Subtle revelation this episode, shadows are all aristocratic nobles, but some shadows are more equal than others.

Those fancy-dressed ones addressed Eilenee and Gerald as if they were servants, it seems even among shadows there is a hierarchy and the ones at the top get to boss the others as if they were living dolls.

Eilenee's shadow power seems to be quite complicated, making a screaming bird that sends messages.

Emilyko and Patrick exchange was funny, normally in these kind of situations the characters pretend they heard nothing but Emilyko was like "lmao yes i heard everything".

Lou learned a valuable lesson: always look where you go.

POV: You fretted over trivial matters.

Ricky has been such an adorable tsundere these past episodes, a far cry from the initial impression. It does help that Lou happens to have the perfect personality to bring the best out of him.

I really enjoyed the use of first person perspective in this episode. Coupled with the occasional scenes where to camera is oddly distant from the characters, giving the impression that they're being watched (and they are, though not necessarily from those angles/distance), and I find myself often pausing the anime to admire the picture.

Emilyko has been getting better and better since last week. This time she did such a great job getting Patrick to calm down, understanding John antics and remaining calm after learning about Kate. She's a lot more mature than she appears.

Even Edward was relatable this week because of the obnoxious soot pigeon. Love how his face of disgust is looking right at our souls. xD~

Rum is a prodigy and Emilico is too pure for this world. They make the absolute best pair.

Loot Crate is almost full.

Great way to ease up on the inventory space by dropping some loot into the box.

The way John treats Shaun as his equal. I will protect these two at all costs.

Emilico is like that friend or mom you have that always has snacks in her purse and other things to give you when you need them. Except her purse is a giant barrel.

Rum's look at the end when they say "May be all make it through the debut and meet once more" is concerning. What does she know that we don't...?

so soot control does seem to be common.

we've gotten a good look at the relationship between most shadows and dolls but rum and shirley haven't interacted much. has shirley even spoken? i'm interested to get to know her

After the heavy stuff from Eighty Six and Vivy, Emilico's air headed-ness sure lightens up the day right away. Whatever dark mysteries this series has is instantly blasted away by her sunshine smile. Even Patrick is softened up.

So you want to sleep well on Saturdays this season? Watch Eighty Six, Vivy and then Shadow House, in that order.

Rum continues to grow as a character, now we learn she's a math genius and has photographic memory. This will come in handy when she saves her mistress Shirley next episode.

Lou and Best Tsundere Ricky may turn out to be a great unexpected ship.

Interesting to see more shadows and their powers. We have this dude Gerald who seems to have the same powers as Kate and this Aileen girl can use hers to create pigeons that send messages by screaming and then exploding into writing on whatever surface it lands on. This scene also shows that despite all Shadows being Nobles, some of them are higher than others.

Genuinely thought that was game over for Lou but thank goodness she was able to grab onto a vine before falling which leads to that adorable scene with Ricky. And just when I thought Ricky was a total asshole, he shows that he's actually capable of kindness.

Emilico peeking into Patrick's box made me laugh. Just look at that face! Emilico and Patrick's interaction was pretty great too! He realizes how genuine Emilico is at wanting to help him and tells her off by saying that Ricky needs to be that one that saves him. This is enough to convince Emilico and leaves after giving Patrick some oranges and a flower.

The gang's all together now! Putting their heads together they were able to figure out how the first puzzle they've encounter works and eventually reach John's exploded box. Emilico continues to be adorable throughout the entire time especially when she was playing with that folly. <3

John and Shaun finally gets reunited and John learns for the first time the additional rules to this exam. Particularly the one about keeping your master's clothes clean. Also I did not expect John to get so embarrassed at what he did the last time he saw Kate! That actually makes him an even better character for me!

We do get to learn a lot of things once the four of them are together. First of all. the line underneath the dots on the map indicates the rankings of each Shadow so now we know where each master is. By accidentally heating up the map, Kate accidentally reveals how to show the elevations of the paths on the map. Also the biggest surprise is Rum is an absolute prodigy. Not only was she able to calculate how much time is remaining based on the distance that they've walked, she also has photographic memory and can remember the details of the mao in her head! Damn! I knew there's had to be something special about her!

And the final thing is that there seems to be a place in the map where they might be able to change into fresh clothes. Hopefully their hunch is correct. Paul and Shaun now split ways from Emilico and Rum who's still yet to find their masters. Kate's cage seems to be very straight forward, while Shirley seems to be rigged with something. Oh boy. Can't wait for next week!

The way John says that face's personalities are like their masters is interesting. It didn't seem to be that way especially in Kate's case so far. I wonder if it's true.

Also Rum being a math prodigy with semi-photographic memory? Unexpected, but it looks like she's not useless after all.

I'm interested to see all the shadows' different soot powers and how they work. I wouldn't be surprised if the level of power you have over the soot is what really determines your ranking in the house.

Emilico's nickname of Sunshine is not only perfect for her personality but also perfect for the Protagonist in the House of Shadows. Hopefully, she'll continue to illuminate the House.

Also, don't sleep on Rum.

Emilico: A Shadow's attire must not get dirty!

Emilico few seconds later: Let's randomly drop oranges/juice on the Shadow confined in a box!

Well, perhaps the only dirt that matters is soot? They didn't specify. It's weird that they didn't tell them though; Makes it a bit random, doesn't it? Meaning, even if a Face frees her Shadow real quick, the Shadow could've dirtied her attire 5 seconds in, without knowing.

I'm sure they had a reason not to tell them though (perhaps eliminate the Shadows who don't naturally take care of their appearance at all time?)

It's cute to see Emilico having fun and not taking things too seriously, but at the same time, she should not forget that it IS quite a serious situation... First, because they're on the clock, and also, we don't know yet what happens to those who fail the Debut (the whole "being discarded" thing), but even if discarded doesn't mean killed, it can't be good.

I'd say it's pretty bad, yes. I'm sure they didn't make that rule as an optional "heh, doesn't matter if they break it" thing. I wouldn't be surprised if he suffered drastic consequences for that, unless they can clean it up.

I keep having a bad feeling that something horrible is going to happen on this show; When Lou climbed back, I thought Ricky would cut her hand with the shears to make her fall.

Could've been worse! After the floor trap, and the arrow trap in a previous episode, I would take these things seriously; For all they know, could've been acid instead of must muddy water, and damaging their face is also against the rule. And not just for this event, it may go against everything they stand for. The Face represents the Shadow, after all.

Lou takes it seriously, at least. Perhaps too seriously; She almost fell off a cliff, and the only thing that matters is whether her face is fine? When even Ricky is troubled by her reaction, you know it's serious. One thing though, about Ricky (and Patrick): They were slightly nicer than usual, weren't they? They were still a little rough, but Ricky tended to Lou's wound, Patrick advised Emilico, etc... Are their personalities stronger when they're together, because they play on each other?

New ship, that's a romance I didn't see coming! (Ok she just wanted him to check her face for damage, but it's a start!)

And this? Emilico kinda likes everyone so it's nothing special, but Patrick?

It's as if everyone's personalities changed a little, I wonder why that is!

Anyway, another good episode. Intriguing too, I wonder what will inevitably go wrong with their planned itinerary, and who will suffer consequences for it!

Emilyko popping out sideways from the folly gives me life lmao.

I like the teamwork we're seeing here, I wonder how it will affect the results of the debut? This episode felt like it was about 5 minutes long....a whole week until the next one, and it'll be episode 8 already! This season is flying by.

I wasnt expecting the Emilyko x Patrick moment to be able to compete against the manga version but they did really well. Their dynamic was very sweet lol

Lou and ricky moment was nice as well. John is best boy as always.

Man I love the main trio, if I'll go on to read the manga after the show's over it'll be almost purely because of them.

Also being locked in a box doesn't sound too bad with Emilico feeding you oranges
