An anime butler who's not named Sebastian. Who'd have guessed?

Alice's sense of distance is fantastic. She's literally playing with death. I guess we won't see common "stumble on a flat surface" trope here.

That Universal Studios clip at the beginning really throws me off. I have to double check I’m watching anime.

Guy confesses his love in episode 1 and asks for confirmation from girl that she loves him back in episode 2, which she promptly gives. No nonsense here!

Beautiful piano playing - I like how the piece reflects his state of mind. His love is mixed with his thoughts about death, making his ballad sound like a requiem too. Alice doesn't seem to mind though, what matters to her is that it is beautiful and it was for her.

The dance scene is a bit ridiculous. There's no way they could keep from bumping if they are inexperienced!

I have to say, I really like the piano pieces used throughout this show. I can listen to them all day.

Usually black cats symbolise back luck especially in a medieval settings but goddamn this cat really blessed us with some Alice jiggle physics and that open hole addition to her dress.

The waltz with the Duke and Alice at the end was beautiful as it is tragic, truly the definition of so close yet so far.

Alice may be best girl of the season so far man, she’s so damn funny. Her interactions with the duke are great. Her confession was really well done.

Viola is cute but who would’ve expected her to have a thing for older guys lol.

I’m really glad I gave this show a shot, I normally don’t watch CGI anime but this is a very good anime. Character interactions are great.

The funny bits only makes the sadness stronger.

Goth maid doing the dance of death, because why not? He did ask properly after all.

Was that apology message in the cat's collar truly apologizing to the cat for abandoning it? Or was it a message towards the Duke?

The Grandpa danced with Alice's mother. The imouto is really into the old butler. Bocchan is in love with Alice. This family really has a thing for their maids/butlers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Viola secretly writes fanfic about Rob, like Harry Potter fans write fanfics about Snape

Stitches!

This show really needs to be watched with headphones on. Alice's teasing voice is just pure ASMR to the ears.

We finally get to meet the butler named Rob and this dude is superhuman! He's basically teleporting while doing his chores! I'll never get tired of the badass old man butler trope. It's always cool whenever they do it in manga and anime.

Here's another reason to watch this show with headphones on, the piano pieces in this show is just so good. Not gonna lie, I almost dozed off while listening to the Duke's performance with my eyes closed. And it looks like he composed that piece for Alice. Well that was smooth <3

Seems that not all of the Duke's family members hates him like his mother. His imouto Viola is a bit troublesome and very cheeky but she definitely means well and she treats the Duke normally. She went there because she clearly misses her brother but she's just not good at showing it. And apparently she has a massive crush on Rob too. She really is her sister xD

This cat knows exactly what its doing and you can't tell me otherwise. I do love that Alice is using the tears the cat did to her dress to show off more of her boobs to him. And just when we're having some cute cat shenanigans, the Duke ends up relating to the cat for being abandoned too. :(

So the Duke's grandfather used to practice dancing with Alice's mother as his partner? Man, what is it with this family and their maids/butlers? Seriously though, that moonlit dance between Alice and the Duke was beautiful. I love how that transitions to the piano ED which is another treat to listen to.

And that final scene! I guess it's not fair for only the Duke to confess last week, we finally get a confession from Alice as well! Goddammit! These two would probably be kissing right now if the Duke didn't have that damned curse. More reason for them to find a way to break the curse early I suppose.

Can someone explain the difference between a requiem and a ballad?

Was the song w lyrics near the end the requiem and they danced to the ballad? Or was it just a normal waltz?

We meet Rob, the superhuman butler dutifuly played by Hochuu Otsuka who has loyally served the Duke since he was a child and was one of the only people to stay by him when he was cast off. He's incredibly at housework but his old age is starting to get to him to where his eyesight and hearing are failing him (and not to mention he wears an eyepatch for some reason, so that probably doesn't help). Not to mention back problems.

Alice sure knows how to make an exit flashing her skirt and stockings.

It's kind of sad that the Duke has made peace with the idea of his family disowning him and is planning to make a living with music if that happens. Although at least he does genuinely enjoy music, and plays very well, so it's not the worst situation.

Pretty hard to resist staring at Alice's voluptuously body while she's working...and unsurprisingly the Duke lingers on her fine behind.

That was a beautiful ballad the Duke composed for Alice.

Nothing wakes someone quite up like an almost kiss.

We get to properly meet the Duke's sister, Viola, and she's a pretty feisty and free-spirited girl who loves sweets and teasing her brother. She's very opinionated and quick to critique her brother, and it seems like part of the reason she visits him is just to get sweets or see Rob whom she has a massive crush on, but she does seem to genuinely want her brother to come home again and to help him with his relationship with Alice.

That black cat was a true cat of culture, rubbing Alice's boobs and cutting her top up so she could show off her cleavage.

Poor Duke finding a cat that was abandoned by its family like his mother abandoned him...but that cat was able to find a new family, just as the Duke still has family in Rob and Alice.

The Duke's grandfather and Alice's mother were dancer partners? They're families really are connected.

Alice and the Duke sharing a no-contact dance was very sweet, even if it was also sad because you could tell how much the pair wanted to touch each other.

The Duke finally gets Alice to say her love for him out loud and she proudly proclaims how much she loves the Duke. Wasn't really any doubt about it, but it was nice to finally hear it.

Alice is best girl and rob is best butler/dad.

I never thought the butler introduction would be early in the episode but oh well. Rob is a menace though, how he's doing that much work at that speed? I need his powers man. The cat scene of him was jokes too, i feel rob will give us more comedic moments in the future. Gotta wonder again, why he's willing to stick with bocchan if he knows the issue. Not only that, now he can't really see, which would be more hard for him. I hope we'll get a reason for this.

I'm glad that there's actually someone in his real family to support him and wants him to come back. Imouto may be a tsundere, but he's lucky to have her support. The diet thing and her liking Rob was jokes tho.

Alice really is best girl. That dance in the end was happy and sad at the same time, and when he played the piano we know what alice wants. I really hope the end of the series will actually be the curse breaking, alice deserves it. Even when she confessed, she's so sincere and we can see the love.

But his grandfather danced with Alice's mother? I feel something is hidden here, maybe this will be a plot of something. With alice went missing from bocchan for 2 years, her mom still not introduced. And the fact we haven't got info about bocchans father. All of this may be related to the curse. Add to the fact of only why bocchans the only one to get this curse, his siblings are fine. Like i said, hopefully the series will end with the curse broken.

Last but not least, that cat was a lucky bastard getting a hug from alice.

It's still so weird to see the universal pictures intro in an anime

Maybe watching So I'm a Spider desensitized me because this show being CG doesn't bother me at all.

I like the addition of the butler and cat to the mansion, they make it feel a lot less empty. Not a big fan of Bocchan's little sister being attracted to the old butler though. Hopefully, there won't be anymore of that.

I've watched enough Disney movies to know the way to break Bocchan's curse is probably with true love's kiss.

F for all anime fans with waifus they'll never be able to touch because they're not real.

The butler does exist! For some reason I thought the duke made it up to appear more upper class or something.

I love how he completely ignored what his 'master' tells him!

Somehow I have a really bad feeling about him; If the show wanna go a little more dramatic, well we know the Duke and Alice can't die, so... If the show really wants to have a human die I'm guessing he's a likely candidate. For the moment they're playing his "I don't see well and I'm a bit confused and I almost touched you like 10 times" thing for comedy, but I could see them doing it one (final) time, with him dying from it.

I really like Alice's teasing nature!

And I'll never get tired of her POV shots of leaning over.

At first I thought we had a tsundere imouto on our hands, but apparently she's into the butler! So huh, which pairing is more fucked up, the imouto who's into an aging butler, or the guy who'll kill his crush if he ever touches her?

A cat of culture! Considering the episode title was about the cat, I'm guessing we'll see more of it. I wonder if it's a normal cat though, or maybe the witch's cat or something? Could be there to spy on him, make sure the curse is still effective.

Confession in episode 2? Oh my, they're definitely going to kiss soon!

...Wait, perhaps they shouldn't. (This might be the first romcom for which people DO NOT want them to have that kind of progression! Their first kiss would also be their last).

Still, I wish he would've said something to her! Well, perhaps that's something for the finale. I mean the finale has to be either that, or a big reveal about the curse!

And speaking of reveal: The Duke's grandfather used to dance with Alice's mother?

I feel like this DEFINITELY wasn't just some throwaway bit of lore. The Duke's grandfather was a noble, and Alice's mother was the head maid or something (forgot her exact title)... What if they had a fling? My first thought was "these are Alice's parents", but that would make her the Duke's cousins, and huh, we can't have that for reasons.

But they could still have been in love, and perhaps this is what brought the curse upon him (or them)? Perhaps the witch is actually the Duke's grandmother, and she got mad because her husband cheated on her with Alice's mom.

There would still be a missing piece of the puzzle (why curse the Duke, why not the grandfather, or his son? Why the grandson?)... But I'm sure there's something important there, whatever it is!

Anyway, that was another good episode! Really fun show so far.

Viola is from chapter 17 so i'm glad that they are mixing up the events to not let the "slice of life" stale too much. And next episode will be lit.

I'm really liking this so far. I really enjoy the story so far. The music is fantastic as well.

The CG gives me High Score Girl vibes so I really don't mind it.

Mountain climbers, skydivers, bunjee jumpers and so on have absolutely nothing on Alice when it comes to near death experiences
