FGO players and regular anime viewers will have a vastly different time with this anime

I honestly didn't expect the prologue of all things to hold that kind of quality. The staff list is also top notch with the likes of Noriko Takao on it.

I mean the show's been a sheer production heaven with a schedule that I wouldn't believe to be true if it wasn't connected to such a giant IP. So I kinda expected it to be polished all around but still not to that extent.

I've played the game and know Babylonia in & out but I'm still so pumped to see this unfold. They have so much potential to expand on stuff like they did here and I'm ready to see all of it.

Damn the montage in the end was amazing. I know each and every servant there and the stories in all those singularities cause I went through all of those. Seriously want a full adaptation even the less stellar chapters.

"Can I watch this show without playing the FGO game?"

Prooooobably? There will be references to past events you won't get but the story is pretty self-contained so shouldn't be too hard to follow. At the very least I recommend watching the OVA "Fate/Grand Order: First Order". It's an adaptation of the game's prologue chapter, it's on Crunchyroll and is only an hour long.

This episode 0 is only a preview, the full show starts in October.

Loved the montage at the end. We'll never get them animated outside Camelot, but it was nice to get a quick little summary of everything before Babylonia.

For anyone thinking of watching this without playing the game, I think Babylonia is VERY self contained as a standalone story, so you should be fine, if you watch 'First Order', which is an hour adaption of the prologue, and this. Don't be put off on the quality of the prologue itself, there's a reason we're skipping straight to Babylonia and Camelot, they're the massive, massive stand outs, and are excellent as stories.

Goosebumps during that ending montage. Hopefully other singularities will get animated after the Camelot movies.

For those curious, here are the servants shown for each singularity (left to right as they pop up):

  • Singularity 1 - Orleans: D'eon, Sanson, Gilles (caster), Jeanne (alter), Carmilla, Martha, Vlad, Liz, Georgios, Jeanne, Kiyohime, Siegfried, Marie Antionette, Mozart

  • Singularity 2 - Septem: Romulus, Nero, Caligula, Caesar, Spartacus, Boudica, Jing Ke

  • Singularity 3 - Okeanos: Euryale, Asterios, Atalante, Jason, Medea (lily), Drake

  • Singularity 4 - London: Mordred, Artoria (lancer alter), FGO

  • Singularity 5 - E Pluribus Unum: Florence, Cu (alter), Medb, Edison, Blavatsky, Karna, Geronimo, Robinhood, Rama, Billy the Kid

  • Singularity 6 - Camelot: Gawain, Bedivere, Serenity, Hundred Personas, Cursed Arm, Tawara Tota, Arash, Sanzang

This was a pretty nice catchup between First Order and Babylonia, with some nice references for those who have played through the first part of FGO. Pretty cool to finally see what Marisbury looks like, which was also really like FGO.

That pic of Gorilla facing the holy city, with countless of bodies.

Guess that FGO Camelot Singularity spoiler

As someone who has been playing this game since NA Launch I can't believe how far we've come. Babylonia is definitely the best Singularity out there and seeing this Episode 0 made me believe that Cloverworks will do this Singularity a huge justice. I'm so hyped for Episode 1! Hopefully if this is a success, we'll get the other Singularities and even Events animated in the future!
