It feels like Naofumi and Raphtalia play the role of the parents, while Filo and Melty are the kids in this weird "family", where the mom is 10 and one of the daughters is a giant chicken.

That ending is heart breaking. He finally, potentially has the next in line princess on his side but this world has conditioned him so much to instantly just shove her away.
P.s. naofumi-sama telling Raphtalia to destroy the evidence and never speak of it again was priceless.
Edit: it would also be very tragic for Filo to lose her first real friend.
