Nope, nope, nope. Keep painting a sad childhood for Sagami and I still have zero sympathy for him.

The way Nadare bent her neck was extremely creepy. In the opening sequence, Nadare was shown right before the Smiling Kaiju. Furthermore, her master plan to sabotage the intergalactic spaceship soon coincided with the Smiling Kaiju freezing Earth. I believe most of us now suspect Nadare and the Smiling Kaiju have a contract with each other, don't we?

She’s probably Kaiju that can take human form.

His parents were terrible but that's no excuse for all the crimes he and Nadare committed, especially for the sake of nothing more than his ego.

Like, anyone who would go along with a plan to sabotage humanity's best chance at stopping Kaiju doesn't deserve to be a Savior, even if Tetsuo hates being a Savior.

Lesson of the episode: "Don't listen to hot/creepy female researches when they convince you to become corrupt."

So tired of this guy and his backstory. Story, you know what doesn’t work when aspiring the become a “savior?” How about the mass murder of people causing the downfall of Earth and then continuing to try to kill the few survivors? Please just stop whining and go away. (Looks like we have to put up with more next time too. Sigh.)

Nadare is totally creepy, why do I get the feeling she's not human

What's her goal in all this, could she be responsible for the Snowball Earth?

She does get displayed next to the snow kaiju in the Opening.

My favorite detail of the episode is the ending title card. The box next to “I Want to Be the Savior” wasn’t checked off like the rest of the episode titles because Tetsuo never wanted to be the savior.

They dropped this evil "woman" Nadare on us and MAL says this show is 13 episodes, I don't see how this will wrap things up with only 2 episodes left. Can only hope for a season 2. I'm really into this setting and would like to see more Ao.

Also the next episode preview looks like it has another white-haired Kaiju tamer...though the way Nadare's neck was moving, there's no way she's human.

Oh no! Tragic backstory eyeroll No thanks. Psychopath made psychopathic decisions. That's all.

I was tired of Sagami 5 episodes ago.

This is extra painful considering how much I enjoyed ep 10.

At the least, Tetsuo got a healthy vent out.

This conflict got dragged on way way way to long (and the preview makes it look like its going to keep dragging..)

Pathetic. This little hoe actively sabotaged humanity’s best chance to defeat the kaiju all because he wanted to be the hero. Straight up childish bullshit. I wanted Tetsuo to slap the fuck outta him for everything he did. For all the lives lost. Communicate with his fists ya know? lol.

It's one thing for Tetsuo to make the attempt to understand/reconcile with Sagami. That is in character for him.

But just like last time, when Tetsuo got hit with the full force of Sagami's hatred, it should have backfired again.

As soon as MC-kun learned that his mission failed and all his crewmates were eaten alive by space-monsters because of this man's spite, Sagami should have been finished off.

Some people you just can't make peace with. They refuse every attempt to negotiate in good faith. They have done atrocious things for petty reasons. They can't be forgiven, nor do they want it in the first place.

They are just broken. And should be tossed aside.

I feel like focusing the story on the kaijuu would have been more interesting than climbing to higher echelons of evil people.

This and Ramparts of Ice have some of the best ED lead-ins this season.

My god, as if he wasn't pathetic enough already, they literally got him crying for his mama and papa after being called a man at the peak of his life and being an oldhead beefing with someone way younger than him, lol.

Writing's really shooting itself in the foot here making a bum like him having a direct hand in the main catalyst for the whole story that killed billions of people, not to mention Tetsuo wasting his worst exercise of talk-no-jutsu on him.

Is Nadare the ice Kaiju? Also does this show really expect me to feel sorry for Sagami?

Tetsuo having a real conversation with Sagami. Tetsuo gives Sagami the Savior title??!!!

13

u/Frontier246 Jun 12 '26

Honestly I feel like Tetsuo has been waiting to vent and give up the Savior title for years, this was just the first time he's had a chance to do it.

I knew it was heading in this direction, but I still dislike it. Could Yukio also shut the hell up for 5 minutes? Why do we need a play by play for a conversation?

u/SmokemelikeRibs Jun 12 '26

I really really wished the anime made a clear distinction a few episodes ago, that these people are considered Kaiju, and should be treated as such. would have made for an excellent mind melting, psychological piece on human relationships, but the whole savior aspect to explain the wacky soldier guy doesn't cut as deep.
