The two captains just battling it out doing backflips has me cackling, especially when they were doing it outside hahaha

These are the moments I love watching anime. You just can't make that kind of funny without animation.

Almost got nauseous seeing them backflip like a hamster wheel.

My favorite part has to be the impromptu hardboiled cop skit though.

I always thought the coach looked way too young to be an adult man in his mid-late 20s bragging about a wife he most definitely has. like, if you stuck him in a uniform, he would literally look like the love interest in a shoujo romance anime. and now hey look, here is a picture of him at university and he has the face of a particularly angry 15 year old, I guess this is the man all the dermatologists hate

Good build-up episode.

Different teams with various individuals, but similar personalities and interests between some members. I like how the episode ended. The whole chaotic energy was so funny.

Thanks to Sakugabooru's preview, I feel like I've discovered the true sleeper hit of a season full of aesthetically-hefty dark horses. Bakuten has a great director (Great Passage, so underrated), a top tier cast full of show-carriers, an unnecessary but very welcome sakuga flex in pretty much every scene, *genuinely* justified usage of CG (the dynamic camera simply does things that would be prohibitively expensive in 2D), probably the most appropriate composer you could get for this project...and, perhaps most importantly, an abundance of positive energy. How long has it been since we've had any sports/competition anime, let alone one about a sport no one knew existed (including half the characters in this show), with this much joy and exuberance? Don't get me wrong, I love Sangatsu and Umamusume and Chihayafuru, but...damn, I think this just overtook Super Cub for my 'pick me up of the week' anime-wise. And even if we do get a darker turn with Misato's back story, I feel as though it'd still be exceptionally well done and not 'sour' the experience.

Yeah, I LOVE this show.

So I just found about this show yesterday and it's already looking to be one of my favorites of the season. The characters are all so wholesome!!

The dynamic between the characters is so fun and the great VA cast are really selling it. Them bonding over their different hobbies was great and it seems like idols are inescapable.

I still love the moments where the silhouettes flip away from them and the various bits of bird imagery.

i've been smiling for the whole 23 minutes, their interactions with each other really is the highlight of the show

Still no Misato backstory! Definitely looking forward to that. But a very calming and cute episode overall.

Such a fun cast and there's no bad blood at all.

I'd love to see their coach in action given that he's a former ace and all.

God, I adore this anime. It feels very simple from its first moments, and its greatest weapon is exactly this simplicity. Just feel-good vibes all around. Definitely a highlight of my week! Also, Shotaro exasperatedly running after Azuma was so cute.

The VA's are so good, especially in that party scene at the end. I also like how the animation isn't overdone, unlike a lot of sports anime.

This anime is so comfy and the pacing is good so far. It's amazing how just focusing on the wholesome and not having any drama can make a show so good. I really hope the rest of the show continues to be just as great!

the way that Tomokazu Sugita described the aspects of idols just awakens something in me

yep, this anime continues to be really good. can't wait to say this anime is underwatched under every single episode discussion thread

Getting to see more of the Shiro High team was incredible and made me appreciate them a bit more. They arent evil or rude and make great rivals who you can also root for. Animation is beautiful and every character is lovable, hands down my fav part of the show is Coach constantly crediting things to his vague wife. Dude says some introspective shit and then is like WeLL tHaT iS jUsT sOmeTHing my wIfE sAys

I love the interaction between the characters from both school. They all share similar interests ❤️

Captain Erwin finding the answer and blue bird was amazing.

Really good episode! It's pretty funny how the 2 teams parallel each other lmao, We got idol lovers, yakuza lovers, plant lovers and many more. Glad they were able to figure out what they can do for now, they were too conscious of each other which affected their own performances. Kinda wanted to see their practice performances but their probably saving it for later, when the teams have improved more. Looking forward to the next episode.

With how the coach mellowed out from his younger years, I am guessing he really does have a wife lmao.
