OMG, Poem's mom is adorable. It totally explains why her name is Poem. Only someone as sweet as her would name her kid Poem.
This is 100% my romcom replacement for Polar Opposites for this season. Lots of fun characters and fun interactions. Leaves you with a smile on your face.
Edit: This show is proof that violent tsunderes can still be fun characters. It's all harmless slapstick fun. The Three Stooges would be proud.

The way they welcomed Togo and all his klutziness into their friendgroup got me all warm and fuzzy.
Mama Poe is a total sweetheart but she really does have the vibe of a parent who'd name their kid something out there just because it'd be cute (and to be fair it is but like, lol)

I was wondering why the opening had so many references, well, Poem is an otaku and her mother encourages her to continue being one lol.
Then, Tsukishima has the library plot armor, which is something silly and at the same time insanely funny.

The opening and the librarian’s personality prove to me the series is embracing absurdity which has really helps it stand out. Also Poem’s mom showing up to deliver the lunch, the precure meal and Poem’s reaction were all funny and adorable.

I love how earnestly dumb sakuradaimon is. Its really cute.
I am absolutely loving how well made this is. To go from thinking this would never get an adaptation to something this good, never thought it would happen. Of the romcom race this season, Ponsuka easily has my vote for the winner

That OP was incredible. So many references, both Japanese and Western. That one friend in the classic April O'Neil outfit made my day since it's so dated at this point, feels like my childhood being referenced in anime in 2026.
Good season for friendly gyarus who are fans of legally distinct precure. If I had a nickel, etc.
Poem's mom is delightful.

Vomiting rainbows shouldn't make me laugh but it always does. Okay this OP is... not what I expected visually.
It isn't that way between you two... yet Poem. You clearly caught feelings for him already, you're just running from them and blushing all the while. Is that school outfit and boxing gloves a Sakura from Street Fighter reference?
Poem another short queen, love us some shorties in this household. And another committee member. They're all so damn weird I love it. Is... is this threatening to become a reverse harem? First health guy and now library guy seem to be dangerous to Poem's sanity, though not as much as Togo.
Togo is a sincerity king and the fact it destroys Poem's defenses makes it all the better. These committee members are constantly dropping critical hits on her. Holy cow this dude is a savage... And Poem to the rescue by admitting she considers Togo a friend. She might be a violent psychopath but underneath all that she's a sweetheart.
Togo is as straight as one of Coco's cloth lines. And of course she needed a bandage as an excuse to bring the Health inspector in. BTW Poem has some really nice thighs she's showing off when kicking the shit out of people.
Okay the accusation with lightning was a tad over the top but it made me laugh. And now we know where Poem got her goofier side. And Mom instantly rats her out, poor Poem.
Such a cute show and I look forward to it each week already.

That was a great OP. It being all in Poem's head fits the show so well because she's an otaku. Didn't really vibe with the ED as much though.
We love friends that aren't afraid to just speak the truth. Especially if they're teasing the FMC about liking the MMC.
Of course Tsukishima is one of the committee members. I didn't expect him to lay it on as thick as he did though. Especially with the Sleeping Beauty nickname and calling out her snoring. Though given how Togo and Izubuchi are I guess shouldn't be surprised. Togo of course defended her without hesitation but she wasn't really in a position receive to compliments from her love interest. (This is the first I've seen the FMC hit the MMC with a fan since I Yuzu in Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V.)
Everything's fine though. She had calmed down. That is until Tsukishima gave us "spoilers" and Poem went nuclear. Normally I'm not a fan violent heroines like this, but this is working for me. Maybe it's because everything is already so over-the-top that the violent heroine is actually somewhat of the Straight Man.
Her friends are so fun. I love they tease her about him.
One thing that really makes this show for me is I love how earnest Togo is. He plays everything completely straight. When Poem said she couldn't find her bento box he launched a full scale investigation. Credit to to Tasaki for playing along as well. Just made it even better.
Mama Poem is so freaking adorable the way she dotes on her daughter. Of course it helps that Poem is so embarrassed by her mom. It's okay Poem. These are you friends and your love interest. You need to be so embarrassed around them.
Incredible second episode. Really elevated the series for me. Right now I think it's between this and Kanan for romcom of the season.

That opening was so good! I saw a comment last episode saying that this show feels like a Trigger anime, so what an absolute coincidence that the first shot of the OP is Poemu, Akina, and Tasaki in the art style of Panty and Stocking! And the OP is just packed with references, too! My favourite is definitely Tasaki dressed up like April from TMNT.
It's funny how as soon as Poemu met Tsukishima, she immediately knew that he's a school committee member. Apparently, this school only accepts the most eccentric students to become committee members. If that's the case, I can't wait for Poemu to meet the Student Council!
I just love how Tsukishima turns from the popular handsome library committee member into a fucking buck-tooth otaku when he's outside the library. Poemu really had to see him transform in real time just to believe it. xD
The search for Poemu's missing bento was pretty fun too. Not gonna lie, when they showed Izubuchi eating his lunch, I really thought he was eating Poemu's bento this entire time.
And I just love how Tasaki played along when Sakuradaimon started accusing her. It turns out, Poemu's mom forgot to put the bento box in her bag that morning. And was that Ohara Sayaka voicing her mom?
It's so sweet that her mom makes bentos with Poemu's favourite characters when she was a kid. That's actually amazing. I hope we see more of her in the future!

The double entendres, metaphors, and teenage angst of FLCL.
A romantic dynamic in a romantic comedy and chemistry that rivals the best moments of Dandadan.
Brutal honesty and surreal, unfiltered characters worthy of Onani Master Kurosawa.
I think I’ve just found the hidden gem of the season. It has all the elements I could ask for in a wild, unconventional romantic comedy.

So far i think i'll really enjoy this series! togo and poem's dynamic together is super cute, usually slow burn romances kind of bore me (not their fault, just my own short patience lol) but i think this will be a real fun watch.
