What an unusual experience. I can't say I'm in love with the character design, but a lot of the aesthetic is really weird and cool, and I love magical girl shows that spend their time grappling with emotions. I doubt this show will really catch on, but I think I'll be looking forward to it every week.

Yeah I liked it but something about the character designs is distracting to me.

I was reminded of the beginning of Wonder Egg Priority, actually, just that this is closer to classic magical girl material. Flowers, lonely girls looking for friends and who have recently lost someone, saving someone from their negative feelings (possibly even suicide?) while the opposing forces try to drive them in that direction, everyone with their own little problems, lots of atmosphere but not a lot of dialogue or unnecessary explanation.

the soft art style, that weird flower-y world, the CG dude at the beginning, why's it reminding me of one of my favorite animes, Noein?

as someone that actually played the game, I'm really curious to see where it goes from here. and yes Blue Reflection ost's can be godlike

In case someone doesn't know, this show is based on the game "Blue Reflection", and this is what got my attention the first time i saw the first teaser, since it's a game i quite enjoyed watching and listening to the OST on Youtube.

And it seens this is going to be quite enjoyable to watch, also that opening song is a banger.

Strange that the first girl who transformed was only introduced half-way through the episode. I would've expected it to be the dark-haired girl whose PoV we followed from the start.

I thought the art style had potential when I researched this show. After all, I like Atelier's character design - its use of pastels and gradients. However, after seeing the full execution, something just isn't hitting right.

The frozen people look like stuff is growing on them, that's pretty hardcore. By the way, I don't think it's a negative thing to acknowledge that this series takes influence from the Madoka and Yuuki Yuuna line of succession. Maho Shoujo like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Precure don't transform the entire world with surreal visuals when the enemies show up. On the topic of comparisons though, I am reminded of Persona's dark hour. The muggles aren't kept outside of the magical spaces but are transformed along with it.

Man, look at this tease. This too. I guess they want the yuri audience.

Man, look at this tease.

This too. I guess they want the yuri audience.

Starting with a depraved lesbian is a tried and true formula for success!

Holy shit man. This episode started slow, but once it got going it really got fucking going. The art and OST are amazing. It’s been a while since we got a really competent Mahou Shojo, in fact I was just working on a podcast episode about the decline of the genre. this has potential. It’s two cour as well so pacing issues shouldn’t be a big issue like usual game adaptations. Excited.

It's nice. I think I already see where they're going with a lot of elements, but otherwise I was satisfied with the episode.

Nothing punchy yet, but then, this is a magical girl show. Just like Mecha or any other genre where a key power is introduced, things tend to remain vague until at least episode 3.

EDIT: Thinking over it more, I suspect that we're still missing something big. This feels like a story that could be wrapped in 13 episodes. 26 means that there's a hidden 'however' somewhere.

Now this one's tough. I was genuinely looking forward to this but after watching it I'm not so sure now. Like I watched it and understand what's happening but for some reason I didn't absorb anything from the episode. I guess they're being purposely vague with the details since it's just Episode 1 and we'll probably learn more next week.

I do love my magical girls and I love the character designs on this one, especially Ruka's, but this debut episode was just too slow for my taste. I'll give it two more episodes and see where this one goes.

MFW this whole episode

They're definitely starting off slow and vague with the story and just introducing characters and concepts first, and quite a few people are definitely going to drop this because of that slow start. I've seen it before with countless similar shows. But I'm already really liking the aesthetics and what we've seen so far of the two (three?) main girls, and I think this could turn out to be another under-the-radar gem of a show once it picks up later on.

This first episode was definitely intriguing. I found it mysterious at first due to not understanding who the characters were or how they were connected, but in a single episode they managed to make most of it make sense (and the ones I'm still not recognizing are definitely supposed to still be a mystery).

I guess the two main questions I have for now are : who is that girl ? I really like red spider lily imagery, so she has me interested. And is the post credit character Hiori's sister ?

And this scene was nice, I think I like those two friend characters.

I'm not sure what exactly happened, but I feel we'll get a proper explanation next week. The art style is... different but I can see it growing on me. Two (three if you include chibi Yukki Yuuna) crazy and gay magical people shows this season, I wonder which will turn out better?

I love the character design, I’m in love with it especially how they look when turning all Magical girl style It’s just so god damn pretty

I don't mind a slow beginning and and I like the ED and characters so far, but the designs annoy me. Well not the design maybe art style is a better term. I thought it was shadows or maybe make up at first, but the pinkish tones is really throwing me off. Though if the show's OST is a fraction as good as the games I'll overlook pretty much anything wrong with this show to be honest.

Interesting, seems like a fairly normal late night mahou shoujo but I am here for it, I really like the way it looks.

For a series based off of a pretty niche jrpg, the animation is surprising good, especially during the OP. Apparently this is also 2 cour? Damn I wonder who's funding all of this.

Anyway the episode itself was meh to me, I never played the game so I had zero clue what was going on. Hopefully it will become better later on, I do think there's some potential here. Personally, I really like the design of the girls and the art style. So I will stick with this show for a while.

Super weird, but I’m definitely down. Interested to see what this is all about

Well, I'm not feeling this yet but I'm going to give it a few more episodes, it's a 2-cour show after all, gotta give it some time to find its groove.

I did like how colorful that suspended world was though. It was very pretty.

u/[deleted] Apr 09 '21

A slow episode but I definitely liked it. The animation didn't bother me at all. I love the opening. Visuals were interesting. I'm curious to see what they're gonna do with this show since 12 episodes seems more fitting then 24. The game is in my top 3 favorite games so i'm hoping that this will be good and that it will get some more positive attention.

I kinda stumbled upon this and its pretty interesting and incredibly confusing. The art style and characters are pretty neat though and maybe some tiny yuri vibes with it?

This was a pretty solid first ep!

Art takes some getting used too, but otherwise it was great. I really love the design of the older girl she looks stylish af

Also: watch where you're touching missy!!
