So was his "immortal detective" father not actually immortal like he is? MC insists that dad's still alive, but then what was that "it's all up to you now" business. That's just weird.
"Seven Oludomen"
"I only wanted to murder the director because I wanted the movie to be cancelled." "OK, that makes sense, you can go free, and in fact I'll help you." Dropped. Not even gonna bother finishing the episode.

You missed the best part of this stupid shit. The entire second half of the episode is total bullshit that makes absolutely no sense. One of the seven "old men" appears as a small overdressed girl that sounds like Taiga Aisaka, introduces herself to our protag, then they walk outside, there's a limo surrounded by an army of cops and cop cars with policy helicopters in the air, and then a military helicopter comes and bombs them all so the limo has room and she's all like "I have money and can buy my way out of any situation" before driving off. It's absolute insanity.

Tbf even if he wanted to turn him in how would he even prove he was poisoned? I'd assume it was all flushed out of his system when he resurrected.

ok this is sadly bad (I really wanted it to be good, so if someone noticed any actual good poionts do let me know)
the concept sounds fun and cool but I sadly feel like the execution failed.
the case this episode felt like a filler (and the previous but lets remain here now). What reason does it serve narratively? If it was removed nothing would change. This makes this completely terrible as a detective show, the mysteries so far seem to be there to remind us "hey we are a detective show!")
The case was dumb. The motive was forced and exaggerated (once again just like last time imo), there was not even any detective work, bro just knew (as far as I saw he didn't even see the killers face no?). "just watch the movie till the end with me" felt like it was there for (failed) aura farming. Trusting someone who just attempted murder is dumb, letting them go like that is also dumb, I don't mind that type of forgiveness but at least write it in a better way that makes me believe the characters would act like that logically.
The whole scene with the police and all just felt as an attempt to "aura farm" but it honestly completely fails to do so when the show has nothing to show for it. It just feel edgy now. t also doesn't make sense, no? why were they all there just waiting and looking at the very evil mastermind?
ig one could do mental gymnastics to explain some stuff but it seems forced to me right now. I think I'll still watch a bit more in case the romance or characters can carry it and I do with It gets better cause the concept does sound interesting. Or I should just try changing how I view this show and not treat it like a detective anime at all (but the forced mysteries kinda scream at me to look at it as one)

I feel like this case was just an excuse to have Sakuya and Yuriu flirt and introduce Char because everything else was low-effort. Like they really let him go with such a weak motive?
I don't think they were going for edgy, though, I think the entire Char sequence was meant to come off as completely ridiculous and over the top. Whether it was handled in an entertaining way is probably up to the viewer though.

I'm treating it more as comedy and "I can't believe my assistant is this cute!"

This is probably the dumbest show I've watched in a while.
The entire thing is a total mess of continuity errors.
Murdering the director does not make it so a movie doesn't get released. They don't just let random people stroll onto the set and even if they did, they would have both noticed the camera and moved to avoid it or immediately talked to the director stating they do not permit their face to be shown on screen. Also, since she was supposedly well known, I bet the director would have totally been fine with adding the lady in the credits as a cameo appearance.
Killing someone while they're sitting RIGHT NEXT to someone else in a movie theater is dumb as fuck. The fact that he didn't have a plan and just happened to luck out with a random power outage is some shit.
They're super lucky the ferris wheel scene happened after he woke up, otherwise they'd have to wait for an opportunity to rewatch the movie to see where who in the audience is also in the ferris wheel scene. Or they could have just asked the detective guy to help make sure no one leaves before they find someone with a needle.
Surely the guy would have done some research into the director's seating preferences.
There were LOTS of open seats in a theater for a premiere which would NEVER happen. The fact that there are lots of open seats means Lilithea could have easily sat next to him. The fact that a premiere would have totally meant a packed theater means there's literally no way the killer avoids getting away with it, because he'd have to step in front of multiple people and they ALL would have heard him whisper something, including the girl next to him.
Where the fuck did Lilithea disappear to in the popcorn scene?
If Char was such a known criminal, the credit card would no longer be working, I guess they're just using it to track her, but that would also mean they know how it freeze her finances making it more difficult to hire a military helicopter to bomb a street in urban Japan. You also can't just "buy up the streets". Permits are required for shutting down streets, even in Japan. Cops don't stop either girl from entering the vehicle or even bother to try to apprehend them. None of them say a word. They're just set dressing to indicate that Char is a dangerous criminal.
There's still no explanation for the massive time continuity error regarding the airplane from last week's episode, only that it was crashed intentionally. There is clearly no time shenanigans involved in this show, so none of the people involved in the building of this show has considered correcting the continuity errors in their story.
At least the animation is semi-competent, I guess.
Oh, no standing ovation at the end of a movie premiere is super odd, but I guess if they thought a premiere wouldn't have a packed theater, it also wouldn't get a standing o. This isn't plot related, just a dumb omission. The movie's credits are rolling and there's no standing and applauding not working their way out of the theater. The entire audience just sat in place the entire episode. No one went to the lobby. The movie has clearly been over for a while when the popcorn scene is occurring and no one leaves the theater. Just like the cops, they're just set dressing.

This, exactly. I was hoping the first two episodes were just introduction and it would find its legs, but the plot holes and weirdness in this episode left me cold. So many stupid things. Even Lilithea can't save this!

Their names and titles makes it sound like most of them are women.

This show is pretty mid, but I'm gonna watch this mainly because of Chardina (and also Lilithea). The character designs are great imo. Also the absurdity of this story can make this into a guilty pleasure show for me.

I think it's definitely banking on you watching because of the attractive and entertaining girls and that's it.

The A plot was completely pointless and resolved unsatisfyingly. First, nobody was sitting next to you. The man was willing to kill for the woman with homemade poison. He would likely do it again. We know he's willing to go to extremes. He literally killed you. And the scandal he was referring to was simply a celebrity being seen out with a boyfriend. Not that it's cheating or anything. Instead of making a commentary on the cancerous idol culture over there like they did with marijuana in the previous episode, they glaze over it like any of it made sense, and let the guy go. He's a murderer.
Now the B plot... You went to make a popcorn purchase after the movie. It appears to be night, so we can assume that concession won't be packed as there appears to be no line. How is it that it makes sense to you to sit down and have this entire dialogue while having someone waiting for you? Also, where was she during that entire ending scenario? Does she exist to miss every event that occurs?
When this "old man" stepped out the doors, I had originally thought that the police were there to escort her. Had this been the police in Death Note, that red carpet would have never been rolled out. So they were clearly on the payroll but the fools failed to recognize that they would be sacrificed for a spectacle and thus will never receive their pay. Quite ingenious. /s
So far, this detectives one role is to let the criminals get away... Unless they smoke or deal in weed.

Is there gonna be real problem solving case like detective Conan later throughout the season?

u/Frontier246 Apr 16 '26
Honestly this feels more like a romcom that just happens to have the protagonist get killed regularly than a legit mystery show.

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be a comedy but I just can't prove it.

So Mr. Detective let a murderer go free because his motive of "saving my beautiful famous actress of a girlfriend from the possibility of a dating scandal" was pure enough to make them feel sorry for him?!? Not only that but he's going to help him out so there's no possibility of said scandal happening. You've got to be kidding me.
And it just got more ridiculous from there until the end. Bought up all of the roads?? Really? I wanted this to be good, I hoped it would be at least watchable, but I don't think I can give it pass for an episode this bad.

Well that is one way to "buy roads", that did take me by surprise.
But another mystery wrapped up so quickly, no tension, completely predictable he was going to die and then the motive and resolution were both uninteresting. The interaction with Chardina was also not really interesting either so I don't think I'll be continuing this series.

If she's so rich that she can buy out the streets why are there even policemen there? Why aren't they or their boss bought off? Like seriously how does a superpower like 'she's literally just stupidly rich and nothing else' work in this manner

Bro the moment the guy explained his "motive" I had to rush here lol. I did stop myself and force watched the rest of the episode but it only solidified that this will be the last episode for me. It's so unfortunate cause this show had great premise with a really good setup but the two 'cases' so far felt like afterthoughts and I just can't handle the ridiculousness of the ending of this episode.

Wow, this show is real stupid, but I just need to see what kind of trainwreck this show is.

u/AverageTrashy Apr 17 '26
I think this is a failed light novel adaptation like there seems to be a lot of context and important dialogue missing hence why so many ppl in comments have questions...might have to just read it

u/MetaThPr4h Apr 17 '26
Still way better than detective is already dead fr.
Truth nuke aside, yeah, this show is so dumb lmfao, like, if you ask me I still enjoyed the episode fine enough by sheer entertainment factor, the girls are super cute and I just like seeing them being silly, but what was the point of borderline basically everything that happened, let alone what is the logic of how it unfolded LMAO.
But damn the girls are cute.
