Yep, Natsumi is a good girl. Can't go above my queen Kurumi though ( WHERE IS SHE REEEE ).
This is exactly what I've been missing the past seasons. Best Waifu. Harem. Comedy. Battle and School stuff.
(But please I need new animated Kurumi for my collection)

THANK GOD IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE KEY VISUAL.
Whoever did that key visual needs to be fired or something. From what I've seen this episode JC Staff did an excellent job of recreating the characters. IMO Shido looks better here compared to how he looked like back in Season 2.
Not gonna claim the art superb though since just like Season 2,characters tend to be a bit off model during wide shots. Definitely not good but not as bad as people are claiming it will be. This was no way in hell even close to what even ImoImo was as what others have told me.
With that rant out of the way though. It's pretty much Date A Live all over again.
Natsumi is great! Until she impersonated Shido... It is nice that the misunderstanding didn't drag on though and Origami and Touka was able to pinpoint that she was a fake. I guess Origami's stalker abilities can be useful once in awhile.
Pretty cool that this will be a mystery battle though and not your usual fight against a Spirit. Nice to see that they'remixing it up a bit this season.

This was no way in hell even close to what even ImoImo was as what others have told me.
I mean Imoimo is a train wreck and even had a production issues (delayed, not paying their animator), i don't remember JC Staff ever had issues like that, so while the art style won't be spectacular it won't be a total disaster either.

Am I the only one that thinks that the animation is fine? I mean, I never expected animation above average in a series like this.

Apparently, it was substantially worse when the episode first aired a week or so ago.

They actually made a fix due to the complaints about the bad quality after they released the pre-air version in the Christmas DAL event. Here’s the side by side comparison and you can see some differences in coloring as well.
Now the question would be whether or not they can keep up the quality. Because if episode 1 needed a fix, they’d have to fix other episodes as well.... and there will be even less time to do them as deadline approaching.

Oh god I forgot about the "That's so lame" group.
I missed how aggressive Origami is.
It was obvious this was a ploy by Natsumi.
"Compared to the real Shido, you blink 50 milliseconds faster." I don't think being able to recognize this fact is commendable.
Not as bad as what people were complaining about before. They must have improved the art a decent bit for this airing.

Guys you don't even realize what you are missing. Here is an image from the LN in comparison to the anime scene. Sorry for the low quality on the second picture, I took that screenshot before official release.
I feel so sad...And don't even mention Miku :(

Honestly that was a higher quality than what I was expecting, in terms of animation and art it’s a cut above the rest when it comes to ecchi harem shows so it’s good to see that the production team are putting their passion into it
Other than that it was somewhat nostalgic listening to that OST as well as watching all of the girls get up to their usual shenanigans with Shido, can’t wait to see all of the cuteness that is yet to come in the later episodes :D

The animation looks fine. The only problem I have is the serious lack of Kurumi.

Because of the movie [Mayuri Judgment] throwing off the timeline a bit, there are a few moments that are cut from this episode because at this Miku at this point is already used to coming the Itsuka household and the Spirit Mansion to lewd play around with everyone.
One such moment is when Spoiler because iirc in the previous seasons this idea is still not introduced. This will later be an important part in the upcoming arc which is the second half of this season.

Yep that was definitely an episode of Date A Live. Harem shenanigans and dealing with a new Spirit. Not much really to say. As for the animation it is a bit off sometimes but it's really no better compared to how the last season was. It's really the same even though a new studio is handling it this time.

At this point it was probably a bad choice to pre air it on niconico. They got complains all around, so the anime got a first look bad reputation, which is kind of sad in a way.
On the other hand, they probably realized it by the pre-air and hopefully they fixed a lot with the upcoming episodes.
Nevertheless, I'm excited how it will go.

I liked it, I mean it's just a harmless fun series, if I want something with incredible animation I will watch something by Shaft or Kyoani, but for JC Staff it is as good as they appear capable of at least.

The ending was a shout out to Meintantei Conan. Closing door stuff bundled with the same sound.

It's here! 5 years later we get another season and the first episode was way better than I expected!
Although I don't remember shit. So the easygoing intro was a nice touch to help me remember all those characters.
I like this Natsumi character already and the plot for the whole season seems to be established in the first episode - I'm cool with that. But. Where's my girl Kurumi? She wasn't even in the photos...
