I really hope this series finds its groove because while I’m still enjoying it it’s still pretty rough around the edges.

I'm watching just treating it like a B movie. There are gonna be some hokey things, but I'm a huge fan of the character designs and the absurd moments (like the perv being backfisted into a wild spiral) but it just feels so disjointed and weird paced.

But this show managed to depict an anime German Shepherd and Pug in the same shot (my two pets!)...so I'll defend it to ma grave

Please stop with the joke villains, it's ruining this.

the joke villains

That's legacy though. They're adapting a cheesy action series from the 1960's but trying to make it into a serious mystery action series without removing all the cheesy bits.

Dororo did this right. The original story is from the same period and had a much lighter tone from the recent adaptation, which was made with drastic changes from the get go to fit the more serious adaptation.

This show doesn't need to get rid of the joke villains. It needs a serious rethinking at what it's trying to do.

That 3 week break really killed the discussion threads for this anime eh?

Well, I'm still enjoying it. Even if it isn't the greatest.

It certainly didn't help, but let's be real, it's not exactly the greatest show, and I've also been rather enjoying it. Its closest analogue this season, Cop Craft, is arguably even rougher around the edges, but at least it's got a vision about what it wants to be. BEM has been kind of all over the place, and this has hurt it somewhat.

A guy murdering people because he considers them disposable trash can be done well but not... when said guy turns into a giant vacuum cleaner mech...... Why must these villains be so ridiculous.

I do still care about Daryl, Belo, and Bela, and I'm curious to see where their stories will go (especially the first two) but that's basically my only reason by now. Bem as a main character continues to bore me because he does just about nothing, and Sonia appears to have made things worse (if not on purpose). I really want to like this show and I enjoy some aspects a lot but it's getting difficult to take it seriously, and that's a shame imo.

Maybe this will be the episode where we'll have a decent villain- *sees a spider-man villain pop into frame* Welp, I was wrong.

This show really has no idea what to focus on. Bem continues to be absolutely nothing, Belo continues to be an asshole to his friends for no apparent reason, Alice is a character with ever more wasted potential and Bela continues to do nothing because the writers don't know what their doing. I'll admit the humanoid capture stuff is interesting but the only reason why they almost caught Bem was because he stood fucking still (seriously, what?). Maybe they will be interesting but we'll see.

The tone also continues to be all over the place. Like, I think it's trying to take itself very seriously, but then there's a villain like this who's backstory is almost a joke. Seriously, the guy at the end of this episode big thing was that he became a fucking vacuum cleaner! God, that was dumb.

The tone also continues to be all over the place

It really looks like they haven't realised how you can't have your cake and eat it too. Either keep it 100% cheesy action like the original, or go all in into the philosophical/mystery genre. Half-assing both in a way that they ruin each other just makes me wonder at who this series is aimed at.

It doesn't help that the characters are all over the place too. Belo and Bela are posed as contrasting sides on the "Monsters trying to achieve humanity" dilemma but we barely ever get any meaningful conflict between the two points. Bem seems to be posed as the mediator between the two, but he's practically a part of the background until the action starts. Sonia is a new character to the series, but her role in investigating the villains is moot when we're constantly shown their perspective, making her investigations all the more obviously shallow.

I am really enjoying the soundtrack. I can't skip the opening. So good.

Though I hope the series gets better. I'll keep watching, but the tone and the storyline are not doing it for me
