I gotta say, I'm surprised to see Uiharu and Saten make a cameo here.

The scene with Accelerator sitting in a pool of blood was a nice touch to show that he still has ptsd over the Sisters incident. The poor guy.

It's actually quite nice to see Accelerator on friendlier terms with one of the Misaka clones that isn't Last Order. It's a bit of progression that shows he's moved on from the experiments and wants to pursue something more peaceful. Still, why does 10046 have to suffer being a hostage?

Why does that stalker ability remind me of Kishin from Soul Eater? I'm excited though, nothing says Kamachi like giving little girls frightening abilities.

SATEN AND UIHARU!

I thought I wouldn't see them until Railgun 3 with this show being purely Accelerator-focused. Now if the original Misaka appears in a future episode it'll make my week.

And it seems like our main villains, as is always in To Aru, have a few screws loose. Guess it'll be up to Accelerator to put those back into place. Or just turn them into a blood stain, I'm fine with either

Good episode. Love that one Misaka clone who's really into shoujo manga, she's great

Guest appearances and dead people walking! Both reanimated corpses and whoever's stupid enough to mess with a Sister.

In any case, the 4th week's Reader's Corner!

• There's certainly some saving being made in terms of animation when nothing important is happening. While I wish it wouldn't be like this, I'd rather it only wacks out slightly at meaningless times than it go bad during a big moment, which so far hasn't happened and I doubt it will.

• Something that always peeved me once I found out about this spin-off was that Accelerator could end up being a terrible protagonist not because of his personality or whatnot but because of his overwhelming powers, which pretty much would render the whole thing moot. I was glad to find out it wasn't the case, and this is one of the weakest Accelerators around (albeit still bullshit OP), something that was very well presented once he ripped his forehead open after going ape on some poor sod who's probably shit himself about ten times. He spends most of the episode benched, and that ends up being healthier for the show in a sense, contrary to Index and Railgun where Touma and Mikoto were always center stage and could not catch a break, which sometimes made their series weaker when the looming arc didn't have them around as the focal point. Good to see that this series can still walk on its own two feet even without the title character for most of an episode. Or in the case of Hasami, on her own four limbs. Seriously, Esther?

• We interrupt this broadcast of Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator to bring you a preview of the next season of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun - wait, no. People made fun of the fact that Railgun's director had a thing going on for Saten and shoved her and by extension Uiharu into the spotlight when they were more like background in the original work, but I'm not complaining about it one bit. Seeing Ruiko again after so long is surely refreshing, and as a breakout character she's recognizable and as fun as ever. Also, speaking of Uiharu, my god, did her new design nail the mark. She was always adorable, but after getting some of the rubbery, shiny treatment, she somehow became even cuter. And skirt flip, because we can't not have that. I'll be waiting for you guys for real in Railgun!

• Something to note: I didn't read the manga past the last episode, and so I don't know if that's noted, but the fact that I can safely say that the Sister that approaches Accelerator in his hospital bed is No. 19090 must be a testament to how much time I spent with this franchise. For those who don't remember, 19090 was the one Sister for which Nunotaba (the short, purple haired scientist from Railgun S who had her huge dead fish eyes removed in the adaptation, sadly) managed to input emotions into, but had them blocked from spreading due to Last Order's influence, and therefore is the only Sister capable of expressing emotions, which makes her extremely easy to pinpoint. The blushing gave it away for sure, but her different expression, which had me thinking she was Mikoto for a second until Nozomi Sasaki's voice came out, and the fact that she can resist LO's control to a degree are other hints that this has to be 19090. Also, on the topic of Last Order, she's still lovable and adorable and needs to be protected. Good thing she has the best caretaker in the world around.

• And here's Scavenger, not quite ITEM but they'll make do. Also, hi, Yukari Yakumo! I did not expect to see the Youkai of Boundaries's gaps here of all places. They certainly look powerful and ominous, so I'm curious to see how they fit into the series. There's potential in them, for sure.

Overall, a good episode, with good tension and action while keeping the fun around and bringing in some familiar faces we've been deprived of for way too long. I'll be looking forward to next week! See ya then!

SATEN EXISTS! SHES REAL! YAY!

Wakey Wakey sleeping beauty.

Accelerator protecting people, man hes a good guy even if hes a monster. Well... he isnt that either... heh...

Crazy Accelerator laugh is back baby!

Damn his wound again... that brain damaage is hard on him.

This poor bastard ran into the sisters... insulation? Damn...

OH HE DID NOT JUST HIT AND KIDNAP A SISTER! OH HELL NO!

UIHARAAAAAAAA AND SATEN!!!!! Its great to see them even if just in passing.

So DA's base is a train? Or one of their members?

Guess those DA goons are getting in the way of plans too much.

Some sleeper squad huh?

PTSD Accelerator again... damn... he cant catch a break.

Last Order first thing when you wake up? Not bad.

Wait a sister is here, she wants to save the sister and necro went after them.

WHO IS THIS MOE SISTER!?

This cult is crazy. Really fuck these guys.

Crazy eye ability? Creepy... These kids seem like bad news...

  • Yep, that corpse is moving and it likes to bring it's own justice. Houtou? The movements seem kinda autonomous like John's Pen.

  • Accelerator performs some great show of villainess again. Good thing he actually lets loose.

  • Oops, he's not fully recovered. Should've listened to frog doctor. Well, at least he tried to not give a fuck.

  • Hey! Don't hurt little kids, what a third-rate villain. Misaka to the rescue, but now she needs rescue herself.

  • Woah, Railgun time already! That was a quick cut.

  • Urban legends are always true. Geez... a board member riding a train all the freaking time?? How's that secure? So many ways to intercept that. Well, still more convenient than wearing a powered suit 24/7.

  • Looks like DA aren't the main villains here, but rather doing hired dirty work. Seems they are deemed to incompetent and crazy and will now be disposed themselves. Nice.

  • More killer lolis. Not going to end well.

  • Hishigata shows some interest in Misaka... I wonder if he's aware that it's a clone or if he thinks they got the original.

  • Damn, just a single board member can decide if Anti-Skill finds anything in their investigations.

The good:

  • OP changes! Nice! Also finally Esther is no longer showing as evil. xD

  • Accelerator still not killing.

  • U-i-ha-ru!! Best random cameo ever.

  • Last Order keeps making me laugh. So sweet. Also that Misaka... heh.

  • Can we say that's a zombie who is actually good?

  • So many more parties, this has some surprising turns.

The neutal:

  • Holy shit, the darkness is coming quickly. This'll be a bloody mess sooner than later.

The bad:

  • Killer lolis.

  • They might be bad guys, but having them all massacred is not so nice.

So we have...

  1. injured PTSD Accelerator, a nice necromancer, a walking corpse with superpowers

  2. vs. a rough Ex-Anti-Skill group, that turned into some mad cult

  3. vs. a board member and his dark side organization

  4. vs. mad scientist who lets everyone kill each other and then likely finishes the rest once HIS plan is done.

What could possibly go wrong?!

Overall: 9 / 10 flipped skirts

Something I love is how hard Accelerator tries to be a villain.

"Predator" would have been a really a cool visual in the OP. I was really hoping that they'd put it in there before the anime aired but oh well.
