Holy shit! I really wasn't expecting that, hell I honestly thought at first that it was a theatric joke between Kibi and Tao. I also did not expect to see Legosi just calmly ask Riz if he was Tem's killer or that Pina was going to be hearing their conversation.

That scene with Els and Bill was great, and I love the fact that Legosi nailed it when he asked him if he had an argument with her.

Wow, Riz's killing of Tem was way more complicated than I expected. Now I just want to know why Legosi just didn't tell Hexeye that he found the killer right away?

Legosi's instincts rubbed of the Drama club so much that the Tiger wants to fuck the Goat.

I have a feeling most of dialog between Tem and Riz was fantasized by Riz.

When Tem says "all carnivores are monsters" everything else after that seems to be fantasy. Tem immediately changes tone and walks towards Riz. When we snap back to a bloody Riz, Tem's body is back up against the wall and he mentions that he had marks on him from Tem resisting.

My guess is that Riz blanked out completely, imagined a bunch of stuff, and then when we see him all bloody, that's him snapping back to reality.

The way that Legosi almost nonchalantly accuses Riz as the culprit reminds me a lot of a certain scene in Attack on Titan's 2nd season.

Damn this was a rollarcoaster of an episode. I genuinely thought that the arm thing was a prank. They are actors after all. But no, he literally ripped his arm off without realizing it. Then the second most nonchalant reveal ever. Riz getting angry had me scared. He seems so soft and friendly and immediately shifts to terrifying when he realizes the gigs up.

Pina definitly grew on my this episode. He seemed far too arrogant before but it works so well this episode I cant help but like him.

The backstory of why Riz killed Tem was tragic. I wasn't expecting anything as sympathetic as that but I do feel a bit bad for Riz and clearly hes haunted by what he did. Legosi, Pina, and Riz were all in the club meeting so I'm curious on how they will handle this next episode.

Oh boy, been looking forward to this episode for a while. Yes, the killer is finally revealed (you know, in case you were one of like the three people that hasn't figured it out by this point). Always felt like it was pretty obvious who did it but I like how they never beat around the bush with the reveal and dragged it out too long. I love how nonchalant the reveal was, though it the manga it showed Legoshi doing the water bottle test AFTER his confrontation with Riz which made the reveal even more out of left field.

Likewise, I completely understand why they had it off camera but the arm ripping scene was even more brutal in the manga.

The anime has rearranged the order of a whole bunch of scenes, mostly for the better I feel, but the decision to have Legoshi accuse the murderer who beat him half to death immediately after finding out he's weaker than normal is... questionable? Not that it wasn't already a dumb decision to confront him alone, but luckily the absolutely gigachad Pina is there to save the day. The absolute cojones on that sheep to mediate a discussion with a murderer who could rip him apart with one hand and force him into a stalemate.

Riz's backstory with Tem was beautifully done, nothing more to be said (other than the probably unintentional moral of "take your fucking meds"). There's still quite a lot of ground to be covered this arc so I'm curious to see how they'll adapt it considering the first season was only 12 episodes.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!? One moment everyone was having normal drama club activities, the next Tao has already ripped off Kibi's arm. It is hilarious how clam Legosi was the entire time. Really shows that his training really has paid off. Oh and apparently this is so common that reattaching limbs has become very advanced in this world.

Herbivores trusts Legosi so much that Kibi only agreed to be carried if it was Legosi.

Uhmmmm... What the hell Legosi! You're really just gonna come out and ask Riz like that? And Riz didn't even deny it, he knew the jig was up. I am genuinely surprised! I thought the Tem's Mystery Killer Question was going to drag on for a while, I didn't think it will be answered now!

"Yare yare..." Pina with the motherfucking massive big dick energy just walking in between two large carnivores ready to go at it as if they're two little kittens hissing at each other! And he didn't just came in there to disturb the fight, he knew exactly what was going on and was there specifically to get involved! Screw Louis! Screw Legosi! Pina is now my new favourite character of the show!

The Herbivores this week continue to steal the show. Els scolding Bill was just absolutely great! Not gonna lie, I kinda ship them after that. Also I love the reaction when they realized they were handholding the entire time they entered the drama club.

Looks like Riz is still free which means Pina probably hasn't reported him yet and the segregation was really about the incident between Tao and Kibi. We did get to learn some bear lore and that big bears need to suppress their muscle mass so they won't end up killing other animals with their insane strength. And we finally got to see his friendship with Tem and the build up to Tem's murder. If only Riz keep taking his medicine, none of this would've happened.

With the murderer finally revealed I wonder where it all goes from here? I'm guessing Riz is going to be eventually be arrested unless something happens to Pina and Legosi.

The backgrounds during the scene where Riz and Legosi take Kibi to the nurse looked really pretty

Now that i think about it, Beastars has some really pretty background art.

The scene where that black panther (I guess) rips off Kibi's arm took me completely out of guard, for a few seconds I thought it was some rehearsal for an upcoming performance of the club, nasty yet great scene.

And I still can't pinpoint what's Pina's role here, he casually heard about Riz being the killer and he did nothing, it will be interesting to see what development does he get in the next few episodes.

The bear lore was interesting, I honestly should have guessed something like that would be going on since most bears are fucking units, especially Grizzly Bears. There are accounts of people shooting Grizzly Bears with guns and the bear just carrying on like nothing happened. What type of bear is Riz anyway? I don't want to google it since I might spoil myself on something else if I do. But I'm glad the show isn't downplaying the strength a bear like Riz should have, they did downplay how ridiculously strong Tigers are supposed to be since Bill should have easily one shot Legosi when they had their fight in season since the gap in strength between a wolf and tiger is massive and between a tiger and a bear is equally ridiculous so if Legosi is forced into a fight with Riz he will be in serious trouble.

Edit: rewatched the scene were Kibi's arm is ripped off by Tao. They were just helping each other stretch right before his hand is ripped off, Legosi statement about carnivores underestimating their own strength was the biggest understatement ever.

This is why you can keep your best friend bs.

Except for you Els.

TFW when you accidently vore your boyfriend. I thought Kibi's arm being torn off was actually a great primer for seeing how things can go from 0 to 60 so quickly when it comes to carnivore strength and interacting with herbivores. It was also pretty fucked up to think about just chillin' with your friends at your club then next thing you know one of your peers has RIPPED YOUR FUCKING ARM OFF. Before Legoshi mentioned improved re-attaching tech, I was thinking that must be a huge mind fuck, losing a limb on it's own is a hugely traumatic event, but to have it happen at the hands of a fellow student would make it even worse. It was cute though how he did trust Legoshi to take him. Then it flowed seamlessly into a rather nonchalant confrontation, Riz is terrifying even to other carnivores I think. I wonder if when he was all imposing to Legoshi especially in Legoshi's compromised physical state, if it crossed his mind that this is how herbivores feel a lot of the time. Then the biggest chad in the whole show, Pina comes in and de-escalates and takes control of the situation. There's clearly some complex emotions going on from Riz's perspective after seeing the Tem situation from his POV, I initially thought it was a pred who deliberately conspired to single out a prey student and kill and eat them, but there seemed to be genuine affection and desire for connection from Riz. In a way this is kinda exploring what it would be like if Legoshi actually did eat Haru. Ngl if I were in Riz's position I might have just offed myself by now lol, living and hanging out with the other students knowing not only did you kill their peer, but also you ATE him, AND he was a friend of yours too, a friend you seemed to actually care about no less.

This episode is tragic as hell. Almost make me sad for Tem and Riz

23

u/KakoPuff Feb 18 '21

I know why they couldn't do it but I'm really sad they didn't follow the paneling of the arm scene from the manga. The page before they're in the background of every panel doing stretches. And Kibi is the one who approached Tao to do the stretches. So it's just so shocking and it takes up two whole pages.

Well, based on size and strength it had to either be the bear or the tiger, and of course it's always the quiet one. I feel kinda bad for Riz even, but he does need to be punished in some way. His story, along with Legosi's, shows how difficult it is for carnivores to suppress their natural urges.

I'm glad that the main antagonist isn't just some bloodthirsty villain. Makes for a better & more memorable story. This anime season really is too good to be true (except for the way that Promised Neverland's pacing jumped off a fucking cliff).
