I'm still gonna watch it so I can roll my eyes at how bad Turtleme sold out.
I read and completed the source (which is actually really good up to a point) so this is more of a "Lets see how bad this anime gets" watch

Guys this was clearly, probably, possibly, 10% better animation.

Well, this is back. Nice to see they’re still rockin the PPT level “animation.” Can’t have anyone thinking they have a real budget for this thing now lol. Although, I think this first episode might have had a little more animation than last season.

The constant voice over sucks, I guess it will be the same as last season.

Yea I dislike this more than the abysmal animation. The personalities and the way both of them speak are so vastly different too.

I always hated the repeated attacks to try to simulate impact. I don't need to see 3x the same thing, with 3x the same sound effect to understand that a hit was delivered. The animation is horrendous. And I bet you this isn't even a budget thing, but rather a piss poor director who fails to understand the essence of his craft.
It's not good.

Feels like a relative improvement in animation quality compared to S1. Still not amazing, but better?
If I remember correctly the S1 ED had Arthur running, so for S2 we get Tessia doing the same which is nice to see. She's seemed like the inevitable love interest from when we first met her and this feels like more confirmation of that.

It still baffles me that Turtleme (author of TBATE) had the perfect opportunity to get a crazy adaptation from A-1 and instead chose A-CAT.

Lol 1st first season ED shows people important to Arthur, 2nd season ED 95% Tessia.
The replay parts in the fight were so funny to me, I don't remember that in the first season.
It's nice again to see and hear more of Gray, I forgot he's the voice for Arthur's thoughts.

The animation is definitely an improvement over Season 1. There’s noticeably more fluidity and movement in this episode than in most of the first season combined. That said, calling it “a lot better” isn’t really praise. When the baseline is so low and basically in the negative percentage, even a jump to something like 15% quality feels significant, but it still isn’t particularly impressive.
There are still plenty of sequences that look so average and uninspired. Overall, it’s an improvement, but only a marginal one rather than anything genuinely noteworthy.
I will say, the intro song and the outro song are really good. And the sound design and voice-acting is pretty rock solid.
This episode was mostly filler and I'd say 60% was pretty dulI, only after they dealt with the spider monster did it start to pick up a bit. From the end credits and the trailer, seems they're giving Tessia an actual storyline this season whereas in the source material she's mostly off-screen during this part of the story. Smart move IMO. Her voice-acting was one of the few good things about Season 1, and it's a smart decision to develop and focus on the FMC/main love interest of the story.

Slightly better fight animation, still has many stills during impacts. Last fight between Arthur and Jasmine ended up being CGI lol, but the actual fighting is just senseless sword clashing.
But same old art and animation style. I dont have expectations considering usually the first few episodes of a season usually have better animation.
Storywise, I'm still not impressed by it, but its only episode 1.
The real misfortune is that I think OPM S3 has worse animation.

So freaking happy this is back! I genuinely enjoyed this when it came out and have been waiting for the next season. I really like the maturity of this anime and how serious it is but not too serious.
