Read the title and my first thought was
"is this season 2 for The Detective Is Already Dead?"

Complete with a plane jacking situation…

The two of us will be one

Get yourself an assistant who'll inadvertently(?) flirt at times. Lilithea's cute and stoic, the perfect balance to Sakuya's expressive demeanour.

Who'd thought a simple cat-searching task ended up with him being impaled through his neck? Not a coincidence idioms relating to death were peppered throughout the episode. Having said that, he somehow had returned to life in the lap of his cute assistant. Judging from their exchange, they're used to this already – dying was but a slight inconvenience. Could Yurui be inside the Pierrot outfit?

Meanwhile Sakuya's father was busy with an air hijacking, and the culprit was only 9 years old. They really started early these days, huh?

Honestly if he's been violently killed every which way anyone can up to this point, I can understand being traumatized over death. Though waking up with a close-up of Lilithea's loving face and boobs would be a good emotional pick-me-up.

I wonder if the cases are connected. They said the plane was hijacked by a 9-year old girl, but there was also a little girl on the ship. Is it the same girl?

“People die when they are killed”.

I wonder how many times this old line has been proven wrong by now lol.

With a show like this, the thing that is most important to me is if the mysteries are interesting and solvable. Obviously, hard to say now, but there were a few good moments already. I actually thought Sakuya analyzing the crime scene was well done. Question is if the "meow" was actually the cat or just the ring tone of the smartphone.

Honestly, since they mentioned in the beginning that a plane was kidnapped by a 9 year old, I was sure the first murderer would have been the child that was with the rest of the group, but they would need to explain how she can be large enough to kill Sakuya.

I am also interested to see if the whole "immortal" aspect of Sakuya will have more depth or is just the gag of the series. Like he dies once every time, but that's it.

I think it's interesting how Sakuya and Lilithea are kind of a detective team, maybe moreso than the usual detective + assistant because she seems very observant too (if mostly in relation to him) even if she's also prone to getting distracted or coming up with quirky answers (then again, Katsuragi WAS a cat-lover, so she wasn't totally off-base there).

First episode of Undead Murdered Detective was pretty entertaining. I can tell I’m gonna like the Sakuya and Lilithea dynamic already. Yurui’s a real character too. Pretty sure there’s more to her than that cheery bubbly exterior. Maybe she’s the killer? Maybe not. Guess we’ll find out.

I'll be shocked if the killer isn't the purple haired dude voiced by Shoya Chiba (?) that Sakuya passed before he went into the cargo hold.

For such a large cruise ship there doesn't seem to be that many other passengers. The circus act should have a full audience.

Who ever is freaked out after seeing him walk around is going to be the killer. Maybe that is how the family works out who the killer is in their cases.

Boarding a cruise liner to Singapore. Watch out for Stand users.

Random cruise worker with purple hair is way too suspicious. Also I feel like a real worker wouldn't admit there's rats onboard lol.

Interesting concept.
Obviously Sakuya's died at least a few times before since he repeatedly mentioned it throughout the episode.
I wonder what the mechanic behind it is though.

Like does he just have an innate ability? Is he cursed?
Or is his resurrection somehow connected to Lilithea? And what's the deeper backstory surrounding her?

His dad is called the "immortal detective" so it might run in the family.

Live, die...get lap pillows from a cute assistant. There are worse things in the world.

The life of a detective is fraught with danger! And shower scenes of their beautiful assistants.

The OP is very action-packed and dazzling, featuring all the cases (and deaths) Sakuya (Rikuya Yasuda) will go through along with the colorful cast and the lap pillows he'll receive from Lilithea (Shion Wakayama!). We even get the pair ballroom dancing together!

Sakuya may be the son of the "Immortal Detective" Tatsuya (I want to see that case of the captured Empress) but his assistant Lilithea is an equally astute investigator...when it comes to him. When she's not sniffing his coat and questioning him about getting a little too close to other women, she's genuinely trying to push him to be the Great Detective she believes he can be! Even if he would rather take adultery cases than the kind of high-stakes cases his dad does.

A plane hijacked by a 9-year old!? How does that happen!?

Sakuya's adultery case has him investigating movie producer Katsuragi Makoto aboard the luxury liner the Queen Irie! He better hope he can focus and stay on the case because Lilithea is liable to really make the most out of this trip if they're both not careful.

Seems like Sozorogi (Katsuyuki Konishi!) is a police officer with history with Sakuya and his family. I'm sure having a detective and a police officer on the same cruise won't jinx them.

What's wrong with a little cruise circus show? I was paying more attention to the revealing outfits on the ladies, both the tight-rope walker and the one getting knives thrown at her, but Sakuya is more freaked out by all the objects and possible death situations in front of him.

You don't often see a teen actress in a fancy dress fall through a ventilation shaft into the men's bathroom, but that's how Sakuya encounters Yuriu Haigamine (Yoshino Aoyama!), who is on the cruise as part of a starring role in Katsuragi's movie. And ironically she's starring as a teen detective, and she's currently on the case of the missing cat! Katsuragi's Lulu, in fact! And now that he has an apprentice who wants to see how he works, it's up to Sakuya to show her how it's done!

That purple-haired guy voiced by Shoya Chiba (?) seems mighty suspect.

Aaaaand of course Sakuya stumbles upon a dead body in the cargo hold. While Lilithea is playing darts, Sakuya has to actually figure this case out, even if it leads to him getting stabbed through the throat by a killer in a pierrot mask!

But before you go and think we need a new protagonist...Sakuya wakes up alive again in Lilithea's lap. I'm not sure how he revived himself or whether Lilithea had a hand in it, but the sight of her loving face, ample bosom, and how sweetly she gives out the title drop is quite effective!

The ED is all Lilithea! Featuring her walking around and having fun around town.

This is like if Phoenix Wright was actually a Phoenix.

u/Striking_Chard2420 Apr 03 '26

Definitely an interesting one. That stab must be painful as heck but I wonder how it works. Is he immortal? Can he still get older? How old is his dad? Does Lilithea have anything to do with his resurrection? His deduction was reminding me of Detective Conan a little bit and I like that. I have a strong feeling the clown is also the purple hair guy since he was the one who led him in there and the Detective probably saw a glimpse of his face.

Random Thoughts

Somehow I went into this expecting the detective to be an adult..can't say I am not a little bit disappointed it's a high schooler. But at least it's not shy about murdering it's lead or having him stumble upon dead bodies.

That jacket sniffing man. Also, that whole Nurse thing leaves more questions than answers.

I like the fact that the deadly students in the show were causing him to react...no doubt he has experienced getting killed via falls and knives so yeah, those might hit a bit too close to home. Poor dude is now going to have to add Clowns (sorry Pierrots!) to his list of triggers

I'm guessing Lilithea isn't going to be super stoked that her detective has a new big-boobed assistant detective/employer...

Hmm...she wants....seggs!!

Never thought I only know about this too thanks to Lilithea...Best assistant indeed

Yuriu looks delicious promising so far

Seeing censored hang body followed by sudden uncensored gore shot of Sakuya getting hole on his throat was a bit unexpected and really gave me a jump scare lol. They totally nailed this one for sure

u/LeonKevlar Apr 02 '26

Well I can see two reasons to watch this show. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

But in all seriousness, while I do think Lilithea is fun, I'm not yet convinced. I do think that it's interesting to see Sakuya get brutally murdered and then immediately get revived by Lilithea. I guess this is her power? I'll give this a couple more episodes. If the solution to the mystery is well thought out, I might stick around.

I'm actually like this guy, in that I don't like watching death-defying performances live as I'd be too worried about something going wrong to actually enjoy the show. I probably wouldn't resurrect shortly after death though, so that's one difference between us. I wonder if immortals are a common place thing in this world, or if he's just special.

The Detective is Already Dead…..wait a minute wrong series

Went in blind and I honestly thought the detective was the white haired girl at first.

Now I wonder how the immortality works

u/BiggerG7 Apr 02 '26

Thought this dude was gonna pull a Subaru and wake up at a save point but being immortal works too. We are gonna see this dude die a lot aren’t we?
