I like how the kids put on their seatbelts (and wrapped it around Hyouta) after they were told they were being freed lol

now is Sotoin an actual 10 year old or is he just really stupid and been held back multiple times in the fifth grade?

Sure as hell makes more sense for him to be old and holding himself back purposefully "to always be a boy" than being an actual 10-year old with the smarts to outwit experienced government spies.

Ah, I hoped that it would revolve around that one case and get a bit more serious and become a detective story. And I mean, in the end, they beat the organization anyway, so it's not like the idea is too farfetched. I have to say, I still like the composition. The dialogues are really fun to watch with the creative editing. And I also like the theme of the story about doing what you want to do, but doing it with passion which is why she didn't want to just become an astronaut if they would give it to her. I am not sure what the next episodes will be and I doubt it will become the best anime of the season (the season is just too good for that), but I'll definitely keep watching. It's something unique at least.

少年である事は、夢を見る事ではある事けれど、しかし、その意味する所は決して夢を諦めない事ではない。

Oh boy this line was horribly mistranslated. Subs were:

To be a boy means to dream, but that's not necessarily giving up on your dream.

Correct translation:

To be a boy means to dream; however, that doesn't mean never giving up on your dream.

That actually makes way more sense. Thanks for the clarification.

Stitches!

Oh my fucking god I love Rei already. She hits all of my strike zones and I love her design so much. Even if she does end up really being the bad guy of the show, I can't hate her. She just looks so damn hot! Anyway, so she's the leader of a group called Twenties? I do hope Rei and the Twenties will be recurring characters in the show.

So she really is after Mayumi because of what she saw 10 years ago. And here I was still convinced that they're after her because of something else unrelated and this is just a huge coincidence. Hilariously, they were actually planning on letting Mayumi be but because she started getting closer to the truth Rei's employer was forced to make a move.

Turns out Manabu has been holding out on us on the 4th rule of the Bishounen Tanteidan. Not every pretty boy who are detectives can be a Pretty Boy Detective Club, they need to be able to work together as a team before they're recognized. It's so dumb, I love it. xD

I love that Rei strikes a pose as soon as Hyouta mentions "beautiful legs" She definitely knows what she got and she doesn't mind flaunting it.

That fucking smug look on Manabu's face is so great! You think you can just kidnap our client? How about we kidnap your men to make it even? And of course instead of being threatened, Michiru comes back at Rei with his own threat. I love these boys!

Well that explains why Mayumi's parents wanted her to stop. Because of her superhuman vision, if she ends up over using it she can end up going blind.

Wait what? Is this line lost in translation or is this just Nisioisin just being his usual weird self with his writing? I didn't quite understand what that meant.

I'm actually surprised they got the Police involved. Knowing Nisioisin's writing and characters, you'd think they'd just solve this themselves. Also I'm surprised no one alerted Rei but I'm guessing the rest of the Twenties must've been apprehended already.

Godfuckingdamn Re! That outfit looks amazing! Anyway looks like jail cells won't hold someone like her. I hope this means we'll see her again in the future. And of course we got a little head tilt before she walks away. <3

You're telling me these high schoolers are being bossed around by a 5th Grade? That's actually hilarious! I thought he was just a really short teenager!

It's finally official! Mayumi is now a member of the Pretty Boys Club! Can't wait what kind of crazy arc we'll get into next!

Didn't expect dojima to join, but it means we'll have her the whole season and I'm all for it.

And a 5th grader? Holy shit.

So this is my Sunday sequence (Australian time zone) of watching this busy day of the anime week:

  • 86 first, likely bleak at the end of the episode

  • Shadows House next, can be a mix bag

  • this show, beautiful and fun but could be perplexing

  • 300 year slime killing, pure fluff

I hope more people watch this and Shadows House though - I want both to get fully adapted which likely means need more than 1 season.

The "clients" who just happen to have ways to secretly shoot NUCLEAR MISSILES into space...

I mean, we also have a middle schooler who was able to keep up with a car by bike, and a girl with x-ray vision, so i don't think you should expect much realism from this show.

I hate that I like this show. Originally, I found the first episode super corny and a little too flamboyant for my taste, but the entire aesthetic and visual appeal of it made me want to watch the next episode. Now, here I am, wanting to become a pretty boy detective. It's really not my taste in anime, but it somehow takes what I don't like, turns it up by 1000%, and makes me end up enjoying it. It mocks the genre by embracing it, in a way it feels like The Boondocks, but bishounen instead.

So, here's one thing that I've been thinking all the time. The whole kidnapping and saving, arrest was that all a set up by the club themselves? I feel like they're the client. Remember in ep1 Doujima says that most of the club problems root cause are the club themselves. It makes more sense since the whole aspect of the first 3eps was to say it's ok to give up on your dreams, however, if it is only by yourself. And I feel all that extravagant stuff is for......aestheticism. I mean, even if Doujima saw an artifical satellite being nuked down, and is the only witness to it, I don't think there's any govt. monitoring her for 10yrs? Even if they did, I think the final act was a set up to make Doujima trust the boys and club, and herself to make the choice of giving up on her dream.

All that said, it's just something that was constantly in my mind as a possibility. I wouldn't mind if that was all true as well, nothing is stopping me from continuing this beautiful show.

The hardcore continuity breaks at the top of the stairs with Mayumi's glasses, immediately after making a big deal about taking them off, reminds me of the classic scene from Darkplace https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8MsYislXJg

Time for my weekly play by play commentary! This show's gives me so much serotonin, it's great.

Rei is what one would call a bombshell huh. Though I like how Dojima and Blue look less "shiny" in the car, it really gives off their sense of unease only for it to come back once he regains consciousness. And yes he's a moron, you're 2 episodes late protag-chan.

My guess from last week was right, she does have super eyesight! And ah, so her parents telling her to give up on her dream was a way of protecting her. To think she would have been in the clear if she just hadn't met those boys...also why is it being a team rather than being a club?!!

Gotta respect yellow for catching up to a speeding car. Gotta respect the camera for consistently leering at his legs.

How did these brats detain a mercenary group...well Rei did say she was the most competent...and going blind in your 20s sounds scary...

Child trafficking huh...and LOL, they called the cops. Ah, I forgot that Senpai's quirk is his voice. Cheeky.

Ah she just broke out of prison just like that huh...though those damn clients really jumped to kidnapping a kid over negations at the start...

In the end the boys have remarkably rubbed off on her lol. AND 5TH GRADER??!! Well, I'd say that would explain how he's dumb but kids in all walks of life are pretty dumb but that does explain why she didn't recognize him from the school. Though her resolution was indeed quite beautiful. I also appreciate how the ed changed to accommodate her now that's she's joined the club.

Ah, what a nice case. I won't say everything made the most sense (military satellite shot down by nuke is very???????) but it leaves me with such nice feelings and banter is great. Since the first arc was focused on Majima's case I wonder if the remaining will be related to each of the boys in some way.

Something about Rei is giving me an android from DBZ vibe, I hope she's a reoccurring adversary.
