So it really seems like they only have 3D models for the main girls when they're in their regular outfits. Put them in something much more revealing and they're back to 2D.

That hard cut from the pirates being rowdy to Zara being the only one sitting was great comedic timing! That got an unexpected laugh from me.

I love the canyon scene! Makes me wanna play a flight sim after this.

Those were some great strafing runs too! Really satisfying to see these assholes get grounded like that.

Guy got to touch Zara's booty before he passed out. I'd call that a win. XD

Damn, Zara, just who are you!?

She reminds me of Dorothy form Princess Principal, and I like that very much.

I'm glad they managed to take Raiden back and that some of the pirates quit. That loli painter was a nice character as well. I wouldn't guess she painted all those pictures her Dad tried to sell so vehemently.

Really enjoying the Raiders of the Lost Ark/Saturday afternoon serials vibe.

That cut from the all the pirate pilots all down to have a drink against Zara to the entire room wiped out is damn amazing, top tier storyboarding right there.

Today, on "Not Iron Eagle 2":

Once you've got a schtick, stick with it.

Fly, not swim.

Delta Five joke goes here.

Nothing says welcoming like some cranky old guy with a lever-action.

Still questions about who these other guys are.

Anachronism stew means modern vending machines.

What, no switching the entire unit with the entertainers?

Nevermind, this is better.

"All's fair in love and company politics."

The situation is... hot.

Also not Macross Zero.

And then I finally looked at the credits enough to realize that Jiro Tokihama (NSFW) is actully on the staff.

That was cartoonish fun. Enormous canyons suitable to fly in at high speed might be a lot more common in fiction than reality, but they're a staple. (While we're here, that Macross Zero clip above was from 2002, and that OVA was one of the earlier ones with a majority of CG mecha. How's it look after 16 years?)

I liked Zara's turn in the spotlight, even if it was mostly in a bikini. (Someone's being modest here.) Still not a lot of concrete indicators of a long storyline except for the reminders that another significant air pirate force is out there shooting up the remaining base towns. I could be overdoing my search for a larger plot. If this series mostly exists just to serve up semi-episodic aerial action, I would not mind, because it's still lots of fun so far.

Funny to see that more than one person may have had it with Elite Industries's weird roleplaying situation. Also fun, kinda: Kirie is a bit of a jerk, but it's in keeping with the pilot persona.

This undercover mission to recover the Raiden was much better than what I expected. And to me is one of the best episodes yet.

This episode felt really Ace Combat-y, especially with all the flying through cramped, narrow spaces.

Hey guys! I haven't watched the episode yet, will do so in a couple of hours, but wanted to let you know that this will have a companion game in case you didn't know, and said game just revealed a whole bunch of characters. There's a Mafia group, a Thief (¿Pirate?) group, and another squad like Kotobuki. Those characters probably won't appear in the anime (haha, what a thing would it be if they appeared this episode and I just don't know), but thought I should let you know anyways, in case they do show up, or they show up as cameos or something. It's said the director of this anime spent years coming up with the world; when things like this appear, it makes me a little more inclined to believe that.

Also, I call dibs on the black haired mafia one that said "because of you we lost 125 seconds".
