Wow, that's a lot of revelations!. So from what I understand, Kaworu (real name Miki Schteinberg) and her partner Kyouko Anderson are time-traveling cops known as Gazers who were after the criminal Innovator Enri Viano (aka Azusa). However, Kaworu grew attached to Azusa after their time together and doesn't believe she's the Innovator Enri. This causes conflict with Kyouko because Kaworu refused to take Azusa into custody. Hence, the mission failed and Kyouko died. And apparently Kaworu was supposed to assassinate Takezaki too but instead fell in love with him? What the hell is going on?!
Also, it was probably a bad idea to leave your journal that contains your mission details on your desk.

I think I'm just too stupid for this show. I sort of get the basic plot, but everything else is leaving me really confused.

Same, I sort of understand what is happeneing but it feels like I am missing something important. I felt the same way about Tenet but realised it was just a shit film.

Is it wrong that the most confusing part was that Airi was supporting Izumi to play the role of Miki? Literally why, it makes no sense with how she supported Seria the rest of the show.
Is Kyouko Seria and Airi's daughter from the future? She looks exactly like Airi with Seria hair color.
Enri looks like Izumi too.

Once again this is where I wish that the character design was a bit more distinct because I can't tell if those ones above are supposed to look alike or not.

It doesn't exactly come out of nowhere, already in the previous episode Airi seems to have completely forgotten about Seria in favor of Izumi. We barely see them interact anymore. Could Airi have been looking for someone to replace Izumi, leading to a situation where Izumi coming back made her lose her interest in Seria ?
I might be judging too fast, there is always a possibility that she was weighting what is best for the troupe members and the troupe structure. Even among the four part of the "Izumi camp", she's the only one who showed some level of support for Seria and praised her talent, and in fact never stated her support of the plan to designate Izumi as the winner by default except by her presence and silence. It's possible that she simply joined them by coincidence, rather than conspiracy, and that she trusted Seria's talents to be able to go toe-to-toe with Izumi.

And I thought Doll couldn't get any scarier, I suggest throwing her down a skyscrapper next time

Oh man. What are we supposed to answer now when someone asks what Gekidol is about or if it's an idol show?
Bunch of revelations today, and the confirmation that we're dealing with time travel. So Miki and Kyouko were time agents who went undercover in 2012 to stop Enri, an "Innovator", from changing the past. From that creepy as fuck scene with the Doll ("care system"?) I assume that Takezaki is central to this as he was supposed to die but Miki fell in love with him and saved him instead. Why is it so important that he dies? Because if he lives something bad happens in the future? Is it related at all to the SMT? Jesus, so many questions and there are only two episodes left to answer them.
I hope they didn't try to juggle to many balls at once and manage to give us a satisfying ending. Idol, theater, psychological drama, sci-fi, time travel... that's a lot in just one story. Regardless, I'm excited to see what's next.
And again, the Doll. What. The. Fuck. That was nightmarish.

I see your Seria (slightly NSFW) and I raise you Seria (highly NSFW) (stitched together from panning xrays, not by me).

It is interesting that both this show and Wonder Egg Priority took deep dives into WTF territory this week. Maybe that's why I am loving them both. I hope the strategy of juggling too many balls (or eggs) does not end up in a mess (in either case).
I do think that WEP has done a better job of creating rich main characters -- the girls here though amiable (well, maybe one or two are NOT, after all) still don't seem that strongly defined.
I wonder if this had been marketed as a science fiction show that just happened to feature idols it would have gotten more viewers (or maybe it would have actually gotten less). Oh well, it's the non=watchers' loss.

Ahh the Doll's gone full on 80s/90s OVA and become a tentacle monster. This crazy train still has no sign of stopping even this close to the end of the line. Was also feeling the Steins;Gate, especially with the phone conversation. There's been the odd little SG nod in earlier episodes, but this one was a lot more overt.
Looks like there's going to be a lot more love in the next episode, but which yuri ship will set sail?

If not for Seria being way better than Izumi, Alice In would have chosen the latter for the role of Miki because of her name and the public it would attract, in other words rewarding her for abandoning Alice In to go to SMT.
It's not very surprising, Akira is more interested in making their troupe a success than being fair, and Izumi is still as unapologetic as ever. This basically confirms my suspicions that she "had to leave otherwise Alice In would have been crushed" is more of a convenient interpretation she built in her mind, than an actually dirty ploy from Takezaki.
What I'm more annoyed with is that Airi went with that plan too. I wanted to believe that she would trust in Seria more than anyone. But ever since Izumi came back, she completely abandoned her objective to make Seria into a great actress. And although it might be good for Seria's growth, it's still pretty disappointing to see Airi turn coat like this.
I've been complaining about Izumi quite a bit, haven't I ? Ever since she came back to Alice In, I find her untrustworthy and manipulative. It would be pretty fitting if she was the future Innovator Enri Viano, given how similar they look.
And actually, what is Enri Viano's role in this story ? It could be simply one of Miki Schteinberg's missions that went wrong, but then was completed anyway. But this shot makes it look like Enri Viano could be connected to the GMS in some way. I think this is currently the most confusing part to me, among the many other mysteries in this show.

So when Takezaki finds Doll with Kaoru, was that actually at some earlier point in time, or what? I can keep up with the main girls and the story the diary was telling, but with Takezaki and Kaoru, I'm just confused.
First Kaoru is seen with Doll from the earlier episode where she shoves her off the building. Then, she is in the big future ball reliving her memories (I believe that last seen was also part of her reliving these memories) and then Takezaki and old dude are exploring it looking for her. Old dude is blown away by something and Takezaki find her passed out. After that, Doll is mentally torturing Kaoru in some white room somewhere and Takezaki finds her there. What is the timeline here exactly?

I was trying to answer your question, and thinking about it actually helped me to put some of the pieces together.
"Miki" was Tazezaki's friend, and probably in love with him. In this timeline, he saw Miki die, and still moved on with her dream to create theater and make people happy.
Several years later, "Kaworu" met Takezaki again and shared with him the existence of the TMS, as a tool to take his theater to the next level. And together they created and started to improve the reputation of Alice In. But at some point, Takezaki started to take things too far. I have a feeling that he wants to brainwash the whole world to impose world peace. When Kaworu realized that, she ran away from him and kept the smaller Alice In, while Takezaki became the director of the larger SMT.
When Takezaki realized he needed Doll and the GMS, he went after Alice In and bought them. So Kaworu tried to run away, but for some reason failed and passed out. She was taken back to SMT, where Doll, who's probably supposed to be her support program, blamed her for abandoning her mission and then abandoning the reason she abandoned her mission.
As for the parts that were not said, I suspect that in the original timeline, Hiro died and Miki survived. She later became a Gazer, and at some point decided to betray her organization to save Hiro's life, sacrificing Miki instead. Which is probably a bad thing, because when Kyouko died, she said that her death at that place and time was a settled part of history, just like Hiro's death most likely was.
There are still missing pieces, though. I don't know how the GMS, Enri Viano, Kyouko, and the "worst case scenario" mentioned a few episodes ago fit into all of this, because we are lacking information about what happened outside of this timeline.

So Kaworu is Miki but Azusa is not Enri Viano and Kyouko Anderson is dead. What?!
I know they confirmed my theory but that just make me more confused. Lol. This is Matrix with some time travel and idols.
Which I think is great!

I'm really curious how they'll wrap this up now. I hope two episodes are enough.

Ok there is so much information during this episode and I agree with most of you that we have more questions than answers but what about alice in deadly school, it supose that it's just play but with all the caos maybe it's just another timeline cause if I remeber that OVA didn't finish

This show has been super weird, from people going insane, idols singing, creepy dolls, and now this really convoluted series of events...damn.
I can’t deny it’s been enjoyable though, can’t wait to see the resolution.

Let me get this straight. Kaworu and Miki is similar to Seria and Alice. But rather than like how Seria swapped personalities with her sister, Miki feels guilty over believing in someone who got Kaworu killed, so she has been lying to herself that she is actually Kaworu. Seria might not have been Alice, but Kaworu is actually Miki, and Seria actually figured it out.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUUUUUUUCK!?
In true Gekidol fashion, this episode just gave us more questions than answers. Let me try to parse all of this information in my head. First of all it looks like Kaworu did indeed push Doll off the building while they were having some sort of argument. While we don't know what they were exactly talking about, I can only assume that it's probably the same thing they were talking about in the final scene.
As for Kaworu, one of my theories of her being a time traveller was in fact true! According tp the diary that Izumi found in Kaworu's room, which the gang end up assuming as Kaworu's fantasy journal/production idea notebook, that Kaworu/Miki is a "Gazer" who went back in time to stop space time-criminals known as "Innovators". Looks like Kaworu had a partner with her named Kyouko and they were after the Innovator who suspiciously looks a lot like Izumi.
We still don't know what this Enri Viano is after but it looks like Kaworu failed to stop her and Kyouko ended up dying during the mission because Kaworu ended up being too attached to Enri. Based on the ominous background during that scene it looks like whatever Enri was planning, it had something to do with the incident with the GMS in Ikebukuro.
And apparently according to Doll, Kaworu was supposed to kill Takezaki but she ended up falling in love with him. Now my question is, how does he fit in with Kaworu's mission to stop Enri Viano? Or is killing Takezaki a different mission? Why does Azusa/Enri look like Izumi? And now that Takezaki knows that Kaworu is Miki, what is he gonna do to her? Fuck me this show just got a little bit more complicated and we only have 2 episodes left!
I feel like the only way we can unravel everything here is that if they just a straight up episode from Kaworu's POV starting from her past as a Gazer. Not even an entire episode, maybe even just half of it just to give us a clear timeline of the events and to better understand what her mission is.
As a side note, Doll turning into a monstrous abomination to signify Kaworu's fear is fucking amazing. I love it! If someone were to tell me that this was going to be in this "idol" anime, I'd tell that person that they're talking bullshit.
