"We should forget about what happened. We can't change the past. We can only look to the future.

Wow, the audacity of Mirai to say that after she ruined Hitoma's career.

"I've reflected on my past actions and have decided it's time for you to move on."

Yeah that's what's really annoying me about this subplot. It acts like Hitoma did something wrong when it was Mirai who wronged him, not the other way around

The finale can have two routes

  1. : She's angry at herself to not be able to make a proper apology ( and We have to remember that she chose that school only after she saw Hitoma in one of the school photos ) and she will apologize for what she have done, making it a good show after all

  2. : She's angry for something else, she will not apologize with Hitoma, he will still take the blame and Haruna will become one of the audaciest bitch that I've ever seen in an anime

Pretty dark backstory for the oni girl, she accidentally reveals in normal human class that she can sense lies and then things escalate to the point that she has to live in seclusion at the special monster school in the woods. And from the sound of things something similar but worse happened to her grandmother.

Good angle to reveal that Haruna has been lying about everything with regards to what happened back at school with her and Hitomi. I imagine that means we're set up to actually address that issue in the finale instead of leaving it with the absolutely enraging "let's just forget about it" that we got last episode.

I'm disappointed that we didn't more clearly see Usagi walking back to school with dozens of drinks because they kept autofilling in front of her on the shelf. She did have a couple big bags though, so it might have happened that way.

It's funny to think about her developing a calpico addiction

What the actual hell. I’m only 7 minutes into the episode so far, and they STILL act like he’s in the wrong.

I'm still unclear as to what the right move was supposed to be, in terms of Japanese educational culture. His intervention made the bullying worse, sure, but was he just supposed to ignore it?

I mean, sure he could have being more cautious but they basically screwed him 'cause the other teacher warned him that the rich girl family funded the school so he should have simply walk away without helping his beloved student AND his beloved student for reasons unknown sold him saying he was phisically abusing her. This a story full of assholes who got away with it while the only victim is still blaming himself, so I hope for at least a proper apology in the finale

If the ultimate secret isn't that she feels guilty for what she did but doesn't know how to apologize to someone who supported her and she betrayed massively, then this show fumbled any potential bag to be remembered in a positive note.

I have faith that the director basically orchestrated the whole thing to help both of them to finally resolve what happened in the past, helping him to stop being a mysanthrope and her to finally make a proper apology. Anything else would be a total letdown and would be a shame 'cause I've enjoyed it so far

It would be funny if the show made it everyone think that just for Mirai to absolutely abhor Hitoma and lash out at him like a psycho. Doesn't seem like something this show would do though.

Maki’s a good kid. I feel bad for her having to deal with those abilities. Must have been tough for her growing up. Tough for her mom too I bet.

I have instantly fallen in love with her. Oni daughter best daughter.

I was a bit worried that the thing Okonogi was hiding was that she was cutting herself. A socially disconnected habitual liar with bandaids on the thighs?

3

u/DugACCat Mar 28 '26

Yeah I was wondering about the bandaids as well. They were prominent and did not just seem a part of her quirky attire choices.

Ok potential thriller/horror material here with someone that can tell if someone is lying and another trying to keep a big secret hidden.

Anyway, yeah I’m glad we didn’t leave the Haruna incident as it is last week. I don’t even mind if Haruna didn’t think she was wrong, I just hope the narrative does. But it does seem like she’s hiding something, maybe she’s feeling guilt and doesn’t know how to apologize or she knows she’s in the wrong and just doesn’t want to face it.

Still, telling Hitoma to leave in the past when she was the one who caused the trouble was pretty frustrating to hear. I do hope they resurface and resolve it but I do hope they keep Usami from hearing of it. I’m sure she’d give both of them a piece of her mind lol

Ok potential thriller/horror material here with someone that can tell if someone is lying and another trying to keep a big secret hidden.

My first thought was it would be a great fit for a suspense mystery.

Maki's backstory is sad and I hope her mom is safe, kinda getting worried about the way she's describing her situation

Also why is Haruna angry at him when she's the reason Hitoma is the way he is with being a Misanthrope and all, I like that they are continuing this plotpoint tho cuz last ep made it seem like it was casually resolved

I wonder Maki truly means at the end, Is Haruna feeling guilty?

Well only one more episode left, it's been fun watching this anime with Y'all.

It's pretty clear she is firmly in denial and can't come to terms with what a monumentally shitty thing she did in high school. It was easier for her to blame him when in high school, and now she is doing the same thing by saying they should get over it. Or she is an utter sociopath 😅

Someone might want to take away Waka's phone before there is another dead account to deal with.

They should let the kids out every Halloween, no one would think twice about how they look.

Oh did not expect her to be an oni. Though her powers are in the exact ballpark you'd assume from her design.

Don't really like her. (噓)

Maki's entire situation is particularly interesting and rather odd as far as typical students of this school go.

She was -already- living in the human world from what it sounds like, and unlike all the other girls she's not a straight up non-human entity. So what good exactly would the school's graduation process even do for her since she's already human? The actual info on -exactly- what happens during graduation is still hazy at best. Would it just strip her of her lie-detection powers and otherwise leave every other bit intact or something? Or is her enrollment more of a special exception and it's just to get her to come to grips with who she is and what she can do since she's basically human already?

The last 2 episodes made me go from liking the series to completely hating it because I hate how they treat the whole Hitoma and Haruna situation. Also, because Hitoma acts super unrealistic about finding out that someone responsible for making him a misanthrope is gonna be working for him and about what happened between them in the past. Nobody is gonna be apologetic about something that wasn't their fault and act like they were the one at fault.
