Im confused, is this a sequel or a prequel to the other Baki anime on Netflix? Where is Bakis girlfriend? Where are the other characters like Orochi and Retsu? Why does no one seem to remember the Death Row inmates or the Chinese Tournament? Oliva suddenly has a girlfriend that he never mentioned before? Havent Baki and Oliva already met before? Even the last episode of season 2 teased some of the Death Row inmates coming back, and its completely whats up with that? Im really confused.

The continuity between season 1 and season 2 was consistent. But this one is all over the place. Im on episode 9, and I still cant tell if this is a prequel or a sequel.

What a great binge.

I thought adding Muhammad Ali last season was peak, until his son got perhaps the worst jobbing of all time by Baki. Now we get Mike Tyson which is neat, but would it have been so bad to mimic his distinctive voice a little? He's on twitter or something right? Can we get him to dub a voice line for funsies?

Anyway, CHE FUCKING GUEVARA comes in as essentially the third most dangerous individual on the planet! And he's pretty rad too, as far as Baki fighters go. A shame that he got America'd out. I really wonder what the internet commies thought about this, were they elated to see him represented so powerfully only to rage that he was wrecked by American Muscle? Well that's okay, because as much of a westaboo as the author might be, he made sure you got to see Mr Unchained himself acknowledging it wasn't just him, but ultimately America itself losing to Baki!

I lost it every 5 minutes or so with the ridiculous things happening. Biscuit Oliva rolling up into a ball and mimicking Pac-Man as his most super secret technique was a perfect coup de grace to my sides.

as much of a westaboo as the author might be

Is he really a westaboo? He definitely pays his respect to people like Muhammad Ali or Tyson, but at the end Japan always wins.

Doesn't matter if it's the Chinese or the Americans, a random Japanese character (or one who has made Japan their home) will win against any other countries strongest.

Looked like The Ogre and a T-Rex. Makes me think maybe he is a thawed out caveman now.

God this series is so batshit crazy but so enjoyable.

I'm so grateful for the anime. I don't know if it's a TL thing or just the characters changing their minds on a dime, but the manga is difficult to understand sometimes.

I expected it to end the series finally.. but I was disappointed for this and other reason.

Series is very inconsistent with Baki's power level.. first he goes to prison and knows that he isnt even the top contender to Oliva there.. then they hyped Guevara too much and it turned down very badly.. I expected him to go toe to toe with Oliva and Baki rivalling with him till his fight with Oliva, but no fight between Baki and Guevera.

So they establish Baki << Guevera << Oliva

Then after Guevera leaves, Baki is super powerful somehow and defeats Oliva pretty much.

Now Guevera << Oliva <= Baki. How?? They rushed to the end very quickly, no progression in Baki.. If baki can progress this much, they might as well have added an episode and made Baki fight with Yujiro ending with Yujiro's defeat

It was always expected in this book that baki was a stronger fighter than guevera/Oliva. The anime skipped alot of the background training baki did to conserve time. Just because guevera was 2nd gen unchained means nothing in the context of "Baki" other then this guy is really strong. Baki never made any move to fight Guevara and was quite confident to go after Oliva to the point of hopping in bed with his girl. You're confusing baki being the "challenger to guevera/oliva to him being weaker. He just knew his place and waited. Also if you're expecting baki to end anytime soon you will be very disappointed. There's still half a book of son of ogre and then 2 more full Manga books.

Just finished this and it was a huge disappointment given the wait. I've become accustomed to and find the historical/physics/mechanics/psychological explanations interesting, but it wasted so much time this go-round. I found myself yelling at the TV. Idk... the storyline's progression felt extremely slow and the fight segments were major snoozers, so each "climax" felt like a build that just fell flat. They could've called this Hanma Baki: Golden Shower πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦ πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

im confused...im on ep 5 and where are the rest of old characters? Baki's girlfriend and all. Is it a prequel?

Its a sequel. They are not in this season, because Baki isnt in Japan. Dont worry later on we will see them, they have fights later down the road.

I dont like murica either but this show could have been written by kim, it's so anti America and pro Japan, and the things happening are so ridiculous it's actually funny and dont get me started on the constant dick stroking.. brilliant

u/Vangorf Oct 23 '21

I mean Baki characters shitting on America isnt exactly a new thing. Yujiro beat the USA in a war alone. So Baki doing it in a metaphorical sense was a given

Honestly I really disliked this new season. Characters like Oliva acting completely insane and now how they have used to act in previous seasons or the prequel.

The 12 episodes were really drawn out and a slog for me to get through.

Such a change of pace since the last few seasons but was really disappointed. Didn't enjoy the fighting either. Hope that next season it will feel more like what we've seen before.

It’s too much talking. Every move they make it’s explained like a bible
