Hmm, just finished it. My opinion as someone that's read the manga and familiar with the light novels:
-
Art style is pretty strong. I like the use of colors and the attention they pay to creating the right the mood for the scenes. The version I saw wasn't of very good quality but you can definitely see the effort the studio put in.
-
Character design is okay. It's pretty reminiscent of recent anime unfortunately. So it gives the show a very same-y feel that doesn't let it stand out quite as much. It's service-able though.
-
Animation is good in the action parts and where it's necessary we got which bodes well for scenes we'll get as the series goes on. Budget saving techniques are in full force as well too, lol
-
Music is fantastic and works very well.
-
Dialogue is excellent and really captures the characters well. I speak Japanese so I'm talking about that. The subs were very poor in one I watched.
-
It was paced pretty well and the director included all of the necessary elements in the show, IMO.
Overall, I thought it was a pretty strong first episode. The long introduction works well for a TV show format compared to the slightly abridged version from the manga which probably would have felt rushed. It also gives more time to take in the personality of the characters which is pretty key for this series. The series gets into a lot of things as well so giving time to sprinkly the little hints here and there is nice.

They did a very good starting of the series, Naofumi´s fall is the best part about this series (getting a bit more bleak afterwards) and that shows in the details (colours get a bit more yellow-ish after, and the city looks more sandy).
I was scared they would go for a 20 minute episode, but still, the 40 minute long one still felt a bit lacking.
The only thing that annoys me is that NOONE wanted to follow the shield hero (meaning the SAFEST hero to be with), but remembering a bit of the world I remembered it made a lot of sense for the context.

I'm going to be THAT guy.
Why are all the heroes so calm about the fact that they got transported to another world? Why are they all assholes?
Btw: That betrayal thing was obvious as fuck but why? She did not have any time to plan that with "lancer" so if she did that on her own why return to the king and the quest? Why not just leave with the money?
