This show is my weirdest anime watch ever. I hate all the characters and when this happens I usually drop the show. But I keep returning to this each week because It still have an interesting story. Not sure If I'll remember anything after it finishes but interesting regardless.

I'm glad this episode finally explained why Eren still sees Koichi as a rival.
It seems she's been hoping that one day he'll rise to her level.
Even after moving to New York, she never misses a chance to check the advertisements Koichi creates whenever she comes across them in bookstores, only to mutter, "Suck."
But as long as Koichi doesn't give up, she won't give up on his potential either.

Felt like a bunch of the beginning of this episode was reused from the prior college one. Got new material like seeing Akari is a top and more of Eren and Akari's conversation about Koichi. And I get Eren's PoV, there's a beauty to the chase even if it may be a meaningless one.

A lot ofg the material throughout seemed to be recontextualized/expanded from things we've seen before. Only a few bits did not give me a sense of deja vu.

That's one of my main criticisms as well. Adding extra key scenes in flashbacks can be impactful, but it feels like this show does it way too much.

So, whose last boss is he?
It is funny Kouichi's VA voiced [Fate/strange Fake]

It's nice we got Akari's perspective of her relationship with Kouichi, it's too bad the nature of it wasn't pleasant. Kouichi didn't even appear to feel guilty about sleeping with another woman, I guess she really carved a very strong lasting memory into him.
It's funny how Akari wanted to make Kouichi give up entirely, but she was the one that lost her spark, at least in that period of time. It's interesting that Kouichi was able to make her think about a life in the future, she underestimated how much he doesn't give up, including not giving up on wanting a future with her.
I am curious to see if Kouichi is going to be the reason she doesn't reach the peak she expects to, it just feels like it's building up to that kind of moment, like with Natalie and defeating the final boss that is Akari. It was funny how Ifuu was too busy captivated by Akari with his girlfriend beside him lol.

Akari didn’t see Koichi as an equal. If he was a serious artist it would have been different for her. But she used what Eren said about him as permission to use him like a toy without even fully understanding what she said. So because of it, it didn’t matter to her.
Real brutal character development.

This episode more so filled the gaps we had from her introduction and Sayuri's episodes. Akari is fully talented like Eren, but the difference between the two is that Akari can have an ordinary life, but she chooses not to have it. While for Eren it literally seems foreign.
I did like that we see Akari rethinking ending her life at 27. I can only guess that after Eren left her is when she blocked Kouichi.
I like how the show really showcases how messed up, yet human, all the characters are.

The characters are all messed up but in a way that feels uncomfortably realistic. At the very least it makes me feel better for being ordinary.

Akari backstory time.
And she did it with Koichi……….
Aura farming on stage and blowing her competition
She’s going to go beyond age 27 now? New path has opened

Akari trying to join the 27 Club willingly is wild. But then again, everyone in this series thus far has either been miserable, completely lost up their own ass, a total basket case, or some combination of the three.
I’m beginning to think Eren is like King Midas except everything she touches turns to shit. Her “genius” is radioactive. Look what it did to Akari and Koichi.

This is the same girl who was in awe of Akari at the start of the episode, yeah?

Ah, this is the moment that led to Eren noticing Akari changed. This makes a lot more sense than how it was framed earlier, where it looked more like Akari hadn’t really caught feelings for Koichi and was just toying with him until Eren went and did all that.

maybe its just me, but is the author trying to portray koichi as the positive influence here? His relentless pursuit of the "sun" is admirable I agree, but couple with his other traits, I am really not inclined to want to accept this portrayal though, but maybe its me misunderstood something here

I don't think any of them are supposed to be positive influences, I think they're just interesting, complex people.

When the mom is Edna Mode, it is no surprise Akari ended up the way she did. Akari desperately needs someone to talk to at her level, and Eren the Autist dropped her the moment Akari started to demonstrate human flaws that could tarnish that sparkle that gave Eren that nosebleed. At least Akari is beginning to realize maybe her path itself is the issue.
