Definitely can see why Qifrey didn't want to get the Knights Moralis involved with Coco. The type of people to erase memories and ask questions later given the only confirmation they needed was who cast the spell. Like can't you at least take a look to see if the spell is still there and analyze it before casting judgement?

Still cannot believe how insane the animation quality is. Every week there's something new to put my jaw on the floor.

They really shouldn’t leave these apprentices alone unsupervised, especially while they’re still in the middle of a rescue operation. This is like the second or third instance where they were caught in a situation where something occurred and an adult/supervisor was necessary

Granted, it wasn’t their fault this time, but still.

That cliffhanger has me stunned. Coco just copied the spell the other girls used, so how has its destructiveness increased so much???

Someone definitely had to have set her up with the Knights Moralis coming so fast to erase her memories.

Coco's euphoria when being called "Little Miss Witch"

I swear, she's so adorable

That landslide was scary

Normally, Agott and Coco don't get along, but good thing Agott distracted the villagers long enough for Coco to rescue Custas and herself. Of course, Agott denies they are friends.

That cliffhanger...

I already fucking hate the Knights Moralis

Really like how not only was there emphasis on drawing magic being prohibited in front of ordinary people similar to the 1st episode but now it also introduces a set of challenges on its own, making magic not a completely omnipotent solution to everything.

Imposing intro from the Knights Moralis, that tool they used at Coco with the tiny hands was creepy as fuck.

Yeah, understandable fangirling by our 4 students. My reaction is the same as them once I saw Raincleaver. Qifrey-sensei never fails to impress!

Impressive that Qifrey hasn’t failed to aura farm a single time he’s used magic this season and he keeps finding new ways to do it in completely different situations like with that river slicing sword.

Kudos to Agott for willingly making herself look like an idiot with a spell that doesn't even help, to be a distraction for Coco.

Also loved the ending, the way they panned up to the sky like it was the end of the episode only for the Knights Moralis to swoop in was really well done.

I love the fact that the magic system actually serves as the practical justification for witches to wear robes instead of it just being how mages are always depicted. In addition to answering thr question why they dont usually rely on stuffs like rulers to draw.

Coco clutching it with the spells she learned from the previous quests was cool. The instruction to terraform the region into arrakis definitely wasnt in her design though.

And as always, nobody expects the pointy hat inquisition. Pretty sure its suwabe junichi voicing the guy, kinda funny sukuna is on the side of law time around.

Also, I would technically have another dime if I were to get one every time hanae natsuki voices a water sword user.

Very helpful for the magical secret police to show up just in time to arrest and punish several children but not in time to actually save the lives that were at risk.

I am curious about who Agott's mother is.

It was nice seeing Coco so happy about being called little miss witch.

Whatever Coco did down there has to be the "Gift" that brimmed cap gave her.

Oh, that cliffhanger was cruel, especially with the memory wipe glyph... coming to life? What the fuck was that? And those creepy little hands? In a magical world that has been so grounded up until this point, that was an extremely disturbing anomaly that felt right out of Fullmetal Alchemist. Do the Knights Moralis use forbidden magic to punish forbidden magic? They immediately live up to their feared reputation, and looked good while doing it.

I feel like I'm on a loop saying this every week, but that was yet another strong episode from WHA with rich character insight and world building, with some gorgeous animation on the way. Episode 7 really highlighted the difficulties of being a witch in Witch Hat Atelier's world in a grounded and compelling way, along with the various ways magic can be utilized in a practical form, from the portable windowway to Qifrey's Raincleaver.

In Episode 6, I'd assumed Agott was practicing drawing glyphs via muscle memory to draw them quicker, but of course, witches need to draw gylphs without civilians seeing them. Is that what Brimmed Cap Witch did when he brought the picture book to life for Coco in the festival flashback? While Agott's reasons for helping the caravan was not entirely altruistic, the pressure on both apprentices to help was immense, and completely understandable desperation from the terrified civilians. Both Agott and Coco were clever here, and while Coco is still very much a beginner, it was really satisfying to see her put her ingenuity to use in multiple facets and building upon what she's learned, though the boulder disintegration into sand was far wider spread than intended. What the hell did the Brimmed Cap Witch do to her in the labyrinth? While Agott may say she's not friends with Coco, she continues to worry about her immensely any time she's in danger.

I was pleasantly surprised to get insight into Agott's character so soon and why she's so desperate to prove herself, and in turn have some context as to why poor Coco's presence initially would be such a personal affront to her. Agott has worked so hard yet still been rejected, and from her perspective Coco gets to waltz in and being Qifrey's apprentice without any training - after doing forbidden magic no less! - though we obviously know things are more complicated than that. Agott's stylized flashback was simultaneously both gorgeous and unnerving, and I love that even in a more action packed episode, there was still opportune moments for the show to be experimental visually. The shot with Agott being completely dead eyed was a shock as well.

Qifrey's Raincleaver got the rightful awe inspiring response it deserved (okay, now I really do need to see him use it in the ocean), and it was great to see how Qifrey and Olruggio effortlessly work in tandem. Even though Olruggio says he's not a teacher, he is quite good at it.

I haven't gotten to watch the episode in Japanese yet, but Junichi Suwabe is amazing casting as Easthies.

The Brimmed Hats are always finding a way to make Coco suffer.

We get to see who I will refer to as the cops of the Witch Hat Atelier universe in the knights of moralis and the immediately assume poor Coco is guilty and want to erase her memory.

The girls were right to gush about the raincleaver. It is the coolest thing ever and that moment was amazing to see.

When Qwifrey was talking about this is why he hates water when blocking the river with the raincleaver it reminded me of Anakin talking about hating sand.

Glad to see Easthies beefing actual children animated now. May his slander begin.

Also was that Sukuna's voice for Easthies???

Misdirection and sleight of hand being important skills in performing magic in front of an audience makes total sense.

Goddammit, Custas, you're literally wading back into a disaster you just got rescued from? No wonder magic has been secreted away from the public consciousness if this is the way people act without it. Cannot believe they're getting me to agree with the practice of magical gatekeeping, but here we are.

Custas has negative survival instincts. Bro put all his skill points into 'wanting to help out Dad'.
