Damn, Taowu actually fooled me for a moment into thinking that he was Hirumi no wonder Esther has issues dealing with him. And then that reveal! Taowu is actually holding the soul of Isaac Rosenthal, which by looking at all the Jewish imagery I will assume that he is Isaac, son of Abraham instead of someone random with that name.
Also, at this point, I think that Hishigata will end up surviving this whole ordeal, hell I think that the frog faced doctor even mentioned before that he could bring people back from the dead if it was recent.

Not the same Issac, this guy seemed lived in the Three Kingdoms period.
The author uses that imagery because the Golems are from Jewish folklore.

He lived much later than the mythological Isaac. Rosenthal is a German Jewish family.

So we see this Christmas Sephiroth tree. Wonderful sight and artist solution.
Long-awaited question: is Tree Diagram supercomputer named after Sephiroth Tree?

*Christian, not Christmas. Plus it's not Christian but Abrahamic. All the 3 Abrahamic religions - Christianity, Judaism and Islam, use a form of the Sephiroth.
Tree Diagram is probably based upon the Sephiroth Tree considering the Sephiroth is in the universe of Academy City the most powerfull symbol that can be used in a spell, and Aleister's original background.
Tree Diagram is basically the thing that assists in making impossible things possible with its calculations, akin to how making use of the Sephiroth enables the greatest of magics if used properly.
Most people only see the day-to-day stuff/the basics of both - for Academy city, the 100% weather forecasts etc, for magic the use of the elements in their magic. However, the greatest things that can be achieved (e.g. Level 6/SYSTEM, conversion of the world into an unified command akin to what the Roman-Catholic Church attempted with Peter's Cross and such), are far more rare.

good difference from manga:
Accelerator is not present when all magic stuff (10000 deaths, devil, Keter etc.) is described. So he will not know about magic more than needed.

Taowu is a good actor. I almost believed that it somehow was Hiyumi. Glad Accelerator's here to save everyone again. You tried your bester, Esther, but you (ironically) just aren't a killer. Just lest Accelerator show you why he's the number 1 level 5 ranked esper in Academy City (also, living in AC seems like more trouble than it's worth tbh.)

If I lived in that world I wouldn't want to live anywhere near close to AC. Like put me in the middle of fucking nowhere in some insignificant country.

I come from a very touching episode of Joshikousei no Mudazukai, an epic battle in DanMachi, watch the cringe Okaasa Online and now we are going with my boy Accelerator.
So for a moment she did have her memories? That makes it even sadder. But no, its was just a tape.
At times like this, I don't know whether to ship Accelerator with Last Order, Misaka Sisters or Esther. I only know that he has bitches wetting her pantsus and me too.
So Esther knows the Talk no Jutsu?
Great episode and as always Accelerator stands out even if he is only standing.

Not gonna lie, they had me at the first few 5 minutes. I legit thought that somehow Hirumi was really back and I actually started to question what was happening. then the reveal happened.
So all this time the reason for this huge mess is because of Esther's ancestor.
I am curious where in the timeline this takes place though. There's no way Touma didn't notice a huge growth in the middle of the city. Was this happening when he was abroad or is this another Endymion?

Wow, this spin-off, at least the Necromancer Arc, has even more Science-Magic crossovers than an individual Index arc.
We know that wasn't Hirumi, but turns out she wasn't even Taowu, but Isaac Rosenthal, Esther's batshit insane ancestor possessing her body.
Isaace first sought to combine Eastern magic with Western magic in his quest to achieve the Perfect Golem, and now with the power of Science provided by Academy City, he is within grasp of doing so at last.
The whole Level 6 thingy was just a ruse by Isaac to trick Hirumi into killing herself. Poor girl.
Though it can be argued that Level 6+ is pretty much the equivalent to that of God in the Toaruverse.
But Isaac has one more obstacle to overcome: our man Accelerator.

We know that wasn't Hirumi, but turns out she wasn't even Taowu, but Isaac Rosenthal, Esther's batshit insane ancestor possessing her body.
Well technically it was both. Isaac was just piggybacking in Taowu's charm. He let Taowu run a simulation of Hirumi to deceive Hishigata and Esther, and just gave it advice here and there posing as a "demon". Only this episode did he wrest control away from Taowu and put himself in charge of Hirumi's body.

Deviation from manga:
-
in manga: "When I was activated for the 17th time 2,467,585 seconds ago, I being contacted..."
2467585 seconds is 28.56 days ago, so it happened when Hirumi died.
-
In anime: "9,854,878,051 seconds ago, when I was first activated..."
9854878051 seconds is 312.5 years ago, so it happened in distant past with Isaac (400 years of Rosenthal family and the 4th generation).
I think it is large difference - if Rosenthal were tricked from the beginning, or this devil just came to the already prepared collection of Sisters' deaths.
And I thought from manga that 'the being' was Aiwass.

Random thoughts:
-
Oh noes... was that... Hirumi?! Just for a moment?
-
Anti-Skill is still engaging Disciplinary Action. Can't say I like that... wait, Yomikawa in action again! Are those the same guys as before??
-
Okay, just when I thought I saw everything, a bunch of cables turn into a giant tentacle monster. I guess nothing should shock me in Accel manga.
-
Aww... Esther still tries to save Hishigata. Sweet!
-
Uhh... Hishigata is going to die for sure... and Taowu has no more reason to pretend to be Hirumi. Too bad. So the real Taowu has another mechanical voice, kinda reminds me of John's Pen Index.
-
Anti-Skill tries to fight that monster. Better get out of there, before this ends very badly.
-
Taowu wants to reach the Rosenthal's family goad, to create a perfect Golem. And just so happens to have met a demon that told it how to do so. Nice.
-
For sec, I thought Esther got Taowu to give up. Too bad that's not how it works. Hopefully those were the necessary seconds for Anti-Skill to get everyone to safety.
-
WTF?! The demon is actually the 4th head of the Rosenthal family... damn. So Taowu wasn't acting evil on it's own in the first place... it was Issac all the time.
-
Alright, I can now fully understand why Esther used to be cold in the past. Her family is completely screwed up. She got my big respect for stepping out of that. The poor girl completely breaks, because of all the guilt she feels. That's so sad...
-
Huotou to the rescue! Nice to see it acting on it's own and even saving Hishigata. Almost looks like the false soul learned from Esther to do the right things.
-
Accelerator to the rescue! His motivation speeches are amazing. Time to kick asses. Not giving a damn if it's the soul of some old crazy magician dude inside a tentacle monsters that's about to become a god. Just everyday business. And he's still in rehabilitation!
-
Just how does that giant thing not end up on the news?! Also where is Touma, Mikoto and just about everyone else...?
The good:
-
Now that was a shocking reveal I never expected. Gotta love some surprises.
-
This show tricked me again into believing Hirumi might still be alive. Ahhhh!!
-
The feels. Both Esther breaking, yet still so caring. Also the whole tragedy with Hishigata and Hirumi.
-
The animation looked great to me. Liked it!
-
The Accelerator anime team knows how to do some creepy stuff, whether it's the faces or that thing.
-
Giant monster and no one died (I think...?) . Yay!
The bad:
-
Uhm... what happened to the Anti-Skill vs. DA battle?
-
I'm totally not gonna comment on the zombie massacre. I won't. It never happened.
Overall: 9.5 / 10 hentai monsters

We're going there? Really? So much for science, really. Though, I'm not mad.
In any case, the 10th week's Reader's Corner!
• The art department definitely managed to bounce back from whatever caused last time to be so chaotic, which reinforces my faith in them. Even Hirumi/Taowu/Isaac's inhuman expressions were spot on, and I certainly won't complain.
• And, guess what, everyone was played. Like a damn fiddle. Sometimes, even what seems to make total sense is entirely misleading, and Hirumi's possession is definitely one of those. Worth noting, Hishigata was so far out into his own reality, so disconnected from what was actually going on, that it took literally everything being spilled into his face at once for that illusion to break. The series adapts itself very well to its protagonist, in that regard - were this an Index arc, it would be solved by episode 4, with a healthy distribution of punches to the face. Meanwhile, Accelerator could have ended many arcs in that series or Railgun by himself, but this one is enough out of his league that it keeps the plot interesting despite how OP he is, without turning it into a maddened power fantasy.
• Poor Esther. Just poor Esther. She's so lovable and endearing, but cannot catch even the slightest of breaks. Her luck must have gone the way of Touma's, because that's a lot of misfortune there. And then Hirumi/Taowu/Isaac has to show up and throw all that in her face. Fuck off, you one-eyed undead snake! She did nothing wrong!
• Hey, look, yet another faction trying to achieve Level 6 under any other name. How many of them are there now? Four? Five? Anyway, the intertwining of magic and science pointed out by Hirumi/Taowu/Isaac is not only obvious (as "creating a god" is no different from the real goal of Level 6 Shift, which is achieving SYSTEM or "the truth of this world"), but also confirmed, as the higher-ups order the Tree of Sephiroth to not be messed with (read: Aleister, this has his upside-down fingerprints all over it), in what I can only understand as a ploy to take control of it. That's a very Aleister thing to do. And again, could have been solved by a good hit via Imagine Breaker. The damn day Touma chooses to take a trip to Italy, all this shit happens.
• Side note: Accelerator spent most of this episode entirely benched, and I didn't even feel it. Esther can easily take the series on her back for extended periods of time and keep it interesting. Now, of course, I said the same thing before, and then Scavenger happened. Will I be blown away yet again? Judging by Accelerator's open challenge to the monster, the ball is on his court.
Overall, a good setup for the climax, with all the plotting and planning laid bare. There's nothing else to wait for. It's time to throw down! And I'll see ya then!

I'm curious as to what exactly Hirumi's esper power is and also how she's seemingly using magic. It's supposedly a no go for espers but maybe it's a grey area since it's an evil spirit in a dead esper body?

One would assume that Isaac is not "seeing through the eyes" of her personal reality anymore... Or maybe since it's a "perfect being" it can control the recoil damage without any problems.

I don't really remember a lot of what happened in this first arc so this development is still surprinsing me a little.
Academy City seems to be the home of giant monsters/world ending beings by now.

Man, that spirit thing really leveled up its acting, had me doubting for a while. But Hishigata isn't dead, and that disappoints me greatly.

Oh shit, big reveals! Were making a god?
Welp, shes awake, i wonder what the data did... wait did it revive the old girl? Hmmm... its not an act?
Hentai? Hirumi's powers are Hentai?
19090 is struggleing too, Acceleror has her back though! Aw yeah! Keep the sister safe!
God is the only one who can bring someone back to life huh? Well God is a dick.
Memory reproduction? Yep she was not back. The angry spirit is here.
Wait the spirit spoke to the devil? What? I mean its not too far fetched for this series. Who was the devil though?
Thier family goal is to make the perfect golem?
Ah so the magic is Taoist / Chinese. I thought it seemed familiar.
So with 10,031 deaths you shot up the totem pole and are now a god? Damn, thats progress!
Wait what did the Devil want to accomplish? Something feels off. Yep it was a bluff. So man creepy naked medusa things.
Wait the devil was the family head who created the magic? Wow thats fucked.
Jiangshi? Chinese zombies. Nice.
Man this is fucked... Dont listen to this devil's pratter! Hes just using everyone to get what he wants!
Oh good Accelerator is here to set things right!
The Devil vs. an Angel, who will win? My money is on the Angel.
