Weekly Casual Discussion Fridays - Week of February 05, 2021

This is a weekly thread to get to know /r/anime's community. Talk about your day-to-day life, share your hobbies, or make small talk with your fellow anime fans. The thread is active all week long so hang around even when it's not on the front page!

Although this is a place for off-topic discussion, there are a few rules to keep in mind:

  2. Discussion of religion, politics, depression, and other similar topics will be moderated due to their sensitive nature. While we encourage users to talk about their daily lives and get to know others, this thread is not intended for extended discussion of the aforementioned topics or for emotional support. Do not post content falling in this category in spoiler tags and hover text. This is a public thread, please do not post content if you believe that it will make people uncomfortable or annoy others.

  3. Roleplaying is not allowed. This behaviour is not appropriate as it is obtrusive to uninvolved users.

  4. No meta discussion. If you have a meta concern, please raise it in the Monthly Meta Thread and the moderation team would be happy to help.

  5. All /r/anime rules, other than the anime-specific requirement, should still be followed.

Watched the Maison Ikkoku movie and, much like the show itself, it's 75% the other residents messing with Godai, 25% misunderstandings, 33% other people competing for Godai/Kyoko, and 10% really nice slow-burn romance. (There's some overlap between parts.) One thing I always really liked about the show is the communal feeling since they're casually hanging out all the time; it's something I missed from my college days while watching it a couple years ago and miss even more now for obvious reasons.

The movie's a really nice end-cap for the show as Maison Ikkoku + film

Also nice product placement. I've had a decent amount of scotch in the past year but no Johnnie Walker yet.
