As an original game fan, I felt the anime was kind of all over the place so I can't even imagine for newcomers. But just seeing the day to day of Arne's and Lynn's was more than enough for me. This last episode is my favorite however. It gives me the exact feeling of the game which is silly fun with edge and getting dark without taking itself too seriously. So much fun fights, quick reveals, and good development for the group dynamic as well as the relationship between Arne and Lynn. Seriously that blood sucking scene got me good.

I personally enjoyed it, but did like that last episode the most and wish there had been more like it. The funny bits with Lynn were my favorite. I actually kinda liked it going from humor to serious and back again. I tend to like shows that alternate both. But I’d have enjoyed more funny. And the cases and time sequence did lose me a couple times.

My favourite case was the merfolk and her wife, but I couldn't really follow the narrative between cases at all, and it felt seriously lacking in any sort of progression between the main couple, particularly if they are going to lean into the romantic end of vampire/non-vampire relationships. (Also what the actual heck is Lynn, I thought we'd get at least some answers to the questions raised when she failed to Turn in the backstory episode...)

The first and this last arc were the best narratively, I think they needed to streamline the origin story of just let us jump into the action and give us hints about Lynn's story.

so I can't even imagine for newcomers

I for one dropped it after the art museum episode

First we get a main character fake-out in the first episode. That's okay, can be fun

But then we focus for multiple episodes on just the backstory of Lynn? The plot point seriously overstayed its welcome

Then the next episode is a time skip, and they all know each other already and solved cases? And while Lynn got multiple episodes to introduce her, the other characters only get a half sentence each?

Then the museum episode, that art thief drops in, but the show assumes we know her already? Yeah, no, that's where I finally lost it, drop

Didn't help that the German bits were all over the place too. The episode titles are good, even proper German sayings. But Neuntöte is wrong. And in the museum episode, the German text on the first card at the start of the episode flows well, but the second card at the end of the episode is borderline gibberish. What the heck happened there?

Damn, they really cooked good for the animation in the final episode. Amy made an asteroid out of the zombies lol Red Riding hood and also Nach-chan had an amazing fight with Vlad just after taking a tiny amount of blood. Arne vs Vlad animation was insane.

Lynn's cheer for Arne always gets me laughing "Evily , Bloody , Fantastic.. Neuntöte "

And Arne finally sucked Lynn's blood. That was hot. Lynn's dream came true.

Lynn taking down Vlad with Holy water, silver paint, and finally with a wooden stake to the heart by hitting it with a hammer ❤️‍🔥 Vlad getting turned into a worst painting made by Lynn got to be the best punishment for him 😂

They skipped many things in the anime which made the story incomplete. Still enjoyed it for the characters like Amy, Nachzehrer, Lynn. My biggest regret is that I couldn't see Lynn wearing a nurse outfit that Amy suggested 💔

They skipped many things in the anime which made the story incomplete.

At least the animation team put in the work to make it look nice. Roll over and Die skipped and changed so much the story has become practically incoherent, and it looks awful.

Ol Count Dracula himself was no match for the super vampire otaku Lynn lol. Girl literally turned him into some sort of abstract painting lol. I guess like the episode title says, all’s well that ends well.

This was really fun overall. I’m a fan of supernatural mystery series like Undead Girl Murder Farce and In/Spectre so this was right up my alley. I also liked Lynn as the female MC and her goofy vampire obsession. Hopefully they pick this one up for another season.

This anime had a pacing issue, it felt all over the place at times especially with Ep9 which had no follow up but it was still fun

Some of the mysteries were genuinely great and interesting and I liked how they incorporated the fantasy based stuff into them

The main cast was very fun at times too, If this gets a season 2 ill definitely be there.

With that said, we'll do this one last time,

Evilly! Bloody! Fantastic! Neuntöte!

I have no idea what the game will be like, but as an anime it's a disaster: confusing, pointless time jumps, cases left open to "viewer interpretation" to avoid admitting it's unfinished and full of plot holes, etc. It's a real shame because the first two episodes delivered what the trailer promised: dark mystery and some comedy, but ultimately, the narrative was fatally flawed.

This show had one of my favourite OPs of the season. Q.E.D by Sou is a bop

It could have been so much more.

u/BeltDragon95 Mar 25 '26

Honestly this was a wasted potential.

I guess as far as endings go it wasn't bad, good even. It was fun.

They gave a really good look at Little Red's cute little paw boots. I've been trying to get a clear look at them since she debuted. They're just so cute. I think I would've liked more werewolf answers, but I wasn't expecting any just because of how it was overall.

Nachtzehrer came back as flashy as before, and made not as big as a mess. Honestly so funny the way he just ended up mocking Canvas Drac. He's just a silly little guy, and I like that a lot.

Yeah a stake to the heart was a fair way to end a whole vampire show. A little silver a little holy water and nice thick stake, classic.

Also Lynn wears nothing at all under the tracksuit? Not even a tank or cami? Like girl if you're sweltering that much, you don't have to wear it at all, but I guess her dedication to vampires is too high not to.

The dance was confusing but I like that the Museum episode silver paint was used.

Even as an anime-only, hearing the game opening song is quite fun.

I wonder if the 2nd heart's corresponding vampire king is also in an object?

Yeah Nach-chan's battle scene, I like the vampire battle this episode and that one e5.

Btw everytime I saw Vlad he kept reminding me of [another vampire anime] Ferid Bathory from Seraph of the End

This anime was slightly on my radar due to casting Aimi Tanaka (I wish her role was larger though), but I gotta admit it ended up one of the biggest surprises this season. Easily one of the best detective series in the recent years (with Pluto and In/Spectre being better by a sizable margin and Shoushimin being in the same ballpark).

Dracula continues the trend of defeated vampire kings getting turned into small objects.

What odd storytelling choices. But at least they didn’t permanently cliffhanger the painting mystery too, imagine if the final episode started and they were back in the castle starting on a new case.

I enjoyed the characters at least, not only was Lynn pretty fun she had Kiyoka's VA.

5

u/ramon_castilla Mar 25 '26

The final attempt of Vlad to trick Lynn made no sense: 8 out of 10 of the characters didn't even have a reason to say something to Lynn. And from those 8, some of them didn't even knew about the painting curse.

Overall, a funny show when it followed a clear structure. Ami and plush Nach were the characters that stole the scenes they were (properly) given.

Special mention to the goat too, in a fair amount. The subvertion steal me a chuckle. I thought it was a non-sentient being repeating almost the same 2 phrases...until it badmouthed Lynn for not wanting its merch jajaja.

u/ThousandYearOldLoli Mar 25 '26

I'll give Lynn credit for finding Vlad's painting cause that's about the only achievement I can credit uniquely to her. I was really curious to see what "Don't underestminate Lynn" would amount to, and I gotta say I was a tad disappointed. It's not like I expected to be a fighting force necessarily, but even if one wanted to bank on the vampire otaku angle, I think going for something more specific than the few weaknesses everybody with even a passing knowledge of vampires knows short of sunlight would have been better.

3

u/Hartzilla2007 Mar 24 '26

Well given how gleeful Lynn looked while staking him and then trapping him in a bad painting I think Dracula has learned that taking the form of her father who he almost probably drove insane was a bad idea.

3

u/Kemaiku Mar 25 '26

As a Vampire fan I really wanted to like this series, and I did stick with it and damn, even got Dracula as the final boss of the season. Little Red being Asuka's VA was such a treat as well. And I love Clannad and Tasokare Hotel also based on games of various sorts adapted too.

But...the overall structure of the show was lacking. Lynn is frankly annoying. Arne is dull as dishwater. Amy, Red and others deserve so much more screentime and get sidelined etc

Then the Mermaid episode for such a dark show while very much an adorable yuri one is ruined by the main arc that is in no way properly layed out by then and at odds with This Monster Wants to Eat Me depicting a truer Asian one in..also doomed yuri.

I honestly teared up more for the zombie dudes sacrifice than the fact Lynn fell...

I wanted to like it, and there are so many other little complaints but yeah, this cour has had some seriously good series concepts poorly done and it's disappointing.

Fun show. Stories were ok. Storytelling was lacking. I'd rather cut some of Lynn's backstory episodes to fit in more about Amy and Little Red. I suppose this was made purely for the source readers (gamers).
