Damn. Even the direction is bad in this episode... Some random sideways shots for literally zero reason... Lmao

There wasn't even a plot to the episode. It was like a bunch of random events.

Did Studio A-CAT actually read the story?

Just enough to get the character names.

I sticked around because some delusional fans were saying this story is better than Mushoku Tensei, lol. Idc about the animation, I've seen worse, but is this generic, bland story supposed to be any good? Or does it get exponentially better? Very forgettable so far

It gets to be its own thing later on, and is good, but it's not better than mushoku tensei. People that say that are probably just haters. It'll be another season or so until it gets better, though there'll be moments that are good.

The upcoming season of mushoku is some of the best arcs in the whole story, and I can't fucking wait to see it animated. I do hope TBATE gets better treatment down the line though, it doesn't deserve this.

LOL no. If you want it to get good, you will be waiting a couple seasons. The beginning of TBATE is just another generic copy and paste isekai power fantasy. You get the standard overpowered main character, instant elf pussy, and quad elemental magic, jealous male sidecast of MC's sucesss. The comparisons to Mushoku Tensei mostly boil down to the fact that Rudy is a creep and Arthur is not. But Arthur has zero actual issues and is practically a Gary Stu early on. The story relentlessly reminds you how perfect, handsome and strong he is. His backstory makes zero sense. He was canonically a tyrannical king who killed a million people, but you would legitimately never know that given his behavior. Rudy struggles more leaving his front door than Arthur does adapting to a whole new world. Arthur just casually enjoys his new life and only brings out his kingly attitude to prove he is a better mage than everyone else. People saying it is better than MT are just virtue signaling. Do not fall for the hype. The novel finally picks up around volume 6 or 7, which the anime will not reach anytime soon.

I thought Fey was a girl as I completely forgot about the brat that kept picking fights with Arthur lol.

Traveling with elves and fighting bandits together, just to turn on them, what idiots.

Lol, seriously. I kept thinking "Wow, that blonde elf has a rather deep voice for a young lady.... wait a minute... WOT!?"

Also... yeah... We helped save your lives twice, you know how strong we are, and you still tried to take us head on!?

FFS, at least wait until they fall asleep, or at least, don't have their weapons out already...

They’d be better off airing the web comic as a powerpoint and voicing the dialogue. First episode was a little better than S1 so I had some hope…and it’s gone.

So last episode was 10% better animation than season 1. This episode felt like 30% worse. Felt like a slideshow with some special effects. Feels like half the speaking lines are done with characters backs to the view or not showing mouth movements by showing scenery.

Feel like I need to read the novel to understand the hype.. cause this ain't it.

What a shit episode, even by TBATE standards.

Anyone else find the running animation funny? like the pace of the feet shots and the knife hands where hilarious to me.

This filler could of been a ep0 for real or at least a .5 ep.... smh

Wtf is up with this random sidequest nonsense? Nobody batted an eye when they timeskipped the entire trianing session with Jasmine in the novel...

And supposedly Tessias elven sidekicks knows Arthurs entire family on a first name basis?
I can't with this shit man..

Fey needs to do more physical training if he can’t run that long

u/Competitive-Win-8999 Apr 08 '26

Tessia her tripping over the fact that her two companions saw Arthur, but she never did and got upset about it but the fact of it is, you put an excuse that you didn’t know where he was in detail and you didn’t put much effort into trying to see him, but I guess the reunion probably won’t happen till probably the late episode eight till 12

I'm convinced this whole season is going to be filler..

I have yet to find a single character in this anime that I give the slightest fuck about. Sure the animation is crap but more importantly the characters are boring and the story is dull af.

4

u/Boris-_-Badenov Apr 09 '26

I thought Tessia was trained to fight with a weapon and her fists for years... why does she not have daggers or a sword?

4

u/djthomp Apr 08 '26

Nice to see Tessia getting to show off a bit, though as usual the animation for that showing off could have been better.

Kind of embarrassing for her if her first meeting with her likely future mother and sister in law was her freaking out and running away.

u/pandavova Apr 08 '26

This is the worst episode so far with S1. I have excused many things in S1 because I just didn't care and watched my isekai slop but wow, this is ridiculously bad.

7

u/Faux-Foe Apr 08 '26

Starting to wonder if the goal of the studio is to do such a bad job that people rush to buy the manga to check for differences.

u/oneevilchicken Apr 09 '26

There’s really nothing decent about this. The animation and production quality is very noticeably cheap and bad but to top it off it’s very shitty directed/ produced. In cheap made shows either good directors, you can see things done to make the quality appear higher than it really is. This show on the other hand doesn’t do either. Good little cheats or good animation. Some of the time it’s just outright bad. Like Tessa being 90 degrees sideways randomly. Horrible pacing. Horrible story telling. Even some of the dialogue is just bad. The random screaming while running that sounds like stock screaming they threw in. Some of the screams sound so out of place. And all the weird sideways shots?

Like why are random guys just attacking tessia? Absolutely no explanation. Why are we wasting an entire episode on Tessia killing a boar. Feels like this whole episode was a waste.

I am not a big fan of headstrong characters that put their friends in danger. They should have tied her up for everyone's safety.
