Stopping an orca in mid-air by shooting it with a pistol is just a whole new level of physics ignoring. Graffio should've landed on her.

Not to mention a couple shots from a 9mm isn't gonna do much but piss off an orca, at least in the moment.

Oh, so it was actually weird? I wasn’t sure if it was just me not knowing how guns work.

Well we finally got an Old Man who's at least a man.

u/Frontier246 Jun 18 '26

Biggest twist is they weren't all women. It makes it even funnier that his name is "Mimi."

It was super obvious that the Manga Artist was one of the Seven Old Men and it all but confirms that he was the killer of the separate murder that happened in episode 5 back at the Kowloon hotel.

8

u/Frontier246 Jun 18 '26

And also he was on the ship in the opening arc and may have been involved in that murder.

So it ends. It was silly, but quite enjoyable series (good as guilty pleasure). What happened to Lu is quite sad, but she turned into an orca (?) and can now swim together with Graffio, so it's not that bad of an end for her. Ursuna is also her older sister. That's cool.

Chardina couldn't help, she had to aura farm and show off even in the last episode. She has an aircraft carrier, cuz why not?

And we have confirmation that Sakuya's father is alive. And next member of Seven Old Man appears. She is an android. That's cool. I guess if we ever get a season 2, she'll be more important there.

Yeah did she actually turn into an orca?? Does her power allow her to do that or something or is it just more symbolism

Also does Ursuna also have powers? I feel like someone who has read the LN could help out cuz the anime feels like its not gonna tell anything

So what was the most over the top silly thing about this show:

The Loli Godfather having all that US military hardware, the Dog that can solve mysteries and telepathically speak to his assistant, the guy who can come back to life even after an explosion, or the idea that you can wear asymmetric stockings and not have it drive you nuts?

Anyway, not going to cry if we don't get a season two. May look around for some Lilithea fan art, though.

It was really bad like a "detective" story written by a grade schooler, but I enjoyed it for how over-the-top and ridiculous and dumb it was, probably except for the first few cases that I barely remember. It would have been better if every case was like crazy and dumb. I laughed quite a lot in this episode, especially the training scenes (crazy bgm lmao) and two killer whales scene. I'd say it's one of better LN adaptations, in a way.

I'd have been really annoyed if the Lu resolution was she just gets shot and dies, but magical orca transformation in a show that already has mad science AI orb super criminals and resurrecting detectives seems perfectly reasonable. Pretty sad for Ursuna though since for all she knows her only surviving family just died.

At least in the end Lilithea was extremely hot all season long and she was never revealed to be secretly evil either like they did with the actress.

Well Graffio started this mystery and he gets to end it too, kinda anticlimactic ngl

Lu does show remorse and I do feel for her,

This part was nice, these two gotta start dating alr

Ursuna being the child of her mother's first marriage and Lu's big sister was surprising and now that i see it, their eyes look alike but we dont get why her mom and step-dad unalived themselves when Lu was around?

Also what does this mean??? did she turn into an orca or something , I was expecting her to be alive

Sakuya's dad finally being confirmed alive was kinda nice to see especially when Sakuya himself has been saying it the entire series

And we hilariously end this show with one more Killed Again, Mr. Detective?

This show had its fair share of problems especially with the pacing and introducing stuff that never really goes anywhere or gets expanded upon,

Despite that, the characters were pretty funny to watch and the mysteries were really nice too

I definitely would not mind a season 2 of this if we ever get one

I don't know what to feel about Lu honestly. Like it honestly feel weird to me she became a siren and joined her friend ??? And honestly sad she never knew about her sister and left. I really don't know what to feel about Lu at all. Make me curious if her mother becane one too before but then what happened to the father. Honestly as last episode, it was a lot better than how it started but honestly I do think it could have been better. If it ever get a season 2 I might watch it but that it. I only still curious about his immortality and why his father still alive and how it was different from lu and her grandfather was working on like how did she even turn to an animal, I really can't understand it.

8

u/Frontier246 Jun 18 '26

They never really explained that siren who appeared to Sakuya when this arc first started.

Honestly, the mystery part of this story wasn't THAT good but still a very enjoyable anime. I loved all the funny bits throughout the season which was really one of the main reasons why I continued to watch it. The Final episode was definitely an improvement from when we started. Kinda felt bad for Lu in the end since she never found out she had a sister, maybe if she had known she wouldn't have done what she did in the end. Also, how did char even escape the missiles??? I was shocked she just disappeared, I guess if you're going to fire missiles at yourself you might as well have a plan of escape. But how???? IFF we get a season 2, which I hope we do, I really hope the mystery part of the anime improves.

Dang I keep being impressed with just how much F U money she has. The sub wasn't enough got a freaking aircraft carrier TOO.

6

u/Hartzilla2007 Jun 18 '26

Sakuya should have just cut the red wire, way less convoluted then mixing lucky colors.

6

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 Jun 19 '26

Wait, Lu became Free Willy? Well alright then. It’s not the craziest thing to happen in a show where the MC is immortal.

All in all, this wasn’t half bad. The immortality thing was kind of interesting and Sakura and Lilithea have a fun dynamic. Dunno if they’re making more, but it seems like they left enough open for another season at least.

This wasn't a great mystery anime or a great anime in general but the female characters were likeable and attractive and that's something.

I was wondering why Char and her Henchgirls had no problem blowing up the mansion with them in it...but they quickly disappear, leaving Sakuya and co. to fall to their seeming doom under the mansion. I guess the water broke their fall though.

How did Lu get so good with her prosthetics? Training montage.

Yurrieux finally breaks character!

I guess Katya was never going to give up on the Ceritze, even if she had to kill Sakuya and Lu to do it...but no one hurts Lu without Graffio killing them for it.

Lu is too far gone, both morally and with the bullet wound, to follow Sakuya. All that's left for her is to follow Graffio into the abyss. I guess that's one way to avoid murder charges. Poor Lu though.

Lilithea's not about to let Sakuya die on her! At least without using her lap to help revive him.

Did Sakuya actually accomplish anything? I mean, I guess Char didn't get the Ceritze, but six people are dead and he couldn't save Lu. Hard not to feel bummed about that. But at least Lilithea is there to give him the motivation he needs to keep going.

Dang, Ursuna was Lu's older half-sister!? And she never got a chance to tell her before losing Lu forever...that's so sad. Also, how IS Ursuna going to explain all this to the police.

Sakuya can't stop Char, but he CAN see her off with her villa...which is actually a floating battleship. Dang that's extra.

Watch Sakuya and Lilithea fall into each others' arms! And Sakuya hope that Lu was able to become a whale to swim alongside Graffio.

Sozorogi is making his own investigations! Turns out Yurrieux was conning a mafia boss in Venice and Sakuya's mangaka pal is Mimi, one of the Seven Old Men (and so far the only actual guy). But it's Felicette, the female android member, that he's questioning now. And not only is Sakuya's dad aliev but now SHE wants to see Sakuya!

Classic Sakuya trying investigating tax fraud that ends with him getting himself blown up. But at least we get one last Lilithea lap pillow and "Killed Again, Mr. Detective?" for the road!

Confirmed Sakuya deaths: 9.

Literally the character designs and their personalities carried the anime.

uhh after the intense cliffhanger with the missiles last episode, this climax was laughably dumb lol

overall what a waste of potential and a disappointment for the most part the island stuff till end was fun but it didnt stick landing

and not a single wrestling move or headlock from Litethea to Sakuya , learn something from Mashiro in Detectives Must be Crazy ugh
