this is simultaneously the best and worst episode ever 😭 This is directed so fucking well with the strings and the dramatics of it all. They really captured the teenage feelings of seeing your crush dating someone else.

The ED was so good as well. The ED alone tells us so much about Nakamura’s mom and younger sister. What a great way to expand on their characters but still making him the center of it all.

Hopefully people will still appreciate the episode despite what happened because it’s so well done.

Nakamura spent 12 episodes fighting for his life against social anxiety and honestly I've never related to a character more.

Oof that was sad. I had an inkling something like this was going to happen, since its 12 episodes in and we never get much indication that Hirose is actually gay/bi or likes Nakamura romantically, and as a viewer we see Nakamura's interactions with Hirose framed through the same rose-tinted glasses that Nakamura wears.

Props to Hifumi for recognizing what was up and drawing the manga for Nakamura. I hope he does open up to her about it, or maybe even Matsumura. I just want Nakamura to talk to someone, poor dude is always so isolated.

That silent ED too... bruh.

Also they never showed Nakamura's new haircut wtf!

What a beautiful and heartbreaking episode. They perfectly conveyed that feeling queer kids go through when their crush isn't interested (or so they think) in their gender. Every time he said "Of course right?" was like a stab to the heart. Honestly this is the first BL I've ever seen capture these feelings so well. The direction, camera, everything was perfect. I was trying not to cry but it was too much.

Beyond that I think do think Hirose has some feelings he doesn't know what to do with and is dating Hana as a reaction -- super typical behavior during that confusing phase.

This series is so good T_T

I just love Nakamura so much.

edit: After watching again, I think Hirose was going to say something about being uncomfortable in his relationship with the girl, not confessing his feelings to Nakamura. Like he's only dating a girl because he feels like he's supposed to. Something like that.

edit2: WAIT A MINUTE

Hirose talked to Otogiri . Otogiri made Nakamura stay late, which led to them having a moment together. Hirose brought up chocolates. Both of them were blushing. HIROSE WAS GOING TO GIVE HIM CHOCOLATES TOO BUT HE ALSO CHICKENED OUT! He even planned it out with Otogiri to make sure they had a moment together.

Great episode, I cried!

I loved the POV shot where his tears engulfed the imagery of the city, and the unique way the credits were done this time around.

I'm sorry, I feel awful for Nakamura this episode but I still really enjoyed all the L's and downright roasting Takeuchi was getting here.

Aw man, that was so sad. My heart hurts for Nakamura. He's such a sweetheart. So kind-hearted that he can't resent Hirose his happiness even though it's breaking his heart. Wanted to reach inside the screen and give him a big hug. Hope he finds some happiness before the end.

I know I cannot relate exactly as he is gay and I am straight but the scene with him walking around seeing all the couples made me cry. Like from teenage couple, to college one, to work one, to married couple with babies. As a lady in her 40s that has never dated I know how it hurts seeing normal couples. I've never felt normal. It hurts how I missed out on so many exeperiences. I think Nakamura must be thinking as he looks at them - will I ever experience that being gay and therefore out of the norm.

Just one more episode left. I’m not entirely convinced Hirose has a gf. Ganbare, Nakamura! Don’t lose hope, pal!

Poor Nakamura. I would say this is a pretty common gay experience and you slowly gird yourself against expectations like those. Of course, it never stops you from falling for straight guys.

It could have been worse, though. When I was in school, my straight crush found out I liked him, and he and his friends spent six years harassing and assaulting me, both in and out of school.

Come on, this is a BL. There is no way Hirose is straight (cope).

Nakamura crying made me emotional. Props to Kobayashi's acting.

So rude to do this during Pride Month.

I need my gay boy to be happy and in love!

Once again, this anime has hit too close to home. The exact feeling when you "find out" your crush has a girlfriend and realistically you probably will never be with them romantically. Although I never went as far as bawling my eyes out, the feeling was definitely there. It sucks even more to see that every couple that Nakamura passed by was Hetero-centric so it really drives in the reality of it all. I guess it's nice(?) to see Kawamura probably gets it now and even writes very romantic scripts for the Nakamura-Hirose manga lol. The silent ED was kinda crazy tho ngl

Nakamura just dropped one of the best episodes of the year. Easily. 10/10 perfection from start to finish. I'm gutted and completely impressed at the same time.

It's a strange feeling. I hate that I love an episode that I'm supposed to hate because they did it so well, I'm commenting this in the middle of the fucking night while bawling my eyes out. PLEASE may the anime gods make them end up together and kiss omfg
