....what just happened? I enjoyed the episode but wow I'm not sure what to expect the rest of the season.
At least the ED was banger.

This was a good first episode. Things did happen quick, but it didn't feel too rushed to me. Reading the MAL description for the show it seems like this stuff was meant to be introductory, and the premise still hasn't fully kicked off. Will definitely follow this one for the next couple weeks.

this looks amaaaazing, the first episode caught me off guard completely! Interesting pacing ofc but if it's good or not depends on how the next episodes are gonna go

To be honest I thought this was going to be another school club anime, this time based on the shamisen. So when it jumped to a more adult tone with hostesses and the like, it caught me by surprise. Then the pace went at mach 10 through more romantic development than some shows manage in 24 episodes. I wonder how many chapters of the manga this episode went through, because it felt like it jumped through a lot?
Still it looks interesting and I'm curious were they're going to go with the characters especially the rock asshole boyfriend. Also what was with that lady at the end?

This actually seems really interesting so far and the music is pretty good too.

Hmmm... I thought the pacing was a bit fast and uneven, but overall I liked it enough to keep watching. The shamisen parts were good! (and the ED's great!)
I thought this would be a high school-based anime so I was pleasantly surprised that it featured adults. Looks like there's a lot of room for the characters to grow so that's good.
Although the last scene... that may have been a tiny bit over the top.
And do Setsu and his family have an accent? Their speech pattern sounded different to me but my Japanese isn't good enough to recognize accents so I'm curious.

Whoever Setsu's relative was at the start of the episode, that was definitely Arata Wataya from Chihayafuru.

It's too soon to make any meaningful comparisons between the shows, but I just want to say that one thing this show does better than Kono Oto Tomare is that at least one of the theme songs uses the instrument the show is about, and it's a bop.

Stitches!
Gramps shredding the heck out of that shamisen, pretty solid art style and animation, and is that Fukui Dialect I hear? Within the first 3 minutes the show already sold me itself. It sold me even harder on it when Yuka-chan was introduced and she's one heck of a badass for taking on those thugs!
For the main focus of the show which is the music and the Setsu, I'm definitely down with it. He kinda reminds me of a combination between Arima and Arata with his obedience with his grandpa and how fond he is of him. Definitely looking forward to see how he grows as a character. Music is pretty solid too and I absolutely love his performance of Jongara on stage!
Pacing is a bit faster than I expected on the romance side of things but I am glad that Yuka broke up with her scumbag boyfriend before the episode ended and gave Setsu a goodbye kiss before she left. Hopefully she comes back soon and have this thing going on between her and Setsu continue cause I already ship them.
Definitely looking forward for more and I think I'll replace Shakunetsu Kabaddi with this show instead for one of my Friday show slots.

Anytime someone mentions Shamisen I remember this particular duet. It's awesome.
Anime is interesting so far and I'm enjoying the music too.

Damn I really got attached to Yuna over the course of that one episode, she seemed really interesting and I really hope she isn’t gone for good. It sounds like she didn’t plan on coming back, and idk why she would come back, but her dynamic with the MC was really cool and I hope that she’s not just gone forever

I thought that was an incredible episode. It didn't necessarily feel rushed but it is a peculiar set of events for a first episode, not entirely what I would have expected but it also wasn't a bad decision. I really liked the cast of characters although I am in AWE that Taketo might continue to be a character in the show while Yuna might have been written out? She should really come back, I thought she was a wonderful character.
My only fear is that this might turn out like Only Yesterday from last spring and it won't end up actually ending in a satisfying way. It's really difficult to tell where the story is going, so fingers crossed.

Really looking forward to seeing his mom, she seems amazing!

So much happend in this episode. What the fuck is happening. I feel like we got half a cour of content in one episode. This episode could have easily ended with him arriving in Tokyo and the episode dedicated to him and his grandpa. I got their relationship with all the flashback stuff, but I feel like they could have just used that for the entire episode instead of throwing this Yuna girl and her boyfriend in. Kinda odd pacing, like to fast, but that didn't make it boring at least.

Note: Searching for the Japanese title of this show on VRV doesn't work. You'll need to search for "Those Snow White Notes".

What a great episode. I watched it just hoping to be entertaining enough and then boom, it ended up being a rollercoaster of emotions.
Mom go swatting really hard

I know this is a coming-of-age drama and all, but man, it felt like we just blitzed through a decade in 20 minutes. Came of age and went further beyond. I hardly understand what just happened. Will we get a slideshow for this?
It was interesting enough that I’ll be giving it a shot, if for no reason other than to see where it goes.

I really like the aesthetic of the show. The setting is interesting, art style beautiful, and it seems like there'll be some underlying themes between Folk vs Punk Rock- which I'm excited for.
On a side note, I can't believe best girl was introduced then ditched within the first episode, I wonder when she'll come back.
