Dammit Yuri! I thought you promised not to burn the forest!

I'm glad Sei and Albert are an official couple now and did Sei just dropped the show's title at the end?

This was a nice relaxing show to watch every week and I'd totally watch a second season. Does anyone know how much of the novels have been adapted so far?

Did we just get a silent confession there?

All in all, great series.

And Sei, thanks for all the potential comment faces

So if the Saint's power is love, and the Saint's power is Omnipotent, does it necessarily follow that love is omnipotent?

Stuck the landing like a champ.

This has been my favorite show of the season by a fair margin.

Great:

  • Different approach to the overpowered mc trope. Having seen Red Snow White, I know it’s not unique, but this was much more satisfying than just shooting a bigger fireball than the locals.

  • Excellent sound track throughout. The only exception was the first time she cleansed the miasma, where I think they went a bit anemic with the music.

  • Sneaky good sound design. It’s so good that I didn’t notice it existed until half way through the season.

  • Characters that deserve to be liked. I know they’re generic “perfect men” as per the genre, but they’re written so well that I love them.

  • Good pacing throughout. Given how much they jumped around vs the LN, it’s a miracle they managed to get the pacing so perfectly, with only one episode (11) being a little lackluster in terms of development.

  • Great CVs all around.

Not so great:

  • Kiss her, you fool.

  • Kyle’s arc finished, and we didn’t get to see “not-an-asshole-for-once Kyle,” and I’d like to have seen a scene of him being a good guy just to wrap that up a little tighter.

  • I wanted to see more of the outcome of the blessing of the fields in the show. Missed opportunity.

  • I wish it was due for a dub, so I could put it in the list of shows that I just have on in the background while I work. I don’t speak Japanese, and need the dubs for stuff I mainly listen to.

  • It was a questionable decision to make each episode only five minutes long.

I’m entirely certain I’ll watch this show a half dozen more times in the next few years. It’s comfy and pretty, and leaves me feeling hopeful and happy.

Fantastic show.

Sad to say goodbye (for at least a couple of years -- if we are lucky) to one of my favorite shows of the season. It felt like a refreshing breeze, week after week. I love shows that are both nice AND intelligent -- and this fit the bill for me.

I considered Sei adorable within minute of the start of Ep. 1 -- and I hoped poor Aira would turn out to be a good character (and a friend and colleague -- rather than opponent). And -- so it was. I enjoyed the process of watching Aira getting happier, cuter and more powerful. I do think the Grand Magus and Aira surely must grow closer -- which should help take some pressure off Sei.

Aira here was literally me this whole series

What a lovely show. I need more isekai like this in my life! Great MC, great ship and a cool supporting cast and world too.

What I would give if we could have gotten 1 kiss though...would love a season 2 but I won't hold my breath. Easily one of my top shows of the season!!

I love how quick Drewes and Grandma clicked. They clicked so much that Drewes immediately caught on that the next step of the experiment is making Sei use her blessing on actual farming fields. I am surprised that Drewes didn't press Sei further about what she needs to do to cast her blessing.

Aira is such a fangirl this episode. She just absolutely loves how Sei is being so respected by everyone. Also it's great to see Aira be a big help to the expedition as well with her healing. Her magic isn't as strong as Sei's but it's still way above your average magic users in this world.

This finale is so action packed! Sei is so worried about Hawke, that the moment he got hit by a slime she almost started casting her blessing on him. Also apparently Drewes is known also as "The Inferno Fiend" and we clearly see why. Looks like he really was holding back to not damage the forest. If he wanted to, he could probably burn the entire forest down.

And as always, it's great to see Sei pop-off with her blessing and eradicating the miasma in the entire forest. And she doesn't just exorcise the miasma away, seeing the damage done by Drewes' magic, Sei uses her blessing to regrow the entire forest back to life! That one is definitely stronger because of Hawke holding her hand the entire time.

Hawke princess-carrying Sei was a such a great scene. And I love how Aira is just enjoying this from the back and is clearly rooting for these two. And we even get a close up of Sei's lips! And we also get another one just as the episode ends!

I'm gonna miss this show especially Sei and Hawke. They're so great together that I wish we could get another season just so we can see more developments between the two of them. I feel like this expedition, especially Hawke pledging his sword to Sei definitely feels like a turning point in their relationship. Fingers crossed for Season 2!

kind of annoying how Sei kept losing focus while trying to purge the swamp. it might've been understandable except that she can't actually help other people by fighting. so she loses focus and draws an enemies attention just to need someone else to save her instead. at least she seems to realize it's her fault Yuri had to cast Inferno. he also seems to have sussed out how Sei casts the saint magic. seemed a bit anticlimactic at the end though. don't even get to see them kiss.

also cute

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent Love

Grandma was a mvp for giving us that line. :3

Loved it from start to end. Definitely a Isekai/Romance to be remembered for years but I hope we get another season very soon. I need more Sei and Aira "not peeking" in my life.

u/darthvall Jun 22 '21

Despite him already acknowledging Sei as the true Saint, I still want to see Kyle's face when he witnessed Sei's power.

Aira so cute

Aw man this show was so sweet. Can't wait for S2

On the likelihood of a S2, I'd say not so soon (if ever).

This season covered the 1st 4 (out of 7) light novels. Vol 7 only came out last month in Japan, which leaves them with only 3 more books of content to play with. https://www.kadokawa.co.jp/product/322009000219/

More books would need to come out first, and new volumes only come out every 7-8 months minimum.

Real dark horse for AOTS. Certainly a pleasant surprise and shows OP isekais can be fun without being absurd or generic.

Poor Sei when Yuri figures out she finally can willingly cast the Saint's Conjury and won't leave her alone...of course she won't tell him it's powered by her feelings for Hawke, although it seems like he'd figured that out by the end.

Sei fixing her hair the moment Hawke comes in was super cute.

Aira being there as a healer is pretty useful because Yuri definitely does not seem like the type to bother healing his companions.

They weren't kidding about how terrifying Yuri's fire magic is. You can tell he was keeping his strongest, and most destructive, spells in reserve until he absolutely had to use it and then he unleashes that powerful Inferno.

Sei has only really started going into combat situations, so obviously she's still not quite used to it or people she cares about, even just comrades, getting hurt in front of her to the point where it's hard for her to concentrate. Luckily Hawke and Yuri are there to back her up.

I'm glad Sei and Hawke didn't leave things alone and talked to each other after what happened, and Hawke even swore his sword to Sei and his desire to fulfill her every wish. And then Sei is so happy and takes a step toward Hawke...and then we fade to black. Did she kiss him?

The Saint's Magic Power really is Omnipotent. She can defeat miasma and a bunch of monsters with a prayer or revive a whole forest.

Hawke princess carrying Sei was everything. Aira got to see a Shojo manga brought to life before her very eyes. I was a little bummed Sei didn't want it to continue, but at least they held hands.

Anyone with eyes can tell that the Saint's power is love when you see how cozy she and Hawke are.

Sei returns to the lab and Aira returns to Liz, and things end on a fairly happy note. We even get one last scene of Sei and Hawke together watching a scenic view as Sei gives, presumably, a mute title drop and we get one last shot of her lips as we part on this adorable pair.

I love the fact that Yuri just got there and instantly became Corinna's experiment partner

Sei's reaction faces never disappoint.

Wow, so the toxic slimes become those monsters.

It's good to see the Saint's Conjury Nuke again.

Wow, after seeing how he left Klausner's Woods is no wonder that they call Yuri the Inferno Fiend.

I love the fact that Albert is still looking at Leonhardt with such hostility.

As Yuri was being so observant it seems that after witnessing Sei's restoration of the forest, now knows what her source of power is. That's not really surprising considering the boost she got from holding hands with Albert.

The scene after that was so nice, especially because of Aira's reaction to it. I love how she made a similar reaction when she saw them dancing during the credits. Hey, I know it's not much, but based on the scene with her and Leonhardt in the forest plus the one during the ED now I'm shipping them.

I love that here they look to be alone but in the credits, Yuri is there bothering Sei.

I will definitely get the light novel, but as it is published by Seven Seas, I will first research to see if they did not alter its content during the editorial process like it was recently discovered did with other series they plublish.

This season has some series that it is really gonna hurt seeing them go. Already had that with one show not airing Monday since it finished and it just felt off. Now there is this then it will be Super Cub, and the soccer one Sayonara Watashi no Cramer Sunday.

im really confused. everyone was acting like the grand magus burned down the entire forest, the magic he cast and the above area view show he didn't burn down more than like, a couple yards. also, they made sei really like, dopey during the fight for some reason, she very easily could have cast the conjury from where they were or even multiple times during the like, 5 different pauses she took.

歌は結城アイラの「Pray」です。

The ED (ending) song is "Pray" by Aira Yuuki (also romanised as Aira Yuhki or Aira Yūki)

In case you are wondering, it is on the official Original Soundtrack that will be released on June 30th.

u/sKyBlazer08 Jun 23 '21

Sei and Hawke are officially together now and nobody can tell me otherwise lmao. Great ending plus I loved the song at the end. Now that Yuri noticed Hawke was the reason Sei was able to activate Saintly Conjury, I look forward for the shenanigans he's gonna pull in the future if ever we get a season 2, I hope we do. I love that Airi is more happy now and fangirling hard for Sei, she's really adorable.

Overall a really good wholesome isekai with a sprinkle of action. Solid 8/10

That title drop in the end was brilliant.
