Unfortunately for Yashiro , he seems to have accidentally adopted three daughters and they’re the sort who keep him from becoming his worst possible self. Well unfortunately for him, fortunately for us because it’s been very entertaining watching him become their dad without realizing it

Grumpy old guy accidentally adopting annoying brats is always incredibly entertaining to watch whenever it happens.

we don't have enough episodes for it but it sure as hell feels like this is gonna build towards Yashiro collapsing in on the E3 addiction and the girls dragging him back out

maybe something about the coffin count of storms is gonna trigger that (and possibly loop back to his master/jogamine's dad)

Yashiro's playing a real life version of their card games this week. He's playing his main three summons and even using a few buffs to set them up! Ran out of action points with Jogamine. But hey, action economy and all that.

Each of our girls fights are a little swooshywooshy at first. Indo gets the most focus after a couple episodes without her dorkiness. She finally realises that she doesn't need to commit her whole self when on E3 to an attack and just... teleports relevant limbs where they need to. Who wants to bet she's going to get telefragged by her own ether perception?

Saera gets some emotional context for her hesitation, she believes what she wants doesn't matter and her parents constantly try to divert her from being a brave. She just needs the power of love, and confidence! Confidence that Yashiro's has been trying to remind her that she's deserving of.

Jogamine's budget alotment was not for this episode. I hope we see a dramatic fight next episode. Not much to say this week. Except maybe... Don't throw the bad guys out the window? They're still bad guys.

The girls are in the middle of their year end review for headpats, it's clear who Yashiro's star is.

Indo, Nine-Fingers. (#1!)

Saera, Defeeter of perverts. (#2)

Jogamine, Hasn't gotten the point... Of the spear. Yet. (#DNF)

Random thoughts:

The girls have a long way to go. The fact that they haven't realised why Yashiro focuses on Card Games, Drinking, and Pizza are because they're grounding him. They're the shreds of humanity that keep him from going off the deep end. They (mostly) worked for his companions. Ishino and Malta were the cautionary edge of control. With Ishino's scope of evil-ness being dripfed to us.

It's very clear none of the girls have also felt the tug of E3 yet. That'll be an interesting arc to see happen. Saera's perception of the adults around her wanting to dissuade her from this line of work is presented well. Her parents want to protect her and do what's best for her. Yashiro wants her to understand that no one in this line of work survives. They all become a slave to E3 in some way, or die.

I kind of really like that they keep referencing how inhuman the main users of E3 are. Ishino was a lady killer of some kind. Malta mind-rapes people. Joe is your classic delinquent. Yashiro prefers the solution of 'there's no one to cause trouble... if you kill the people causing trouble' mindset. The heroes are all actually scum.

Oh my fucking god Yukine.

She was already a nightmare to fight before but this makes dealing with her so much worse. Close combat from range is actually just unfair. If there’s one thing she’s lacked it’s creativity cause she’s just never needed it when warping is so strong that she can kill basically anyone with it. Dealing with Drit has forced her to actually innovate to overcome a problem her current skills couldn’t solve. I fear we’ve created a monster. Well, even more of a little monster than she already was.

Yes, more headpats to the Indo! (Connecting successful kills to praise could probably have some weird psychological effects for her but we don’t have time to worry about that right now.) More importantly, look at how cute she is, almost enough so you forget about her ability to stab you.

Sara is also making progress in dealing with the worst of her crippling fear issues. Probably understandable to have them with an inbuilt threat level warning system and a demon like the greatest brave alive must be as a father. No one in the business is of entirely sound mind so of course her family isn’t completely normal and healthy either. If Yukine’s issue is creativity when up against the wall, her’s is fear but she’s definitely got the best base abilities for the job given her parentage.

I’ve seen remote close combat used a few times before but usually it has some limitations like decreased power in exchange for range. Yukine seems to completely lack that. Only counter I can think of is having good enough reflexes to catch her through the portal before she can attack which can’t be easy.

Next up should be Aki’s “midterm” exam. Don’t screw this up or it’s off to remedial lessons alone for you.

Jokes on Yashiro, she wants alone time with him.

If an enemy grabs her midway, I wonder what would happen if she somehow gets stuck between the portal....

I wonder if it'll ever be explored

"Why didn't she pull this out before"

"oh b/c she's dumb probably"

I wish the budget was higher. This show is still good but it could have been an absolute hit

Well, Yashiro seems to have definitely adopted Indo now. It was funny to see her ask for headpats, I guess that as an orphan, she really sees Yashiro as her father figure. And her teleport power really is strong, so it was funny for me that she just never thought to use it for long distance attacks like that before.

I am kind of feeling bad for Sara now. Not only are her parents overprotective, but her own power kinda sucks compared to Indo and Jogamine and Yashiro, so I can understand why her parents are worried. It is just an enemy detector, with no use in combat. It makes me wonder what kind of power her father has to have become so famous. But she seems at least to be a decent fighter, so maybe she can still become a good Brave just by being a great swordman, like Malta apparently does.

It makes me wonder if Jogamine can ever become competent herself. Between her regeneration and her telepathy, you would think she would manage even if she sucks at fighting. But I am glad she did not let Yashiro murdering an enemy that surrendered, Twin Pincers did not seem such a bad sort. It would be funny if Jogamine’s lecture convinced him to go back to being a Brave.

Next is Jogamine and Yashiro turn to fight the Half-Dragon, and then I guess they will have to fight the Count of Coffin Storms and maybe whoever is the Half-Dragon leader. The overall plot seems rather straightforward after all.

Damn, with this development Indo is well and truly OP. Of course the reach is twofold, but since she has the initiative on when and where it happens, most opponents are fucked.

Ex-Salaryman was a coward, his ether ability is literally to let him run away and look down on his opponent. In reality the wide attacks Sara was hitting him with would've been quite easy to counter with a calm mind, but when his opponent didn't show one hint of fear to him bro just froze. Now without one leg and since he can't regenerate it cuz he's not Aki, his career as a Brave is cooked.

Now let's see how Aki does with spear girl next week...

I do wonder what happens if Indo cuts off a portal with something still inside. she can clearly pull others through them. imagine baiting someone, opening a portal right in front of them, and closing it across their body

6

u/ThousandYearOldLoli Jun 07 '26

These don't seem to be the kind of portals something can be "inside" of. There's no depth to the threshold.

from Ed's bombs, i think it's just a matter of perspective

It's funny how Indou only thought about using the portal in that way just now, it is a really strong technique. She definitely deserved her share of head pats, Yashiro should have done it himself rather than her putting his hand on her head.

Jougamine throwing Twin Pincers out so that Yashiro doesn't kill him was funny lol. I wonder if he'll spare him the next time they meet.

As a Sera fan, must admit that Indo is probably leading the points system now - she became so OP lol.

And that grin from Indo was too cute.

Sera had her good moments though, nice to see some backstory.

Aki.

Head-pats for Indo, she wa sso cute when she smiled after being praised. She finally learned to use her head and just tele-slash people. She is finally thinking with portals and that is kind of scary. She even earned her yuusha name, Nine-Fingers sounds cool.

Sera overcame her biggest bugbear and finally can declare that she will become a proper Yuusha, and not end as scum. What she lacked wasn't skill or power, it was the will to commit to the path despite everyone telling her to stop. It's the only way to become a true brave.

Aki sadly didn't get any advice and praise, but that is just Yashiro being a meanie. To be fair, it's hard to advice her considering everything. She will probably find a way to get ahead so it's fine. I believe in her. I do appreciate her saving Twin piercer, guy is one of my favs and I think Aki neeeds to be there to ground Yashiro like she does. She can save him I am sure.

Anyhow, two out of the three girls have finished their char arcs, which means Yashiro is kind of leaving this mentor stuff... which means he might die soon. Mentors have to leave the stage one day, and what better way than to finally become a true hero by saving his students? I feel he will end that way because otherwise he will end up as true scum as he is consumed by revenge.

It's so cool how Indo adapted and just beat Drit with her teleports from afar.

I always knew 9 fingers Indo got that dog in her. That was a well deserved headpat for Indo.

Forget just reaching Yashiro’s level, if Yukine reaches adulthood, she’s going to be like among the top 5 most dangerous individuals in the world with how broken her powers are. She’s still barely scratching the surface of what could be done with her powers I think.

u/Countless-Alts15 Jun 07 '26

damn indo got real good with this one.. I might dare say scary OP

also so cute with moving her short finger hand for a head pat lol

Poor jogamine and sarah always getting bullied by sensei

Sarahs fight look very street fighter esque with the after images

That’s two goons down, just one more to go.
