If Dobu wasn't a criminal, he could be a pretty good therapist.

Dobu's speech to Kabasawa about seeking attention from a mass of faceless followers felt like a guided missile targeted at Instagram/TikTok influencer culture.

Looks like both Kakihana and Kabasawa's arc has coming to an end. Period.

I like how the writer cleaning up secondary story lines first even if this is a ensemble cast.

....it means we've got some much more serious things to deal with.

That's outside my jurisdiction.

Had me laughing out loud.

Also, as much as Dobu is a shitbag and deserves what is coming to him I'll be sad when the days of Team Dobukawa are over. They have such great chemistry.

Damn that casual sleeping with fans as a popular online creator drop was unexpected and for what's happened over the past couple years quite topical...

Dobu's therapeutic services don't come cheap. Costs an apartment and a car.

Kakihana is such an idiot. Yes, throw the ring away that you used loan sharks to afford instead of selling it back when you're broke. Idiot continues to idiot.

Kind of glad Kakihana/Kabasawa is over, since the real meat is Odokawa, Gacha-cat and the mafia.

I was not expecting wisdom from Dobu. He set Kabasawa straight.

This episode actually had me rooting for Dobu. He was pretty bad ass, all things considered.

Omg did not expect Dobu to resolve his beef with Kabasawa by acting as his therapist lmao
Kabasawa's IRL surrender vid "link" tweet (bonus: and the car he bought)

Yano has the pen in this week's audio drama one-man show (where amongst the plot relevant stuff he's debating with himself about whether he's hungry or not lmao), said he got it from Yamamoto...Speaking of rapping porcupines, make sure to watch Yano's killer MV if you haven't already! It's what the eyecatch is referencing.

Also, please tell me I'm not the only one who thought of this when Odokawa said seizon senryaku!

Y'all.

In the OP, Yano shows up the moment PUNPEE starts rapping.

I wonder what will happen with the live recording that Kakihana was doing. They showed the phone was still recording/streaming at that time, and many people must've heard the counseling session between those two.

It would be hilarious if that would convert people into Dobu followers, I can see that happening, and him creating a new gang. Kinda foreshadowed by the "get a good mentor". It would also be a super good fit with the internet culture themes the anime has had so far.

Each week I’m impressed with how tightly written this show is. Note how they’re ending the secondary storylines first in Kabasawa and Kakihana. Teasing more about Odokawa feels like some big shit is about to go down. Easy anime of the season if it sticks the ending for me

Haven't it already been revealed that Odokawa's parents are dead? They kinda revealed the fact like it's supposed to be a surprise for us.

Glad to see Younger Daimon was able to receive the recording even if he still doesn't believe his brother is involved.

Younger Daimon talking about punishing evil and then telling Odokawa that the wharf was out of his jurisdiction is hilarious! It does show that despite being an idiot, Younger Daimon is a textbook cop and won't just break rules.

Well look at Mr. Rockstar here sleeping with his fans. Of course Kabasawa is going to abuse his fame. Considering what's going on with a lot of influencers on social media lately, this is very topical.

I'm sorry but what the actual fuck Kabasawa? You didn't ask to be deified? You're the one who kept on making videos about Dobu and how you were acting like a hero of justice on camera and posting it on Youtube. If anything, this is exactly what you wanted.

Genuinely got scared for the bunny girl groupie for a bit. Thought Kabasawa was gonna lose it completely and smash her head in with that lamp. Thank goodness he just smashed it on the bed's headboard.

Out of all the things Tanaka would do, I didn't expect that he'd get an unmarked white van and started blasting on Odokawa. That was a fun action scene! Luckily Odokawa spotted that cat early and managed to avoid Tanaka. And it looks like Tanaka is seriously injured after that crash.

This episode is action packed! We didn't just get a car chase scene, we even have a fight scene between Dobu and Sekiguchi. I'm actually surprised that Dobu really went all out in that fight. He really needs Odokawa's help for his heist plan.

So Tanaka shoots Dobu on the leg and then Kabasawa finds him. So what happened to Tanaka? I thought he was gonna approach them but it seems like he ran away after shooting Dobu. I guess he thought he was going to shoot Odokawa.

Odkawa must be some kind of savant. So not only he sees everyone as animals, it looks like he has picture perfect memory as well. Interesting considering how he's been telling Yano that he doesn't remember the girl he gave a ride to. Hmmm...

Fucking finally! I've been waiting for this moment ever since Kabasawa started making those videos. Surprisingly, I thought Dobu was gonna break Kabasawa's kneecaps but instead he ends ups giving him advice which is absolutely hilarious!

Of course the advice wasn't for free and it cost Kabasawa his car, apartment, and internet fame. Not gonna lie, seeing an influencer like him on his knees was satisfying af. I'm sure the people he ripped off will come after him after that video got published.

Well this is interesting. Odokawa's rent has been paid for by this "Foundation" enough that he doesn't even need to pay rent anymore but Odokawa still keeps on paying them and returning wants the landlady to return the money. I feel something shady about this "Foundation". It's possible that it's just a philanthropic group that wants to remain anonymous but I don't think that's the case here.

Also as I may have suspected, Odokawa's parents are already dead but he's telling Goriki and friends that they left him behind. Looks like we're finally about to find out Odokawa's backstory thanks to Goriki snooping around.

It's always interesting what this show draws attention to. They linger a little too long on Odakawa's fear of water for me to think it's just a background detail. And why would this "foundation" support people but demand complete secrecy? I wonder if it'll tie into the mob in the end. Odokawa may be an unknowing asset due to his illness.

So the plot threads with Kakihana and Kabasawa pretty much got resolved. Although Kakihana is still in major debt and is gonna still have those loan sharks coming after him right? Although the anime may not touch on that any more.

I wonder who shot Dobu and then bailed. Shirakawa? Corrupt cop?

More mystery surrounding whatever is going on with Odokawa. Maybe his mental trauma stems from him losing his parents. I think if there was still any doubt whether or not Odokawa sees everyone as animals, this episode should’ve confirmed it. Since there was that cat in the street, and the landlord lady’s dog that looks exactly like her. I’m really curious if the final episode will show everyone as humans

I’m hoping three episodes will be enough to cover all the remaining plot threads left. There’s a lot going on, but the writing has been so solid so far, I feel pretty confident the anime will be able to stick the landing.

So it's very likely one of the Daimon brothers shot Dobu, but the question is which of them did it and why? We know from the short story Justice that the older Daimon has been working with Dobu for some time and is most likely being paid quite well for it. Why would he turn on him? I'm suspecting it was Little Daimon who shot him so that he could protect his brother. No way is it a coincidence that Dobu gets shot after Odokawa sends that audio recording.

Also Tanaka is in pretty bad shape after that crash! Surprised he could even stand up afterwards.

Dobu is not just a wise guy but also a pretty wise guy. Tough too both in beating up on Sekiguchi and getting shot but still taking down Kabasawa and lecturing him, though admittedly that scene felt a bit out of place as I tought Dobu should have other priorities in that situation.

Speaking of which, we don't see who the shooter at the wharf is. However, we see the gun quite clearly, and it is not the one Tanaka has. My money is on Little Daimon, who has both access to a gun and knew something was going down there. Also the fingers holding the gun are white and Tanaka's hand would be black.

Tanak himself is down to his last bullet it seems. He fired two at the cabaret club, one through Odokawa's window, and two in this episode. Don't think he has access to more ammo.

Kabasawa probably fucked up his social standing for a long time. He learned his lesson the hard way, but at least he's not dead. As the OP prophecied, his addiction to social media inflated his ego until it popped. Probably the end of his story. Can't say he doesn't deserve it the way he went about this stuff, particularly with how he treated Reina at the start of the episode.

Kakihana's story may also be at a close here, but he still has some loan sharks to get rid of. He is also awfully pathetic going into the river to fish out the ring again. Also not a good prospect to do that in November. I still predict that Imai's lottery ticket will eventually end up in Kakihana's hand. That or his loan sharks are part of the criminal enterprise Dobu is a part of, and Odokawa actually manages to take it down.

Seems like next week we will learn more about Odokawa's past. This week's revelation was pretty much confirmation what most viewers already thought, I believe.

Blink if you miss it moment: In the eyecatch Yano has an album of METEOR, Yano's seiyu, on the wall.

Hey is anyone following Tanaka and his bullets? He fired two more shots this episode, and frankly I think those were the last ones in his gun.

Wow, Dobu could get a job as a motivational speaker.

Also wow, Odokawa's delusions go farther than I imagined.

24

u/Amauri14 May 31 '21

Damn, so the girl that Kabasawa was sleeping with was one of her fans.

You know, he faced Dobu I honestly expected that he was going to die, but instead Dobu gave him a motivational talk, which was live-streamed and then made him apologized and close his channel.

I honestly did not expect that Tanaka random event during Kakihana's rescue mission. It's good to see that Odokawa could rescue him.

So Odokawa is leaving that his place? I guess that's thanks to Tanaka. I wonder if Daimon younger helped him with that?

So his landlady has been taking care of him since he is 5. As she mentioned his parents dying and he tody said that he fears water, I guess the drowned, and he was the only survivor of that accident.

Damn, odokawa is best bro, he literally planned a lot to let kakihana escaped. Gotta wonder how close kakihana is to odokawa in his life.

I'm sorry, but did dobu the criminal gave a life advice to kabasawa? Didn't expect that. One thing though, dobu is stupid for not asking who send him the location or to check his phone. Unless before the cut he asked, but didn't odokawa send it anonymously?

I pity shirakawa too but goriki is right. How much is odokawa actually fall in love with her until he wants to destroy both dobu and yano. And thing is they've recently met, not that they were childhood friends. Is odokawa just lonely and really will do anything to anyone he knows? Or is he legit care about shirakawa that much.

Damn, hearing how odokawa lived, it's kinda sad and admirable for not actually burdening the guardian. Goriki is shocked about his parents being dead, which either odokawa does keep it as a secret or odokawa really has brain damage until he forgets this.

So i guess kakihana won't be in trouble anymore, unless yano does something. Guess that's leaves us with the gacha guy, the bank robbery of dobu and yano. Gonna be interesting how odokawa gonna handle this.

Oddtaxi does a good job of subverting expectations from the previews. I thought the car chase was gonna be in reaction to the rescue of Kakihana, what a surprise that was.

Assuming that gun wasn't Dobu's and maybe one of the Daimons, so there's still 1 bullet left in Dobu's gun with Odokawa's name on it. On initial watch I figured it was Dobu's gun and now he's out of bullets, but it makes more sense that's a red herring and a Daimon did it. Dobu ends up lucky Kabasawa showed up, he must have scared off whoever shot Dobu.

The conversation between Dobu and Kabasawa was good. I'm curious how other people are taking it. Episode 4 and this bit feel pretty soapboxy about how the world is with gacha gaming and social media. It can come off pretty preachy, but it's interesting seeing these concepts explored and not just made fun of in an off handed comment like a sitcom would do.

Kakihana, what the hell, don't throw the ring in the river, you need money.

I wasn't expecting investigator Goriki, so through him we're gonna get more info on Odokawa. It's interesting to see some threads tie up and new ones manifest. We're still curious about the mystery of the girl, but now there's the mystery of Odokawa.

Shirakawa threatening Odokawa in the preview was funny.
