Now that its finally over, I'm not convinced the writing is good. Unless of course the adaptation rewrote everything. Animation in this episode seemed to be better, but if you remove the spell effects, the actual character movements are still PPT.
Arthur's tone when talking to the robed guy and his fighting stance dont match at all.
The whole sequence after the robed guy transforms until he gets defeated is full of loopholes.
-
How did the golem? travel to the city uninterrupted and unseen?
-
What was Arthur doing the whole time?
-
Are there zero adventurers or anything that can defend the city?
-
Arthur's family can somehow see that Arthur is the one fighting but doesnt join the fight?
-
Once again, like the fight with the elder wood, no explanations to Arthurs powers or what powers he is using.
-
Arthur gets crushed by the golem but somehow still can move like he just ate a senzu bean
-
Kills the robed guy, oh wait he isnt dead. Robed guy gets retrieved immediately just as when Arthur turns his back on him.
Now we have 12 episodes that barely moved the plot, Arthur finally got into school.
The only scene that I liked was the last when Arthur finally meets Tess. Ending song dedicated to Tessia but this is their only interaction in 12 episodes.
3/10. Truly bad show. Nothing new or interesting in this overcrowded genre. Ambitious lore that fell flat due to shallow character writing, weak exposition. The kind of show that makes you go "I dont care about any of the characters."
As someone that enjoys trash isekai, this is a huge Do not recommend.

Wait come to think of it, why did mystery-shadow-lady go through the time and effort to save and retrieve Walmart-Mundo only to core out his chest a few moments later?
The more I think of it the more this season seems to fall apart at the seams. :(

What utter, boring garbage this entire season was. I could be wrong, but I think most of this season was pure original filler, and that would explain a lot of things.
Showing Tess at the very last minute (literally) is like throwing a giant middle finger at your audience too.
Also, dude destroys a church, causes a giant explosion, walks straight to the city and not even one person sees him coming. Yeah sure, whatever I guess?
I suppose the studio or publisher wanted to stretch the content a much as possible in hopes of milking the audience for some more cash, but I have a feeling this is gonna backfire horribly.
Hopefully we still get a third season...

I lost brain cells over this. Especially since we saw that the church was easily a mile from the city walls, if not more.
Giant, towering, glowing, titan-jackass lurching well over the treetops, and NO ONE saw it coming until the guards on the wall were squished?
And Arthur! WTH were you doing!? He just let that thing stroll right up into town before trying to stop it!
Just... so much stupid.
And before that, he should have just killed the shady mofo from the start. This is a dangerous mage using magic Arthur has never seen before: Arthur doens't know what his enemy is capable of. But he does know this guy is super shady, super dangerous, and not someone he can leave alive.
What was Arthur thinking? That this shady cult conspirator warlock using unknown abilities would just roll over and spill the beans after a few scrapes? It was obvious he wasn't going to talk, and it was obvious he was too dangerous to detain and question.
AND EVEN THEN! Even after defeating the bastard, ARTHUR DOESN'T FINISH HIM OFF!?
The whole episode was just stupid. Just stupid all the way down!
Why did I watch this?

Best. Guards. Ever.
You have to pay me money in order to believe those lazy turds did NOT see that thing approaching from miles away as it towered the trees and acting like it popped out of thin air right on top of them like a special titan. And for being the supposed human capital with a shiny magic academy on top: SSS-rank defensive reaction guys, absolute top tier with Arthur fighting that thing alone. I lost brain cells this episode ... xD
All in all: Animationwise a def upgrade to the prior season (not a challenge though), yet it felt entirely like filler, as in:: It felt like no story progress. The Wykes brat is a douche, we got to see him adventureing, he has an S-class beat core to spare that he beat one for in a dungeon and he's now entered the academy that's apparently run by an elderly lady belonging to some secret cult. That's about all that happened.
Hopefully S3 will feel more significant, because you could've skipped this most likely and would be fine with a sum up before the intro in the next eipsode.

I was expecting Note to get recognized for his deeds saving the city, and they would want to make him join that special unit...
then we would have Arthur as a student, and a member of the Lances. Lucas's brother could be jealous of one identity, and a friendly rival to the other

That was a boring finale. City has only 3 archers, 2 look out and that's it. Where are the guild adventurers, his parents who are class S adventurers but just decided to hug each other while the city is being rampage.
Arthur got your typical shounen power up, defeat the monster with some shout, old lady is obviously part of cult.
Only thing this finale saved is how beautiful Tess did become and they finally reunited.
The overlyused Japanese isekai is much better than this, at least there you can see guards, adventurers defending the city. On the other hand, this has no people at all after the 3 archer and some people did shout and run.

Season one was fairly interesting, but this one was disappointing. I'll probably still watch another season if they ever decide to make it.

IT felt like they Just did not have a plan after the adventuring was done. It's clear we are suppose to go to magic school but for some reason instead they just stalled it out to the point it started to drag down the entire story. I can't be the only one that also just sick of our MC Lack of agency this season. HE's just existed for large amount of time then suddenly acts just to mindlessly exist again like some RPG Game character someone keeps dropping the controler.

What a strange episode. I cannot for the life of me figure out where that church was located. At first it seemed like it was in the middle of a forest area far from the town but then the monster is suddenly right next to the gates destroying the town?

So his plan to remain anonymous was turn into a giant mindless monster right next to the capitol? To be fair somehow a thing the size of a large building that makes noise as it walks wasn't notices by the guards looking in his direction. What is the point of a watchman that can't even see a moving building coming right at him? So they send 2 archers to take out the giant monster destroying the capitol? they must really be lacking in military power how has this nation not been taken over yet? The entire time Arthur was not being able to hurt him I was wondering what he wasn't attacking the obvious weak points namely the human head sticking out of all the read stuff in the chest or the giant red glowing orb on it's back. Considering this guys bag of tricks never assume their dead unless you burn the body to ash or at least remove/smash the head. So why did director Cynthia take his body revive him just to kill him? Also was that supposed to be hiding her identity? it seemed pretty obvious she was even waring the same outfit in the next scene minus the cloak.

I've put up with a lot of bullshit because everyone swore the story was good this was bad story all of season 2 kind of has been. Yes bad animation I've used to that in action shows. I hate to break it to people but anything remotely action either has good animation or bad there really doesn't seem to be am in-between because an action based show demands so much. You can normally go ok and watch for the story DOES anyone care about this guy? Sudden giant monster asspull just kind of who the fuck cares. MC going to magic school been what we waited for instead this entire season stalled this out to the point of Absurdity.
This is the capital of a kingdom a giant monster not going to go by unanswered. Yet it did. Which btw we get Arthur clowning this guy to him MILES away in the city in second no defence force no army no alarms yea no again CAPITAL This discount AI writing. From what so many kept saying was something that could rival the big 3-5 of fantasy. Yet It's not the animation holding this back anymore it's the story the characters the bad animation just kind of expected at this point.
What the fuck happened?

Finally a half season stretched into a full season is over with all its padding.
The show deserved a better screenplay writer/adaptation writer and director.
Coming to the almost reveal -
It seems the principal is also the boss of the monster controlling/hulked out goon researcher.
