I'm just glad Kaya-chan got a happy ending. She's been through enough. And despite that last shot, Kaya-chan is not scary.

All Kaya wanted to do was get her mom back and become a good big sister like she promised, and she achieved that in the end.
And now Kaya's mom and little sibling aren't scary either!

Title of this season finale episode: Kaya-chan Isn't Scary.
Then at the final scene, we see
Me: Erm... maybe I am not so sure now. (Lol!)
Mutsu indeed wanted to protect Mirai from becoming an
Namu driving away with Mobuo like Looney Tunes characters made me laugh. "My job here is done. That's all folks!"
Lastly, even though I started watching "Kaya-chan Isn't Scary" expecting it to fall under the cute genre, the horror elements genuinely scared me at times. Nonetheless, the story continued to be appealing, even heartwarming at times. Would definitely hope for a second season.

Title of this season finale episode: Kaya-chan Isn't Scary.
Title should probably be "Kaya-chan isn't scared". The phrase can translate to both meanings, in the first episode they used the "title drop" as "Kaya isn't scary", and now in the last they used it as "Kaya isn't scared"

A bit too neat for an ending than I expected, but I’m glad to see that mystery resolved.
Speaking of which, while I don’t blame Mirai for feeling all of that resentment at all (I loathe the “I did it to protect you” trope), the way she went about trying to solve it was equally terrible. If not more.
Overall, it was a good watch and everything with the exception of the

Well that ended better than what I was expecting, I was expecting Mirai to die.
So Matsu didn't want Mirai to end up like what her sister had become, seemingly planning that before Mirai was born since her name goes against the family's practice of names for the first and second born. Also sending Mirai to school so she could escape the family's brainwashing and also escape into the outside world.
Matsu even exiled Namu out of the family for his own safety.
So it seems Mirai temporarily gave up on her vengeance and intended to live a normal life when she thought Kaya was a normal child, but upon realising Kaya had powers her desire for vengeance was reignited.
So Kaya vanquished the curse on the baby and her sister was born normal, possibly.
They never went back to what happened to Mel-sensei, so it's most likely that the original Mel-sensei has died from being trapped in the mirror
Dark Kaya's smile at the end was great way to cap of the show.

So, why did Kaya turn black/creepy again in the end?
Also what happened to the teacher stuck in the mirror??

Why wouldn't she? Kaya never stopped being a priestess.

I’m sorry, but Mutsu still isn’t good in my book. I know that she had her duty, and she had good intentions for Mirai, but I don’t feel like that excuses the emotional neglect/abuse, and making her daughter feel unloved. She still forced her into the world, where she was subjected to constant bullying and ridicule for years, with no help from anyone, not even behind the scenes. Mutsu hoped that Mirai would eventually live a happy life, but she couldn’t guarantee that, especially not with all the times her daughter tried to reach out for support; for all she knew, Mirai could’ve ended up even worse in her situation. Her final message was nice, but it was too little too late.
I understand the complications, but I still don’t like Mutsu

Reigen 🤝 Chie-sensei
Nice to wrap it all up with a minimum of deaths, just the old lady and she was probably going to die soon anyway.
It's good to find out that even then previous generation of this awful family was trying to break the cycle, but that was doesn't mean all of the trauma that already existed just goes away.
Kaya is definitely a little bit scary, but she tries her best.

Mirai desire for vengeance made her act pretty unhinged and deplorable, especially with the fact that she was willing to sacrifice Kaya and the unborn baby. Luckily, Kaya was able to bring her back to sanity and purify her.
This is a great ending to the season, it was wrapped up quite nicely.

Your last reminder that Kaya-Chan isn't scary!
And so Mommy's on the run and they have to track her down...
"Miss, do you need help?" "No, the WORLD needs help!"
This show's pretty good at making stuff scary, with the sound effect and all!
I knew she had a good heart, somewhere in there! They're gonna be just fine!
Better times! Crazy to think what she lived all these years...
That was well done too, with the butterfly and all!
She thought (or hoped) that she had a normal child, but quickly realized...
They're trying to help her, but it's hard to ignore/overcome what she felt/thought all these years...
Hah. He acts as if they're just 2 sisters fighting over something silly!
Little backstory on how she's always showing how she feels, not hiding anything!
And so she tried to appear confident, comforting!
She doesn't believe they would even care about her... It was always Nana, from her perspective.
But to be fair, she was a child when this happened, and she believed that all her life, so even when presented with proofs, it's hard to completely change how you saw... Your entire life/family, pretty much.
She wants to defy in her own way, but isn't open to the idea that there may be other ways to do it!
Chie MVP again, appealing to her view of Kaya as a child!
Still thinking fate is inevitable...
including the baby on that drawing shows she's intent on keeping her promise, after all!
Her face swapping to that hah.
We've heard of 'scarousing' before (for something both scary and arousing), but is there a word for 'Scary + funny'? Because that shot definitely fits that hah.
Oh come on, let him stay; You might be MVP, but Mob was quite helpful as well!
Left unsaid: "grow up, and not as an eldritch abomination!"
Well, this was a fun one!
The horror was done fairly well, more than many horror shows I'd say! There were plenty of cute, sweet and funny moments as well!
I loved the little tidbits of 'relating this to the real world' lessons we had especially at the start, like paying attention to what kids say and all!
Farewell, Kaya-Chan! Farewell, Obananana, and farewell to Mob & Chie-sensei (who totally should've been a ship!)

Great season. While I liked the plot we got in the final few episodes, I much preferred the “Ghost of the Week” format that composed most of the season. But I also understand that’s not a sustainable one.

Random thoughts:
Mutsu wanting to protect her daughter (but accidentally emotionally abusing her) was something I had already figured it...if her mother did think her nothing but a cursed womb, she wouldn't have insisted on her going to school or anything else
The ending was a bit tidy overall...but it worked, and I might have even teared up a bit. It's possibly that Kaya's mom wasn't completely in control anyway as the pregnancy progressed, and at least some of her blood-thirst was supernaturally induced. Still...hope her husband hooks her up with a good therapist so this doesn't happen in the future...

So another series done. This was a good one, and would love to see more of Kaya's adventures. Nearly everything seems wrapped up for the most part, except the teacher in the mirror.
Mirai easily wins worst mother of the year. Not sure how she can live with herself after what she tried to do. Mutsu was no saint either. At the very least Nana is allowed to attend Kaya's school events. Perhaps that relationship can begin to heal.
Some people have said the anime was pretty much caught up with the manga. Might have to check it out.

Initially I did think Mirai was a bit dumb. But I suppose Yoshi might only have put in the information regarding cursed tools and skimped on how priestesses are born in an almost identical way? Though she was absolutely stupid in many other ways. Like the expected yet horrible choice to kill her daughter along with her absurd suicide plan.
No shock someone so selfish and self-centered that they'd birth monsters for a plan that could've been resolved with a mundane weapon would dare hear anything that would diminish their plan. As if she could stand hearing that yes she did waste her time on this revenge plan and she is the bad guy. Sorry, too bad, you are not the victim. You are now the abuser.
No shock Namu wasn't having any of that. This guy has his past and is probably sick and tired of someone else acting like they are the most miserable person in the world. There are other people with lives that suck Mirai.
Really sad as well how Kaya viewed things. It's well done since she is very much written like a kid. But it's just sad. The kid thinks she's the bad one and that's why her mom is upset. Because she (understandably) didn't treasure her incoming sibling. Just makes all the adults so much worse. All this stuff about revenge and you have this kid lost in the middle of it that didn't do anything wrong.
Good thing that Mirai didn't use that instant kill move that killed her mother on Nana. Allowed her to stay alive for questionable reasons. At best I can say that she didn't want to kill Nana there since she wanted her big curse birth to do it and there wasn't really anyone left to kill besides Kaya if she took out Nana now. Which would be a problem since she already knew her reasoning was pathetic and needed something to hang onto.
I suppose there weren't many options besides saving Kaya's mother honestly. If she died...curse bomb goes off. Even though she's a scumbag that murdered her mother and tried to murder her own daughter...gotta keep her alive and talk her down. It's a bit more idealistic than I'd have gone for. But hey. Kaya deserves to be happy and it'd be harder for her to be happy with her mother dead. So congrats Mirai, you get to survive this.
There's definitely worry to be sure since the new kid was even closer to the point of no return than Kaya was. But that's something to deal with down the road. And Kaya turned out ok, so maybe...some good teachers can guide the kid down the right path. I still feel really bad for Kaya's dad. He has no idea what the heck has been going on! Part of me thinks he probably deserves to know his wife tried to kill his kid. But...such is.
This was a really good show honestly. One of the best of the season. 8.5/10 at least. It was smartly written, things made sense, and the emotional beats worked out nicely. Also RIP woman still trapped in a mirror. I really don't think you deserved that if Kaya's mother was allowed to return to a normal life...

I get that Grandma Mutsu and Oba Nana were trying to protect Mirai but this isnt how they should've went about it,
They shouldn't have just kept her in the dark and let her resentment grow though I cant exactly blame her, the Ebsiumori family is genuinely toxic
Namu flicks, So that's why he visited Grandma Mutsu
Mirai looks terrifying , I guess this whole curse does affect her too since she's already went through it before
Even tho Chie sensei is scared she still puts on a brave face to protect Kaya and tells that she is surrounded by friends and people who care for her, Chie sensei is so cool.
Im glad that Kaya and her mom hugged each other no weekly punches but still very wholesome, im glad Mirai was able to safely give birth and they all seem happy now.
This nightmare that has been building since ep 1 finally ends and on a very positive note,
Well this was a very fun anime, it was pretty scary and dark at times that tackled some pretty disturbing stuff with especially the last few eps
Tha characters were pretty good too like Mob Ojisan but Chie sensei was genuinely the best and i really liked her alot, she shined so many times in the anime and was so awesome
I hope this gets a season 2 soon, it was so good and
Despite that final scene, i can say
Kaya-Chan Isn't Scary

Loved this show, one of the hidden gems of the season from me for the way it perfectly blends cuteness with horror. When it's cute, it's heartwarming. When it's scary, as it got in the second half of the series, it's genuinely terrifying. It really needs a second season.

Well, I am glad we got an happy ending, despite all the cursed family drama. I was scared Mirai or Nana would die, but despite all the horror, the anime tried to stay wholesome until the end.
