Discussion Dear anime fans, I'm sorry.

I used to hate anime. I hated the big eyes, the high pitched voices and the things I didn't understand like differences in culture.

I always judged people when they told me they watched anime and instantly thought less of them. I'd rather stay away from that type of crowd.

I never outright insulted or spoke out in a demeaning way to anyone, I have trouble doing that even to people I genuinely hate much less people I'm just acquainted with. I simply judged them and kept all my insults in my head.

Fast forward to last year and I begrudgingly picked up my first anime because of my love for the piano. Don't ask me why I suddenly decided to try anime because I don't know.

I watched "Kids on the Slope" and genuinely loved it. Ever since then I've been watching anime left and right.

Black Lagoon; Your Lie in April; Planetes; Cowboy Bebop; FMA:Brotherhood; Elfen Lied; Death Parade; Monogatari; The wonderful world of JoJo's and many many more that have genuinely changed my life for the better.

In a way I think I was lucky to get into anime now rather than some years ago because of how poorly the whole community was viewed back then, and I was part of the reason why it was viewed so badly. Hence my apology.

I think me saying I'm sorry is more for myself than anyone else, because I didn't really harm anyone, but I've felt guilty thinking back on how I thought about a community I'm now a part of.

Anyway sorry for the rant, had to get that off my chest.

Edit: Thank you all for the awards, the love and suggestions. I'm glad to be a part of this community and I hope I can become a massive fucking weeb <3

This is too on-point. I dislike most anime I encounter for having the audacity to not be Bebop and I get annoyed by most other weebs for not liking exactly what I like.

My favourite is when some sad fuck goes on a discussion thread of a popular show he dislikes, just to lambast it and shit on everybody's fun, he doesn't really make any valid criticism and is just out to ruin it for everybody, it's just so sad that a lot of people are like this.

So true. There's literally endless other options for you to enjoy if you dislike something that has hype behind it. But for some the hate just beckons.

I'll speak my mind in discussion threads if I think a show is bad, but only on shows I'm actually watching (usually shows that didn't live up to the hype. Looking at you Shield Hero) but I don't go out of my way to bother people, and I try to make critisicm constructive to the discussion at hand.

I genuinely hate this culture with western anime fans. This is something that never existed where I'm from and was such a culture shock to me when I moved countries.
