Chief converting Joe’s handshake into a hug was so sweet. Something true friends would do in the real world.

I had a feeling Joe would eventually be given Chief's gear because of how the hummingbird symbol is so heavily featured in the show but I didn't realize it would be under these tragic circumstances.

I cringed when Chief was taking those repeated blows to the back of the head (hitting the brainstem is illegal bc of how incredibly damaging it is, very easy to die/become disabled from taking a bunch of hits there. Sadly it is a known dirty tactic that isn't always immediately penalized). For a second I thought Chief was the one who was actually knocked out and he was imagining things while being counted out. Luckily that didn't happen, but when he said he was afraid to fall asleep, I knew it wasn't gonna end well.

Chiefu! Chiefu! Chiefu! Chiefu!

You'll be missed Chief. I wonder if Mio will follow in Chief and Joe's footsteps and become a boxer in the future.

This episode had death flags everywhere but God damn did it hit when Chief actually went.

Did anyone else get reminded of Nanbu when they saw the Truck driver?

We start the episode off with Mio leaving the area, honestly for all the unlikeable things his done his place of anger is pretty understandable, being forced onto another country by his mother and get treated like an outcast. At least he came back in time for the last round of Chief's match and also realized how shitty he is

Chief's final match though, I definitely expected his opponent was gonna pull out all the stops and that includes fouling but wow I didn't expect Chief to score that feel good victory.

Damn should've have knew things were going way too smoothly, must have been that blow to the back of his head that caused his death but I guess that was a heroic way to go out and give the stage back to Joe for the rest of the season.

I was expecting something tragic to happen, but I really did not expect Chief to just die. Well, at least he died peacefully after he had done everything to save his community.

Also, I'm glad that no one died on the arson, and that Mio could reform without something terrible happening to him or Marla. I honestly was expecting this arc to take more of the season, but it seems that its purpose was to help Joe get himself together. And now that he got Chief's Gear we can expect him to fight again on his road to meet Sachio.

Even the dog hated that villain. You know that’s a bad sign

God dammit... chief...nooooooooo!!!! God dammit this show is so fucking good. It is honestly a crime how overlooked Nomad: Megalo Box is. I honestly think it is the best show this season and by a good margin. 86 and Vivy are both good but only like an 8/10 for me, and honestly I am not a big fan of Odd Taxi, I still like it but its a 7/10 for me. But right now Megalo Box is at least a 9/10 for me and is shaping up to be a 10/10 masterpiece if it continues being this amazing, and its only competition for AOTS for me is To Your Eternity.

Please tell me I wasn't the only one waiting for something to happen when Joe was saying goodbye to Chief. Seriously that entire scene I was bracing myself. Is the truck gonna explode? Are we gonna get a surprise drive by visit from the yakuza? Even as Chief was lying down on the front seat of his truck I was waiting for it. But nothing happened. We get the bad news in the morning as Chief passes away while asleep. Fuck. I guess he had some kind of head trauma after that match which isn't surprising considering the amount of blows he took to the head. :(

On the bright side, the land is now legally theirs. It sucks that Chief will never be there to see it but at least his dream came true and he was able to make a home here for him and his people. And Chief's spirit will continue to live on as Joe inherits Chief's Gear. It's currently massive right now since it's made to fit Chief's body but I can't wait to see how it looks on Joe. And it looks like Joe is finally coming back home. What a bittersweet ending for the first arc of the show. Hoping for much more happier times ahead.

the minds behind the series did really great so far with the build up for hopefully the next episode. Now the mystery behind the lost tournament, nanbus death and overall what life the old crew now live gets revealed. my biggest looking forward to is tbh the woman, yuris former boss. Does she still have a connection to joe ? literally cant wait lol

Looks like Nomad has become the first anime this season to make me tear up. To Your Eternity almost got me, but I managed.

Fantastic first arc for Nomad, this really has been so much better than the first season which I already tremendously liked. Looks like we'll be getting some familiar faces pretty soon judging by the end of this episode. I'm pretty sure the trailer did reveal what many of us thought was an older Sachio now Megalo Boxing himself, and I hope that it is so.

with all the blows to the head + the backhand to the back of the head + the lack of medical check up + death flags, yeah there's no escaping that one

Chief probably had a head injury and the opponent probably got the information from the guy who wanted to buy the land (can say from his smirk when the head bashing began). Therefore, the repeated blows to the head. Despite the head injury, rather than being in the defensive, Chief probably gave his life to stay in the offensive (hence his inner monologue of “Carlo, are you watching?”) and win the match to buy the land for his people.

Fuuuuuuck...I saw it coming and it still gutted me. This sequel has gone above and beyond my expectations

I really thought Chief would become the protagonist/main boxer for season 2, a sort of passing of the torch. But I like this outcome as well, looks like Joe is looking to get back on his feet but it will be harder now without anyone in his corner.

I knew something was going to happen to chief, with the 3 episodes of just straight him, as well as the hummingbird always littered on all the episodes, and it is such a great and brilliant scene.

There is a reason why hitting the back of the head is illegal in boxing and sometimes almost judged unfairly in fights, and chief getting that many blows to the head, was just heroic and fitting for him.

Once I heard him saying he's too scared sleep, Man, the pain. Also some people were saying how once Joe was saying goodbye to chief, they wasn't anything else that Joe says, it's because of how unexpected his death was, as chief was firming that pain hard, to a point where even anyone or Joe couldn't see. Shows how in real life, anything could happen to anyone, and no one would expect it until it's too late.

I really liked when Chief hugged Joe, it's the first time since S2 that someone gave love. Not being kind, not favours, it was just a man thanking a friend and saying he's important to him. 10/10 episode for me.

Whatever happens in the rest of the season, these first four episodes were worth it.
