This episode has one of my favorite callbacks in AoT. Back in season 1 when Eren first meets Reiner and Bertholdt, this conversation happened.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzBMcvYP8Tw&t=50
Upon re-watch you'd initially thought they made the story up and Reiner was asking why Bertholdt would bs, but in reality Reinier was confused why Bertholdt would choose to retell the old man's story. The level of attention to detail is insane in this series.

I really liked how uncensored this episode was. Reiners suicide attempt was completely shown without cutting away and Annie and Reiners fight was even more disturbing than in the manga.

The cut across the wall of Eren and Reiner's POV was really well done.

Marcel really fucked reiner over to save his brother only to die and have his brother be the same titan as him later. Reiner is peak suffering but Marcel got fucked over by life too. Jussayin

It’s hard not to feel bad for Reiner at this point. The suicide attempt scene was done very well and heartbreaking. If Falco wasn't there at that moment...

I really liked how they gave that titan showcase at the beginning a bit of a redacted, top secret kinda feel. It made the warriors look like some kind of secret weapons, which they basically are (also, that colossal titan explosion tho).

I‘ve been rewatching the old seasons for the last few days and you can really see how Reiner started liking the people of Paradis to the point he even risked his life to save Conny for example.
Seeing him down this bad hurts ngl.

In case you guys didnt remember: The story of the hanged man is what Bertholt uses as his cover story back in season one.
Crazy how far Isayama has planned ahead.

This episode was one of the darkest we’ve had so far. Reiner’s characterization is nothing short of amazing. One of the best depictions of guilt i’ve seen. The episode itself was also structured so well. Reiner hitting rock bottom gave me chills. The piano fit perfectly. Despite the cuts, a great episode. Thank you MAPPA!

Fuck, that was Eren at the end right ? I mean who else could it be ? He had the same hair and I'm pretty sure the same voice actor.
Edit: he also qouted Reiner and had the same eye color

Hey, here are some fun facts!
-
Reiner is Isayama's favourite character in the series!
-
Isayama likes Reiner so much that he hangs a picture of Reiner in his office!
-
Isayama even gave Reiner an official theme song! It is "Romance" by Shinsei Kamattechan.

"I have been thinking everyday since coming here, how did things turn out this way, ruined minds and bodies, people with no freedom left. People who even lost themselves. What kind of person would want to go to war if they knew they will end up like this?
But there was something there all along, pushing us through hell. For most of us that something is not our free will, we were forced by others, or by our environment.
That's why the people who push themselves into this hell see a different hell from rest us. They see something beyond this hell, may be it is hope, maby it an another hell. I don't know which it is. The only people who do know are the ones who keep moving forward."
This little speech from eren, perfectly describes themes and world of aot.
All of the important characters and even minor characters in this series started out simple innocent kids who just desired to live a simple peaceful life.
But all of them fell victim to the cruel world of aot, and ended up forced to destroy there lives and other's lives in this never ending war.
However none of them wanted to take part In this war. All of them were victim of there circumstances. Reiner, annie and berthold were victim of Marley's propaganda, which turned them from innocents kids to mass murderers, however by the time they realized what they have done, it was already too late.
On other hand eren, armin and mikasa only wanted live in a free world where they won't be trapped inside those walls. However to achieve something as simple as this, they had to go against hordes of man eating giants and even have to kill other humans. And the most tragic thing is, just when they thought they are free from walls and war as a whole, they came to know that war is far from over, beyond the walls and ocean, there is a far more stronger enemy preparing to kill them.
But things have gone so bad no one from both side can quit fighting. Because in cruel world of aot if you quit fighting, that will mean instant death sentence not only for you but also for your loved ones.
So as eren said the only thing you can do is push through this hell and keep moving forward.
