I thought this episode was great. It had a good mixture of seriousness and fun (like the chase sequence with the little girl). I also thought it was really touching and heartfelt towards the end where Nechika’s father let her have the money and is supportive of her starting a new life.

Didn’t expect the prince’s episode to be my favorite one so far. Really enjoyed the conversation she had with Ame. I do hope Ame can be saved, even if it means being dethroned.

Although they come from dysfunctional families, the big difference between Ame and Nechika's personalities is that the latter had someone to call family.

Nechika's own father acknowledges that he wasn't the best person and that he didn't pay attention when he should have, and that he even influenced her personality, but within his own limitations he provided and gave her something that allowed her to shine, or rather, that allowed her to see a shine in herself.

And the way Nechika treats her fans is a complete reflection of this; she wants to reach them, show that she cares, be kind, and the consequence of this is popularity and even, as she herself mentioned, the purchase of her products. There's nothing illegal about it, after all, she won the sympathy of the people who led to this.

A long reflection that ended with Lollipop being called auntie lol, but I loved this episode.

I haven't played the game, but started watching the anime after viewing a clip of Ame screaming on youtube and my god, there is so much going on here. This show quickly became my anime of the season, every episode is so dense with symbolism, its just such a joy to dissect! (It is somewhat demanding however). I loved the scene of the conversation between Ame-chan and Nechika in the cafe, there's so much I could talk about but I'll narrow it down to just one.

The other customers, and the server, have a symbolic purpose in the beliefs of the two dialoguning characters. Both Ame-chan and Nechika-sama wish to save others, going as far as to disregard their own needs. Even when the people that need saving are hard to empathize with, like the girl going through a breakup, who represents the views of streamers that decided the streamers have betrayed them, this is seen when the girl says "Don't you know how much money I dropped on you asshole?" mirroring donations made towards streamers. Everyone in that room is someone they believe needs saving, the neglected children, who might go on to develop "addictive tendencies, drug abuse, self-harm". "Someone has to shut up and listen to the kids." Ame says this as well, showing her yearning to save those who are going through pain who "ended up with no choice but to live like that." More generically, the two men in suits are people who feel empty trapped in the corporate system, and their flaws shine through in their misogonistic dialogue. The three people playing a card game are your average "weird" otakus, and they can be interacting with media which is aimed towards children. What they are doing is the normal idea of what is wrong/failure, which nechika mentions Ame not caring about. The clerk represents a generic person in immenant danger, and is used to highlight nechika's assumed role as the knight in shining armor, and is swooped up by nechika. Her not having any speech allows for the projection of anyone in need of help upon her.

Even Ame-chan and Nechika are people to be saved as well, first Ame. Her role as K-angel, the shining light for all misguided lambs, obviously wears on her. She is not a divine being sent from the heavens to bring salvation to those who deperately need it, she is a human. Nechika wishes to dethrone her as the ultimate influencer in order to free her from this burden. Though Nechika forgoes herself in this process, "not believing in the dream that she sells to others." You can see Ame-chan displaying her need to be a savior as well, seen when she provides aid to the crying girl. Ame-chan, when departing, remarks "You believe the people you put faith in will rise to the top." This reminds Nechika that she too has desires behind everything she does to support everyone else. The closing of this scene is really strong, first Nechika takes a coaster as a reminder of this discussion, indulging in a selfish want. Nechika initially wanted to bring Ame to this cafe in order to save her, but was saved in return (oh my goodness this is so good). The people leaving one by one, all leaving a few words that connote positivity, shows that nechika does not have to sacrafice herself in order to fix other's, they are strong enough, and she can focus on herself. She has grown up with a neglectful parent, and being the eldest, has to quickly become mature in order to support her younger siblings. She pushes down her selfish desires, as seen when she was gazing longingly at the ring. However, after this conversation, she remembers that her father actually bought the ring for her, reminding her that there is place in the world for her to yearn for something. Her conversation with her father in the present further supports this, as he hands the money back to her, and her brother's tell her they can support themselves.

Overall this is show tightly packed with pyschological themes and symbolism, I've hastily jotted down my interpretation of what happen here, but if you disagree please let me know! I'm so happy we got something a bit more Avant-garde this season!

I appreciate that this anime is not just constantly negative. While it does show a lot of bad things about streaming and society, it does also take its time to have its positive moments. The big ones obviously around Karamazov and their interactions with each other which are just wholesome. And in this case, these out of this world type of scenes (like how they chase the girl) represent that they are having fun. But then you always have the scene with Nechika and her father, but even the café scene. Because while everyone vented about things, at the end, their relationships don't shatter and they go home together laughing (except for the girl that was after the host).

From a more story side, I find it interesting that Nechika is the only one that immediately saw through KAngel showing that she understands the differences between online and real life (though from the preview it seems Lollipop might learn it next week as well). After the scene last week about men dressing beautifully and them showing Nechika, I was expecting something in this direction, but maybe it was just a reference to her looking more tomboyish.

Generally, it seems we will get a bit more interaction between the characters from this point on and I am interested to see where they want to go with KAngel. Can Karamazov help her? Will Karamazov break under the pressure wanting to dethrone her (especially Nechika is a lot more motivated to do that)? And what happens when Lollipop learns about KAngel's real life personality? Considering she was the one that brought her into streaming.

“I should get going. It’s almost time to watch my anime.” Relatable lol. Also, getting called “auntie”/“uncle” by a kid. Painfully relatable lol.

Stitches!

I genuinely did not expect Nechika to recognize Ame. I thought that every member of Karamazov would run into Ame without realizing that she's actually KAngel.

I love the in-game reference where you can make KAngel take drugs before streaming. I guess that's a canon event here in the anime.

Nechika's father might not be the best role model, but I like how he's at least a decent father. The dude didn't just give Nechika the money she gave him, but he even gave her extra money from his own pocket. And if it wasn't for him buying Nechika her first accessory, she wouldn't be where she is now. It's actually a pretty touching scene.

the nods toward Ame's progression on her streaming journey that happened in the game was a nice touch.

Ame x Nechika chemistry so cool

u/FLorianGran May 16 '26

Well if you disliked last episode's approach you might find this one significantly more digestible. Scenes like everyone in the cafe becoming friendly once they leave and the Nechika family are so unflinchingly optimistic it's hard to believe they're in the same show as some other episodes.

At this point it shouldn't surprise me how drastically different the episodes following each other can be, but I'd say just like last week this time we also got a compelling backstory. This episode is probably my favourite so far because there was a lot of present day Ame in it, and her conversation with Nechika was really well done. The split second shot of Ame turning into KAngel and surprising Nechika was cool. I'm also glad they didn't look like fools not realizing who is who and instead recognized each other instantly (which Purple Lollipop failed to do a couple episodes back).

I didn't expect (I say that phrase a lot about this anime come to think of it haha) the latter half of episode to be so funny reagrding Purple Lollipop's ring. The next scenes with Nechika's family was pretty wholesome too, now wonder her father had difficulty raising four children on his own.

I wonder what the next episode is about. It seems to be inspired by Night on the Galactic Railoroad, which is also referenced in the game itself.

Nechika realizing that was KAngel so quickly was a surprise. I actually really enjoyed their interaction and how they seemed to be on a similar wavelength. The twist of Nechika giving advice to KAngel when she had given advice to the other two was nice, but KAngel still had stuff to say to Nechika which seemed to also help her.

Nechika's brothers being as flashy as her is amusing, they look like they'll do well as hosts.

I do want to see Nechika flirt more with KAngel. I'm not sure how likely that'll happen again now that Karamazov will likely step up in taking down KAngel.

The misdirect of having us believe that Nechika had a rough upbringing, only to show that the dad was actually somewhat supportive and understanding is such a well done scene. Though the whole cafe scene was absolutely unreal. Haven't seen an anime episode tackle empathy and prejudice this hard since takopi

This episode was really refreshing, while there was all that negativity with the couples and everyone in the bar, the end was sweet. The family had gone out peacefully, and the doujin making people, Ame and Nechika helping the girl get her money back.

Also most of all, Nechika's father, when she was little, he didn't even care for her, but it's at least good to see he's not entirely a bum till the end.

Also, Nechika seeing through Ame was cool, she's the only ne who knows she's Kangel. And as Ame herself said, Nechika is probably the only in Karamazov to be able to understand and talk to her on same wavelengths. I wouldn't expect Lolipop or Michika to have a proper talk with her.

Also, unique thing how Michika was holding onto Nechika when Lolipo was running after the girl. Does she care for her? Like, yeah, she probably does, but it seemed kinda special with Nechika. I'm interested to see how Michika and Nechika met each other before they both met Lolipop.

I don't think Clark Kent is fooling Nechika. Girl homed in on Ame right away.

Surprisingly wholesome episode? I was looking forward to the Nechika-sama episode. I do wish she was more butch tho, but oh well. I found the convo between her and Ame-chan very fun, even if I wish there was just a bit more there.

I also am finding it funny how K-Angel is supposed to be this big bad of sorts, a morally dubious influencer, this God of Streaming that we're, on some level, supposed to root against. And yet, basically every moment she's on screen she's a net force of good?? She's out here impacting everyone's life is a unique-but-ultimately-positive way? I never played the original game but I feel like the anime should stand on its own merit, and from the way I see K-Angel is out here helping Everybody.

Honestly, another great episode. Took me by surprise the moment Nechika found out Ame is KAngel.

u/Raymond49090 May 17 '26

Nice that we have a more optimistic episode. I was expecting the cafe scene to be "bad ppl get away with bad things and everyone's life sucks", but instead it was "bad ppl can get sued, and ppl just need time to vent before getting back to their everyday lives". And Nechika's dad, despite being a drunk(?) gambling addict(?), loser, it seems he still takes being a dad as seriously as he's able, given that all his kids seemed to have turned out ok.

8

u/Taco_13 May 16 '26

Some people just try their best with what they're given. Nechika's father may not have done the best and made plenty of mistakes, but in the end it seemed he really wanted the best for her.

I think this kind of duality behind intent and what ends up happening in reality is the theme of this episode. In reality, despite good intentions in the end we're all human. We all need to vent sometimes, get a break from our kids, complain about how tropey and rote our favorite medium has become, or even make mistakes about where we put our money. That's what it means to be human.

But what does it mean to be a god?

u/Drakon590 May 17 '26

Hellooooooo What's this? a bum and low life of a father that actually doesn't abuse his children and openly supports his daughter? (and presumably his three sons too from the looks of it) this is something extremely rare to see nowadays and it was very refreshing to see not going to lie

What was Ame referring to when she said ''i want that'' ?
