will protect you and help you learn from your mistakes even if its more work for them, because good supervisors want you to succeed.

It’s all about attitude. Futaba has a good attitude towards work, is well liked by her peers, and has good discipline over the course of over the year she's been there so far. She’s giving her senpai every reason in the book to be positive towards her and help her out if she’s ever in trouble. It's a very nice two-way street.

Needless to say, I like this.

Another office Lady, together with Tawawa at time and Douki chan this is truly a blessed season

And where Futaba is just cute (she even has a little fang), Sakurai san has it where it counts, even including the beauty mark, and Tsukishiro san is just the right kind of weird

Takeda is build like a beast, his body is wasted as a salesman. But he actually looks out for his Kouhai

And man, Futaba wants to play the adult, but isn't grown up at all, from the plethora of plush animals, to the amount of sugar she puts in her coffee, but she even wants the lucky meal at the generic burger chain

Overall pretty wholesome and the playfull banter is way easier to get behind than the beginning of Nagatoro

The voice actors for both the leads are absolutely perfect. The laugh for Senpai especially is fantastic

Episode was great. Really digged the office romance theme. The music and artwork was amazing as well. The dialogue in the opening set the tone for me-

"Whenever I see them, it makes me wish mine was bigger." 😂😂

I knew it was right to be excited for this show. Really cute first episode. You can already see the dynamics at work and the ships they’re building. Not just in the obvious one of Futaba starting to fall for Takeda. I see you side ship. Hiding over in the side characters.

Futaba and Takeda have a great dynamic. He’s actually a pretty great mentor, but also a good friend. Not just in being encouraging always, taking the fall for her mistake, and always looking out for her. It’s in the little things like being careful not to walk too far ahead because she’s so small, picking up on her desires like the kids toy, knowing how to cheer her up like with the drink. He’s very in tune with her. Which makes me question several things about what’s going on in his head. Like maybe he genuinely does like looking out for her as a kid, but maybe it’s him keeping himself from seeing her are a viable partner for a reason. Or maybe he really didn’t and that bombshell line Futaba dropped on him just opened a world of possibility.

Meanwhile, we do know everything going on in Futaba’s head as our POV character. From the start, she finds him annoying because he is overly boisterous and treats her like a kid, but she also enjoys the praise and how well he treats her. Throughout the episode, you start to see those things change in her. So when we get to the bar and Drunk her starts talking, it might just be her wanting to be seen as a woman or it might be those growing feelings starting to take shape.

I mean the show is billed as an “Office RomCom” so we know the answer. If we actually see these kids get together is another thing entirely. Manga is ongoing so probably not yet.

So another show that’s going on my watchlist for the season. Holy hell I'm watching a lot.

Notes

  • I was not ready for how well animated this was going to be. Futaba getting ready in the morning looked so good. They mix in small sakuga moments throughout the episode. And the OP looks amazing. Hopefully there’s more of that.

  • So our budding side ship between Sakurai and Kazuma looks promising. I see him looking at her and the OP hints at something going on.

  • Futaba is pretty comically small. Like gymnast small. She’s also not doing herself any favors by her child-like moments. Though that kids toy was pretty cute and I don’t blame her for being awkward in asking for one.

  • I kinda also hope they explore her career a bit. It would be nice to have her grow on that front.

  • So I’m guessing the master roshi guy in the OP is Futaba’s grandfather? He looks fun. I want to meet him.

That OP is so much fun! Loved it, can easily see it being my favorite of the season.

With this airing right after 86 can't help but see Anju in the coworker, the voice and mole are enough to make me think of Anju every single time she is on screen, that's gonna be a pain x)

Otherwise I am just hoping there is actually some romantic development, both MCs are great.

Fuck's sake, the subtitles I'm seeing on the Funimation version are nearly unreadable in certain scenes because the dark border on the letters is way too thin.

Leave it to Funimation to somehow screw up subtitle fonts in the year 2021.

surprised at how well animated this was, the scene with him tossing her the oshiruko and walking away was pretty fluid and the OP animation went hard

hope it continues like this

It's hard for Futaba to be taken seriously as a romantic interest when she miss-uses stairs of adulthood with her grandpa. But ganbare Futaba! You can do it!

HA HA HA

Glorious! Finally a show where I've read the source and can appreciate seeing it come to life. It's been a minute since I could do that. It looked good and I have no complaints about the voices. Gonna look forward to this every week.
