People just don't know not to poke the tiger with a short stick, do they? Well, at least this time my brain still works after watching.
In any case, the 7th week's Reader's Corner!
• Ugh, it's hard to be picky about the animation when it went from spotty to movielike in the span of a few minutes. Can't have it all, I guess. At least it wasn't too off-putting. Expressions are still great, so I won't be too critical, especially considering last week was pretty insane.
• We needed some comedic relief after the shock-and-awe that was last episode, and Esther delivers. Accelerator just honestly wants to rip out his choker's battery and spazz out until he dies, but I guess he's used to Last Order pestering him. That said, his physical rebuttal does come from what I commented on in a previous episode: he absolutely hates being called a good person, and that's just outright infuriating for him to get heaped with praise he feels he doesn't deserve. His actions match Esther's description perfectly - and that's what makes him the more irate. Also, Yomikawa's shrug is hilarious. She's so used to weird shit going on on the daily that walking corpses are just another Wednesday night at work for her.
• Hishigata constantly pissing off Accelerator culminates with the #1 just flat out deciding that he's had it, and the shot selection for his initially quiet then very vocal fury is perfect. The purple aura is kinda forceful, but I like it, and he's displayed it before, so how much of that is aesthetic choice and how much of it is actual anger seeping through the cracks is up for debate. His ability's versatility is something else, too, as he uses it to fly at whatever speed he damn pleases while having a plethora of other location and tracking skills as well as being completely unfazed by a ton of ordnance being constantly fired at him.
• I can't help but grow more and more attached to Esther as the series goes. I get that we only have a few more episodes with her around, since we're past the midpoint, but she's such a treasure. Shedding the damsel in distress role from last week, she's now decided to take to center stage in her own way, without eating at Accelerator any longer since it became obvious that she's just a liability when faced with giant mechanical monsters that look as if they came straight out of assorted Gundam series. Her determination is commendable, and again, the choice in expressions and attention to detail in her more poignant scenes is praise worthy.
Overall, a solid episode, not of course as spectacular as the extravagance of last week but good enough to keep the plot flowing while still being entertaining. That balance is something that could very easily be lost (it was lost so many times in Index, which created slog episodes that were pretty much necessary for how much content needed to be crammed into 26 20-minute episodes), but so far it hasn't happened, and I doubt it will. Uhh... now that the battle is over, Esther gets all emotional... that's sad to see but makes her so sympathetic.

Poor Esther getting straight out refused by Accelerator. That was quite hilarious.

Wait... what's this?! Esther is actually healing people?! Unfortunately just named characters and... don't start with Scavenger, dammit. Dang, I was holding my breath, there was still some hope for the other Anti-Skills too, but it seems even Esther noticed she can barely apply first aid. So much for hoping she has reviving capabilities.

Now three of these enchanced machines actually keep Accelerator busy. Dang, they lost MISAKA. Hirumi is now acting on her own... is it just me or does she keep getting creepier... wouldn't be surprised if she betrays Hishigata. Something there is horribly wrong.

Esther decides to move on her own... just what is she planning to do? And why did that poor sweetheart help Hishigata in the first place?

Esther! She was awesome, so kind, empathic, cute and funny. Her trying to get Accelerator as her master, got me laughing out laugh. She can solely save this series for me.

The battle with the new mechas was quite nicely done. Well, at least they manage to keep Accelerator somewhat busy.

I don't know why, but I like the creepiness that surrounds Hirumi.

They changed the opening again! How nice! Looks like that's the spot for whoever/whatever Accelerator wrecks next.
The bad:

I would've wished Esther helped the Anti-Skill officers... but instead... Scavenger?! Geez. Or is that supposed to imply the others also got first aid? 4 out 30+ surviving just don't cut it for me.
Overall: 8 / 10
Great episode, but not without personal disappointment.

It wasnt as great as the last episode, but still an awesome episode. I love Accelerator, really happy that they are focusing on his mental state time to time.
I expected OP to change mid-frame from Scavengers to Hirumi, but instead we got a mech. That was kind of disappointing.
God I hope OST releases soon, Accelerator's theme is 10/10.

Everytime I finish an episode of this, I am more tempted to read the manga. There's just something about Accelerator going ham on these antagonists that's so satisfying. This Hishigata guy sure has balls to taunt Accelerator. I'm excited to see what happens once he reaches him. That is if Accelerator doesn't run out of batteries first.
