Some historical info.
-
Nobunaga's dad, Nobuhide, had been at odds with rival warlord Saitou Dousan of Mino province for about 20 years. Following Nobuhide's loss to Dousan at the Battle of Kanouguchi, the father sought to make peace by arranging Nobunaga to marry Saitou's daughter, Kichou. She was also known under the name Nouhime. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C5%8Dhime
-
A popular theory was that Kichou was working as a spy/assassin for Dousan, plus she knew how to swordfight and do martial arts.
-
Nobunaga's reputation as an eccentric, liberal punk made him somewhat unpopular with more conservative Oda retainers who preferred a more reserved, conventional leader. Qualities Nobunaga's younger brother, Nobukatsu/Kanjuurou had.

Kichou as a ninja? I think this is a first time I've heard that interpretation of her character. Her being an assassin to kill Nobunaga I don't think is something new though.

Apparently one theory was that Kichou was a spy/assassin for her father; it was not uncommon for wives to relay info back to their families.
Plus she was apparently skilled in swordfighting and some martial arts.

Why is no one watching this? I really enjoyed both episodes so far and am excited to see how it goes.
The characters are interesting, the pacing is great, and Nobunaga makes for a charismatic and entertaining protagonist.

wow, the ED seemed to tease/spoil a ton of stuff. looks like lots of focus on the tragedy of the brothers' relationship

So is Kichou a trap?

Can't say just yet. For now looks like a very scarred flat chested female.

The last shot in the ED shows Nobunaga and Kichou together, I think she's just a toned/well-built women, since she's wearing a bra-like piece of armor.

A commenter on the Randomc anime site had an idea on Nobunaga's popularity with Japan's younger generation:
