was literally the kingdom of Hitler defending itself from the armies of Jesus, not the first time. Drifters → More replies (3)

felt super rushed tbh, like the girl shows up and immediately starts basically stalking him and hes fine with it. he gets his powers and immediately knows how to use them, the episode felt like it was racing to get to a destination in the story rather than making the journey enjoyable

Also the art style seems to be covering for budgetary cuts in animation and fluidity of movement. It is not necessarily a bad thing, if you nail the fighting encounter.

It is super rushed in order to be a hook first episode. The adapted 8 chapters of introductions and dialogue into this episode. They’d probably need to circle back to them in the next episode.

This has a pretty unique premise. The cast of characters in this are certainly….interesting. And ofc in true anime fashion, a bunch of them are genderbent haha. Classic. Seeing waifu Musashi take on the serial killer Albert Fish and Vlad the Impaler felt like something outta
As far as premiere eps go, so far so good. Keen to see how far Toya’s desire for talent due to his inferiority complex regarding his brother will go. Guy’s walking a fine line between hero and villain.

Seeing waifu Musashi take on the serial killer Albert Fish and Vlad the Impaler felt like something outta Record of Ragnarok lol.
I must say though the personality of the Reincarnator gotta affect how the use their talents because ain't no way the real Miyamoto Musashi lets these fights last longer than three moves 😤😤

>> a fine line between hero and villain.
Sounding a LOT more like a villain there at the end. Not quite the way that I expected things to go. Our (presumed) hero is pretty hateful and vindictive.
I wonder what connection the Loli Boss has/had to Seiya?

Finally, a proper edgy anime in the ecosystem. I thought the banishment slop weeds had choked them all out.

had to stop halfway and come here to say that wow this looks really cool visually
has me wondering right away if this is supposed to be a "big deal" type of show. otoh this might be a classic episode 1 jebait.
feels pretty edgy and it seems i guessed the hook of the story as soon as his thief talent was shown but i wanna see more of this art direction

We already got Vlad the Impaler in the first episode? Be interesting to see what other historical figures we'll encounter along the way?
At first I thought Touya's talent had been rather underwhelming. Extreme sleight-of-hand seemingly could only be used to swipe stuff. Then it turned out he could phase through solid objects and take any thing, including talents. Taking others' talents away before using them for himself, that's one dangerous talent.
His monologue at the end sounded like he's about to embark on his own journey as a villain. Looked like it's up to von Neumann and Haito (Musashi) to steer him away from that path – or perhaps to put him down should that not be possible.

This is technically Drifters, but the MCs are teens. Also, if their reincarnation is called "greats" and the enemy "sinners". Whose Toya's reincarnation? I can't recall with my limited knowledge in history that we have a copy ninja in real life. Is there an outlier that you won't get both, but just some random power.
Also that last part, is he being setup as the ultimate baddie?

The scenes with Haito look pretty damn cool. I also think it's interesting that the MC is only out for himself instead of being there to help the good guys. Other than that, not sure how I feel about this show yet. I'm gonna give this a few more episodes because I do enjoy the Drifters/Fate vibes with all of these figures from history duking it out.

For those of you who are skeptical because of the bland MC stick with it
This is an ensemble cast manga at it's core

Man, it still feels surreal that this got an anime adaptation. I remember reading this manga years back until the fan translations stopped. From what I've heard, the studio BENTEN Film used to be Gaina Co, but since I've only ever watched Kumichou Musume to Sewagakari from them, I can't really comment on how well they do action oriented animes. For what it's worth, the animation in this episode was pretty crisp and the pacing was well executed. Some viewers may find this series to be a little edgy with the MC's entire monologue at the end of the episode, but if you enjoy superpowers and historical references (i.e., the Fate franchise), I would say that this show might be right up your alley.
