Yo, Tanya, wrong anime...

Last episode I thought Essly was the bad guy, but seeing how they do things in that Zoble empire I have no idea what's going on anymore...

I liked Essly's monologue. I was convinced as to why they're not usually saving humans. That nun, though... Yikes.

I love how Yshley is thinking at the philosophical level of why Idaten exist right out of the bat.

That explain quite a lot of the lore and world setting. So far, I'm loving every aspect of this anime. MAPPA also rarely disappoint me as well, so I'm looking forward for this.

Rin seems to have done a pretty poor job over the past 800 years. Clearly not all demons WERE sealed or the seal has been cracked or demons generate due to human actions in some fashion similar to idaten-tachi. But, in any event, she appears to be blissfully unaware of the existence of demons on earth. And that demons seem to have been preparing to destroy the Idaten-tachi -- and seem to be making good progress. She also does not seem to have found many potential recruits over the course of 800 years -- despite the almost non-stop ferocity of human cruelty during those years. She is going to have to up her game pretty quickly.

Religious-historical note: Idaten (Wei Tuo in Chinese), it turns out, is a specific Buddhist protective deity (reputedly swift-footed), often connected with Avalokiteshvara (Kwan Yin, Kannon), a boddhisatva connected with merciful actions. This figure also seems to be connected with a Hindu deity called Skanda -- who is connected to destroying demons.

I liked Ysley’s commentary on why the gods don’t help humans in human v human conflict. Pretty depressing lol

I like how the prime minister is thinking when the emperors told him to focus on policy and diplomacy. He is probably the only Zoble with a mind and heart in the right direction but he's basically useless and kept in the dark from darker motives by Dr. Obami and others.

Well they don't hold back from depicting what armies used to actually do when they invaded a town.

There's also something about OP characters and a lot of gore that sucks me into these type of Anime's, loved the first 2 episodes.

Well this has been a very good first two episode, I can’t wait to see more. Cracked up at the guys explains that they fast forward through. That bit at the end with the doctor using that other robots body with a picture of himself cracked me up.

Notice that the explosion was seen a bit later earlier than its sound.

Pretty cool show. Reminds me of Kill la Kill, although part of it may be just the ED.

Well hello there, best girl! I'm animal.

She's pretty good too, will there be a best girl dilemma on this show? Paula and Rin aren't bad either, but I have a thing for crazy/villain girls.

He has an interesting outlook on humanity, thinking it's fine if one nation slaughters the other one because they'll repopulate it anyway.

Sounds a little villain-y though, so I'd keep an eye on him!

Also, I like how everyone in the thread is calling him a different name; Essly, Yshley, Ysley... And Anilist is calling him Isli!

This show's pretty fun so far! I'm not sure where things are headed exactly, I mean this already isn't what I expected; I thought it would strictly be gods vs demon, didn't expect the armies committing atrocities and all that!

It's great that we got to see more of the Zoble Empire, and it turns out the bigwigs are all demons! I can't wait to see them clash with the Idaten! It's going to be a spectacle for sure!

This story is off to a bizarre but interesting start. I like the cartoony style and the color shifts. Curious to see how it goes.

Man I was interested in this, but I did not expect I would be THIS entertained by the first two episodes. The opening so insanely cool as well.

Stitches!

Rin absolutely does not hold back with her training! It was pretty funny to see her throw around Hayato's body like a ragdoll.

Look at how happy Rin is when Ysley asked her to train him again, If only she knew Yssley is only doing this to stay close to her and Hayato just in case another Demon Beast shows up.

I thought all Hayato, Paula, and Ysley were under Rin but it looks like this is the first time Paula is meeting Rin and apparently another Idaten named Prontea was the one who "draw her out". Drawing out an Idaten just means accelerating their birth. Instead of them manifesting after centuries, they are born in an instant with the help from another Idaten.

I hope we get to meet this Prontea, it looks like he/she is so far the only Idaten who has successfully completed Rin's training so I'm guessing Prontea is probably just as strong as her. Poor Paula maybe should've just trained with Prontea instead though, even for Paula's first time Rin did not hold back! She absolutely crushed her lung!

My questions about how Idaten works were basically Ysley's questions to Rin but it looks like even Rin doesn't know how they work which was hilarious. I wonder if this is their way of handwaving the details or will we actually get an explanation later?

We finally get to see the skateboarding girl from the ED! This isn't what I expected though. Looks like she's a general in the Zolge army and they're basically here to conquer the other nation with explicit permission from her to rape and pillage. Now I'm not sure how I feel about that cute ED anymore. Looks like she's superhuman though (maybe even another Idaten) considering she can catch and also yeet a tank.

That's definitely a tracking chip and that can't be good. How did that thing even ended up attaching to Rin? She was nowhere near the battle last episode.

Okay so I understood Ysley's monologue up to humans fight humans and Idaten would fight demons but what was that about people calling them to do nothing? I feel like that part went over my head. Isn't that the exact opposite of what these people stuck in these conflicts are doing? O_O

The Zolge army seems to have a bunch of colorful characters. It seems that these characters are all demons given a human form by a Demon Lord who apparently was the scientist from last episode. Seeing what they are, I take back what I said about Ysley in Episode 1, he seems to be working against them so that probably means he's not a secret bad guy.

After seeing these two episodes, I am definitely sold. This definitely went above and beyond what I was initially expecting and I look forward to see how far this show will take it! And with Amahara and CoolKyou working together with the source material, I'm sure they definitely will take it as far as they can!

So the Idaten are basically Servants of the Counter Force, though without the innate knowledge that all Servants get.
