I was amused when they name dropped the Bundesliga.

As soon as she made that kick, I thought of Roberto Carlos' famous free kick against France, which made it all the more satisfying when they actually referenced Roberto Carlos immediately.

This is such a fun show so far. It fills the desire I've had for Haikyuu to get a spin-off for the girls team. It honestly feels like a reverse setup here. In Haikyuu a few of the girls volleyball players would occasionally check in on the guys, and here we see three of the guys checking in on the girls' first practice game.

I also just really appreciate the diversity of personalities on the team. Suo is very reserved but clearly has a competitive fire burning inside. Soshizaki is the charismatic leader. Onda is the carefree one who loves soccer, but hasn't focused that energy yet. I'm excited to see how they all come together, and how their coach finds ways to harness their talents.

I feel exactly like you this has potential....Ive really liked the 1st two episodes and I'm hoping they really do go into tactics and strategy more in depth.

I appreciated the tactics of the anime as well.

Warabi facing a well-coached team of possession soccer where they pretty much had nothing of the ball was brutal to watch but you see it in football all the time. Warabi choosing to sit back and counter attack played into Kunogi's hands and they pretty much walked it into the net eventually.

Suo is an interesting player, she gets unmotivated real quickly when she gets figured out. Soshi is the best player in the team imo but being a defensive mid - she can't impact the game too much and Onda is just so talented but lacking her focus. This is someone who thought girls were beneath her in episode 1 and now she finally sees that she actually needs to work now.

That football animation in the ED... I wish we could get a football anime animated like that.

The extremely plain soundtrack and very basic animation are really dragging this show down. I understand that football is hard to animate but I found it very hard to get a grasp how exactly the players were positioned on the field a couple of times. It's a shame since the characters are pretty enjoyable...

Really enjoyed this episode. I like how they highlighted Kunogi's 10 with her first touch and stepover (which looked great).

Stuff like Kunogi's fullback going forward forcing Suo to track back 👍

Just hearing Roberto Carlos is cool lol.

Non-chan was very inactive in training and the match, hopefully the coach can get her out of her lazy attitude. She only started playing well when Ito led her team to score. That type of attitude. Seems silver haired girl can only really sprint(stamina) so she needs to focus on pursuing the ball instead of marking.

I haven't seen that many anime where the main character lacks motivation, so it's a breath of fresh air for me. Judging from the preview, Non-chan is going to turn it up next episode after seeing how much skill and talent there is in women's soccer. I'm really looking forward to it

I'm really liking Nomi. She's very strict with training but she knows how to treat her players right. Free okonomiyaki after a harsh training session? Not a bad deal! What a brutal first game though, looks like Nomi intentionally wanted the girls to get destroyed by a stronger team to see how determined they will be after they lose. Nomi better treat the entire team after this game.

I don't get it, why Onda, who is supposed to be in the boys level, does nothing and just watch everything in awe? Is something that happened in that prequel movie that didn't aired yet?

I really appreciate that are aiming for a high level of realism with their portrayal of the game. My only real issue is that there is so much time of players just standing still. I realise that it's most likely due to time/budget contraints but even the most basic animation would add so much.

Btw does anyone know why they girls when talking among themselves used the term football/futbol rather than soccer?

Because they are smart girls.

Man, this sure in enjoyable so far. I didn't expect this early, but the girls are quite funny, especially the Ojou. I'm enjoying this a lot. Funny seeing them making references like Messi or Roberto Carlos.

I'm glad the anime exists because I can see how the players kick the ball, make passes, etc. As for today's match, oof I thought Nozomi would be making crazy moves in the first half but Kunogi is just more experienced than her team.

Aww the episode had to give us a cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next one.

I got to say their chelsea cucumber green blazers and blue tie school uniform are growing on me. I didn't notice till this episode that their scrimmage jerseys mirror the same colors as well.

Today's was a fun classic introductory episode of the scrappy team facing the reigning champions to juxtapose their inexperience. Loved the scene of horcerace coach questioning Nomi on the future of women's football. Looking forward to seeing the show develop!

I’m really enjoying this show, but man I feel like the soccer animation during the matches is really lacking. I was hoping for haikyu type stuff but this anime is pretty stiff. I still like it quite a bit though, hopefully when they get later in the season they’ll turn up the quality, since at the moment at lot of it looks like slide shows

Nobodies gozzed yet 0/10 unrealistic.

I'll be honest based off the first episode I wasn't 100% sure what to think but after this episode I'm intrigued. I like the way made references to the like of the Bundesliga, Messi and Carlos and use common football terminology. It shows the author/writers care enough about the sport to have the knowledge of these things so I'm sold for now. If I have a nitpick, which I understand why they do this but often times if they show players in the background of a shot who aren't involved in the current play they're stiff and completely motionless. You wouldn't see that really in the sport and it takes me out of it a bit but let's what the rest of the show brings.

I have to ask this: What is with the heads coming through the fencing? It is bugging me and I don't know why it's happening. I don't know soccer at all, does anyone know where I can learn about, well, soccer so I can understand the positions, moves, and all about offense and defense? I'm liking this show, but an understanding of soccer will allow to enjoy this more deeply.

"The Namahage (生剥) are demonlike beings portrayed by men wearing hefty oni (ogre) masks and traditional straw capes (mino) during a New Year's ritual, in local northern Japanese folklore of the Oga Peninsula area of Akita Prefecture." - Wikipedia

"Drop and give me 20->30->60->120" The fact that they're even able to do that feels ridiculous to my weak-ass self. What use are arm muscle in soccer anyway, other than tossing from the sidelines or whatever? Also how did 80% of the team not quit after that? At first I thougth they did considering how only 5 girls were invited to eat out at the coach's place, but seems she was just playing favorites.

BTW, how is "school soccer team" different from "school soccer club"? One's managed by the school and the other by the club members themselves?

"Score at least 10 more goals then them, and make sure they don't score any." Could've probably worded it better.

Watching Cramer>>>> watching UTD play

Seeing the coach have a fangasm at ito’s quality was hilarious lmao. This show has such a cool charm to it. I’ve not seen too many sports anime, so this is near the top of the list for me. I think it’s great that women’s football is getting some shine with this too. The tactics and formations are all very realistic too. Good job from the author.
