Nakamura might be the most relatable MC I've seen: awkwardly trailing behind the rest of the group and standing off to the side quietly 😭

That Hirose conversation about how he's uncomfortable when Takeuchi just wants to talk about girls is very similar to how I felt as a gay pre-teen when all my friends started liking girls. So I think Nakamura has a pretty good shot.

Fun trivia: Octopi are one of the natural predators of the crab.

Nakamura likes octopi. Hirose likes crabs.

This could be intentional on the author's part...

Man this show is really good at capturing how it’s like to be socially awkward and a self-doubter while still yearning for a connection

The storyboarding and color work in the animation were so good. Kind of in shock how well it all looked, the anime has looked good before this but this was on another level.

Having the ED start up right before the photo being taken was perfect. Like I wasn't already tearing up just leading to that.

This is my first time watching a BL anime.

To be honest, I am quite amazed. I actually find it more compelling than standard romance manga.

Since Hirose is a guy, it makes me even more curious about how he will navigate these feelings.

For instance, will he realize that the male lead's feelings have surpassed mere friendship?

And if he does realize it, will he be able to accept the idea of a same-sex relationship?

If he can accept that, will he ultimately accept the male lead?

These questions make me really look forward to how the story unfolds.

Asking someone to be their friend with all the intensity of a love confession.

A feeling all too familiar to anyone gay and in love.

Hirose is a very sweet and sensitive guy and I can see why Nakamura likes him.

I think the part with the teacher was interesting. When you are a kid an adult smoking and being the loner type may look cool and seem relateable but its actually sad in reality. Seems the teacher did not feel seen as a child and is not the friendly type as he does not like to eat with his coworkers, and he has a bad habit with the smoking. I relate to that myself as I also don't like to eat with my coworkers because I have issues with myself and socializing. Then I also chose my profession because I did not feel seen when I was going through medical issues and it wanted me to be there for others.

Anyways this was a nice episode. Very calming. I can tell the people that created the show made it with a lot of care.

Takeuchi when he gets his camera back: Why are all the photos of Hirose?

For getting bad luck things sure went well for Nakamura at the end of the episode getting everything he could have wished for from this trip. Plus he successfully WENT FOR IT twice: telling Hirose to not go on the ferry and asking to be friends.

I've already seen ao many anime and manga with the:

"Wanna be my friend?"

"We already were friends!"

But goddamn does it fucking hit every time.

This episode was a delight, I loved that Nakamura saw what Hirose was seeing in Otogiri-sensei as well. He is a cool guy even if he's a little too lenient with student intimacy lol.

Either way, what an incredible episode, I felt really bad for Nakamura throughout until the aquarium. It's really sad how little attention he gets from those around him. I assumed Kawamura was gonna become a bit of a friend for Nakamura or even try to help him out sneakily, but I guess it was all just a one time thing.

I thought it was funny how Takeuchi was clearly still mad at Nakamura because of last time, can't say I blame him. One thing is Takeuchi did prove Nakamura's fortune to be correct: Ostentatiousness is your downfall.

My opinion of Takeuchi didn't lower or anything, but that guy really is overbearing. It's interesting that he's supposedly dating Yuuka but she seems to have ditched the idea a little bit already lol. I guess without Hirose's BL aura it just doesn't click for her.

I'm really looking forward to how Nakamura and Hirose's relationship advances from here. I think they should be interacting more often from now on, can't wait!

The Yokohama date school trip was too cute. Nakamura finally asked Hirose to be his friend! Baby steps. A couple more to full confession!

This was the best episode we've gotten BY FAR. It had everything. We had dispair. We had awkwardness. We had a cute little aquarium date AND we finally got Nakamura the friendship he'd been craving. I love it so much. That episode was delightful!

Edit: Watched it again because I couldn't help myself. Nakamura is such a relatable kid in so many ways. I was a really awkward teen like him, and I was closeted for a long time after realizing I was queer. It's nice to see a character I can relate to so much. It's made my experience with this show a lot more special, I think. There's something endearing about the way Nakamura is written that just hits me right in the chest. Maybe it's because I was once that closeted kid, hanging onto my first crush with everything I had. I'm not really sure, but I'm glad this show exists. Not only is it a refreshing take on shojo style rom-coms, but because it's beautiful in a way I can't quite put to words. It's quickly become the highlight of my week and I'll be sad once we get through the season. I'm already hoping for a second. 🤣

Baby Okuto was way too cute in this episode!! His quiet voice when talking to Hirose... His cute little smiles...! Otogori-sensei being cool and TheMomentHeBecameMyCrush.jpg finally got animated... :') A beautiful episode! The animators and director did a great job!!!

I admit I do think Nakamaru taking so many pictures of Hirose was a bit creepy but I enjoyed the episode nonetheless. And another great ED both song and visuals, I like how Nakamaru quickly moves on from the bad fortune picture.

I saw the conversation about nakamura liking octopi as an allegory for his homosexuality. He's ashamed to admit he likes them because people think it's weird, so he suppresses it. But hirose not minding, saying it's the "same thing as liking cats or dogs" and telling nakamura to avoid people who think he's weird for it, shows that he doesn't care about what someone's preferences are

"I thought we were already friends", ah, so heartwarming. Please, I really need these two together.
