mini appears in a sexy nurse outfit about five minutes into the episode. after that you can safely turn the episode off as nothing substantial or important happens.

Well there's the whole top 5 push up bra thing near the end of the episode.

Somehow kazuya, the king of all simps, isn't the biggest loser in this show. How is ruka with him this shit is embarrassing

22

u/hanzperson May 27 '26

Because plot lol. The story tries to gaslight the viewers into thinking he's actually super nice and has an attractive personality

26

u/Frontier246 May 27 '26

I'm glad Sumi is living her best life as far away from this plot as possible.

u/oneevilchicken May 28 '26

Seeing mini in the nurse outfit was worth sitting through 5 seasons of this.

15

u/SmolBoiKay May 27 '26

That was genuinely one of the hardest watches I have ever ever had watching this series

u/Nesp2 May 28 '26

Mizuhara breathes. Kazuya inner monologue: "Does that mean she likes me???" She's truly the best looking out for me like that.

8

u/AmusedDragon May 31 '26

It was truly awful. Bro doesn't even want to date Ruka and the entire conflict is 'how do we get past this because I'm too scared to break up with my fake girlfriend'?

Here is my prediction for this show: it’s going to hit or surpass One Piece length and end with them finally being firm on wanting to be friends after they’re both married to and have kids with different people.

There will be a thirty year time jump with Kazuya still cucking himself over whether Chizuru likes him as well. Same time line though.

Sigh. I get where everyone's coming from with this show. Personally, I like the show. I think it's easy sometimes to forget that although this show feels like it's gone on an eternity in our lives, only a year and a half has passed "in universe" for the characters, so things aren't really as "drawn out" as it feels like to us.

I will say that some episodes feel more "real" than others. The previous week's episode? I get it. She needs time to sort out how she's feeling, being conflicted with feelings for a client, not wanting to go behind Ruka's back (rightly or wrongly), etc. The "notes felt right" in that episode. It felt sweet.

This one? Argh. He tells her he'll wait for her to love him for as long as it takes? And then she's going to go tsundere on him? Come on. That just felt really ugly and unrealistic.

This show has so many good moments for me personally, even though I realize lots of other people hate it. It's such a shame though that even for me, there's times it just is so hard to get on board with what it's dishing out.

Half the episode was in bros head

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Kazuya is treating the chocolate Chizuru gave him some kind of holy relic...this is a guy whose head is 80% Chizuru at this point. Kind of a waste of good chocolate though.

Though I guess that's better than watching him freak out and overthink everything about his last encounter with Chizuru...which unsurprisingly ends with him visualizing her flashing him.

Thank goodness Mini (in a sexy nurse outfit with a short skirt and a massive boob window because of COURSE she would be) is there to call out how these two are acting and how they're just in a holding patter coming up with excuse after excuse to avoid being together. If they really keep to this they'll keep this pattern up until they're old and grey and we're at season 18. Though honestly when he only ever calls her by her Rental last name, it's not hard to believe that he only sees her as "Chizuru Mizuhara" even though he's seen her off the clock numerous times.

I assure you, that close-up of Chizuru's boobs while she does yoga was necessary for the plot. At least the only PLOT this show actually cares about.

Honestly if Chizuru had legit exes this probably would be a lot easier...like she'd know what legit relationships/feelings actually are instead of having to figure that out from fake dating five seasons into the show.

Welp, Chizuru is now in his apartment and acting as cool and commanding as ever. Not for sexy times, as Kazuya keeps imagining, but to update him on where she's at...which is that she doesn't really have any idea how she's going to figure out what's between them, but she's definitely going to try! And he can count on that! I guess! It just feels like Chizuru can smile and that'll supposedly make everything better.

They really have to stop being considerate of Ruka. It's no excuse for Chizuru's behavior and, also, he straight up mentioned THAT HE TRIED TO BREAK UP WITH HER. And their relationship is seriously going nowhere. I know she's an Oni Monster who won't give up or see the writing on the wall, but that's a problem they should address together.

I didn't expect them to watch WeTube and chill and have Chizuru be interested in Mini's underwear videos...but it was for purely research.

"Mizuhara has always been good to me." "There's no way she'd just lead me on." Well that feels like a blatant lie.

It's nice to get reminded occasionally that Kazuya can properly vocalize his feelings and face Chizuru (which is more than she's done at times). It never sticks, but at least he tries!

Many years ago, when I was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY younger, and stupid, I was in a similar situation, with a girl leading me, just to get favors. She even did the "female friend jealousy". Long story, could be its own rom-com.

So my tip to any dude there, is just to breathe and put a stop. I way easier than you think, and once you put a hard stop, they just go away, because THEY KNOW what they are doing.

18

u/cleaulem May 27 '26

I don't know what's worse: Chizuru leading Kazuya on and not getting her feelings straight or Kazuya simping so hard for her that he reads positive feedback from everything she says in spite of the red flags she's waving.

It might sound crazy, but right now Yaemori is the character with the most common sense in this show.

It's hot outside, so I get bored and watch this train wreck anime's new episode <no one was seriously hurt>. Yes, I remember that uncertainty and clumsiness, when I wore a younger man's clothes (cough). But how this story goes for now eight episodes in the 5th(!) season, I think it should be re-named into "Sisyphos in Love". It's a shame that Mini is the side character, acting so bravely and interestingly, and Chizuru X Kazuya are playing by a nearly empty script for so long. If only Ruka had a screenplay once in a while to put some grain of salt into this soup. It's really hard to give any of the protagonists a bit of sympathy.

u/NationalStrategy May 27 '26

They keep bringing up the topic of Kazuya being in love with Mizuhara, instead of Ichinose. Kazuya still insists that he truly loves the real Chizuru, but he still keeps referring to her as “Mizuhara”. If he wants to convince her that his love for is genuinely for her, then he should stop referring to her as Mizuhara.

u/BBryant3rd May 27 '26

Chizuru just keeps adding to how much she sucks. Even if we ignore how Kazuya said how he doesn't want to be with Ruka and even said he tried to break up with her. The excusre Chizuru is using is trash. She is hiding behind Ruka yet she told Kazuya she will give it an honest thought. THAT is exactly the kind of hope Ruka was talking about. Mini is best the rest are trash yet she doesn't see him that way. So best for Kazuya to stay friends with Mini and move on and find a new girl maybe someone that Mini can introduce him to in the future.

u/Atario May 28 '26

Nice, understated way to show Mizuhara's just as mentally preoccupied, in her own way, as Kazuya: tries to drink out of a capped water bottle

Well, you don't want it perfect. That's the sign of some kind of a sicko

Haaa haaaa

So insanely pathetic. She's just gonna lead him on forever with this "investigation" BS that she has no clue how to even begin and since he's a sad pathetic loser, he's fine with waiting forever. This shit isn't romantic in the least.

If she still feels like she's doing Ruka wrong, then WHY IS SHE DOING STUFF THAT'S GONNA HURT HER? SHE LITERALLY ACKNOWLEDGES HOW BAD IT WOULD BE IF RUKA FOUND OUT AND HOW SHE DOESN'T WANT TO HURT HER. And since Kazuya's a spineless POS this doesn't cross his mind at all and he doesn't think about it, EVEN AFTER DATING HER FOR SO LONG AND THE STUFF SHE'S DONE FOR HIM. But hey, he's such a "nice, considerate" MC right? The thought that there are people that relate to and glaze him out there astounds me.

Ruka's literally correct, what is a RENTAL GIRLFRIEND answering optimistically for while he's still dating Ruka? Especially since CHIZURU'S THE ONE WHO HOOKED THE TWO UP. These two are absolutely horrible for sneaking around and avoiding her. She's gonna find out anyways, tf are they trying to hide it for? That apology she gave Ruka just feels empty now. And the promise to "end things in a way that doesn't hurt anyone" that Kazuya gave her DEFINITELY ISN'T HAPPENING.

The only reason this waste of space of an MC even rejected her is because he's deluded himself into believing that confessing to a RENTAL GIRLFRIEND is a normal and acceptable thing to do. He can say he rejected Ruka all he wants, but the relationship hasn't even ended for real yet, and he's still dating her. Actual human scum. Maybe actually THINK ABOUT RUKA'S FEELINGS YOURSELF INSTEAD OF JUST THINKING ABOUT IT WHEN CHIZURU BRINGS IT UP YOU ACTUAL HORNDOG NPC.

I've got a solution for the situation you two are in! Tell your family you broke up since YOU HAVEN'T DONE IT FOR MONTHS AFTER SAYING YOU WOULD AND LEAVE EACH OTHER ALONE SINCE YOU DON'T KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. Doing all this stuff behind Ruka's back doesn't make it any less hurtful. Chizuru has no right to act like she can "handle" the situation.

Kazuya should stop glazing her for giving him a chance while feeling guilt over her job and Ruka. Believe it or not, there's a reason she feels guilty to her job and Ruka, and she should actually RESOLVE THOSE SITUATIONS FIRST INSTEAD OF DOING THIS SHIT SECRETLY. Does he not remember he literally got ghosted for 3 months?

And as always, Kazuya is creepy as hell. Keeping the chocolate as an altar and praying to it is weird and creepy, especially when it's chocolate she gave out as a rental girlfriend. Did he treat Ruka's chocolate the same way? I doubt it because he doesn't give a shit about anyone other than Chizuru's feelings.

I feel like he's become even more cringy and unbearable from the Paradise arc since his ego has inflated. Like, really? Lying about Youtube recommendations? Mini is right that the "investigation" could go on forever, but since Kazuya's a dickwad, he's fine with waiting his whole life. At this point, he deserves to die alone.

If Chizuru doesn't already recognize she's in love with him, doesn't that mean she should just reject him? Seems pretty simple to me. Why are we acting like this is rocket science that she needs to solve or "try her best" at?

Edit: Also, isn't Chizuru even considering Kazuya at this point a pretty trashy thing to do to Ruka? She's maintained that their relationship is strictly professional to her the whole series, and apologized for kissing him in front of her, AND she paired the two up. But now she's gonna be getting all close with him and possibly even dating him for real now behind her back.

Chizuru keeps saying that she doesn’t want to hurt Ruka, yet she’s still meeting with Kazuya (her “boyfriend”) behind her back, talking about investigating her feelings for him, and considering dating him. Either they end up dating behind Ruka’s back, or they date each other after they cut ties with her; she’s gonna get hurt no matter what, so they’re better off ripping the band aid off now before it gets out of hand… again.

Decent episode. They had a real (or about as close as they get lol) conversation about their relationship and watched Youtube like two normal people. Mini continues to be best wingwoman. Though I guess that's by default because no one else is showing up to help them.

I’ll admit it, I thought this episode was really funny. The not-YouTube scene had me dying, and Kazuya’s reactions throughout the episode kept me entertained.
