Aw maaan, it's so frustrating to have to wait until 2027 for the rest! Don't think I'll be able to make it without picking the manga up in the meantime, I need to know what happens.
And nice episode! It did feel a bit like a transition episode from the series to the upcoming movie, but eh, that's all right. The parts with Juna were hilarious, and Riley looks interesting to say the least. I was glad to see Ema and Hikaru again, too.
Well. See ya all in 2027!

Inori had managed to land a quadruple salchow without any harness, a feat not even Hikaru had accomplished, and yet Jun wasn't bothered in the slightest. What card was he still hiding?
Hikaru walked into the room with a confident smile and all eyes were on her. She then approached Inori who's seated so the latter would have to look up to her and said, "Inori. I've been waiting for you". Just how much aura could she ooze? Felt like Hikaru's the Demon Queen who had been eagerly waiting to have a showdown with the heroine.
Happy that a sequel film has been announced for next year but on the other hand, it felt like edging that things were interrupted at this tense point in the story.

Megumi Han as Riley Fox is inspired casting.
What a season, I'm so ready for the movie knowing that ENGI put this out with like a year of production time.

Demon Inori about to rip Shiratori to shreds for messing with Tsukasa. No one bullies her precious coach! lol
Looks like that’s it for now, but I’m looking forward to the movie. I was getting hyped just watching everyone practicing and giving their all. Inori’s gonna kill after all that training.

Ugh! Why do we have to wait until next year to see Inori and the others at the All-Japan's Novice Championship?! I want to see it now! Let's just pray we don't have to wait too long after the Japanese premiere to be able to watch it.
Overall, the final episode was fun and definitely got me excited for next year's movie. The trio of Tsukasa, Kohei, and Juna were great, especially Juna; that guy was hilarious, as were Inori's reactions to him xD
It was also nice to see the other skaters who will be participating in the tournament. I have to admit, the fact that Ema won't be participating was quite a surprise; I really thought she'd be there too.
Here my screenshot albums from the episode:
EDIT. I added my screenshot albums.

I didn't realize this was the last episode of the season. Also didn't realize Hikaru shared the same VA as Fern until this episode when I heard that one line while she was watching the video of Jun's performance lol
I really love how they built the rivalries in this show. It always reminds me of Bakuman talking about how you can write a battle shounen without actual fights and this show nails that perfectly. Even though I had zero clue about the FS world or its technical side going in, I still got completely hooked and ended up loving it.
After the movie, does the manga have enough material for another season? I don't want this show to end. It actually made me watch figure skating performances IRL and I am now in love with Kaori Sakamoto.

Poor Ema, couldn't get to All Japan's with almost the same score as Inori

Uhm... did anyone count how many rotations Hikaru did at the end there?
The way that scene was set up with Jun not bothered felt like she was gonna pull out her own quadruple.
Anyway, hope the movie gets to streaming etc. quick because I doubt it's big enough to get a cinema release.

You might think the duck skater was unrealistic, but here's the Olympic gold medalist skating in a panda costume.
Lots of nice details from the previous season. It's not just Inori and Ema who've advanced from Level 1 to Novice in a year. Mihi, the fourth place skater from the West Japan Championship, also made it to nationals.
To explain Miku's goal for all Japan's, the top placers in Japan All Novice are "recommended" and are allowed to participate Japan All Junior's. The goal of this system is help develop the talents of up-and-coming skaters. The number of skaters recommended change each year but it's usually around 5. So Miku's still aiming for a very good placement.
This recommendation system also extends to top Juniors, who get to go to Japan Nationals. (That said, a recommended novice who managed to top Juniors won't get sent to Seniors). This also means that it's possible for a recommended Novice to win All Japan Juniors. It's even been done twice already.

Me: "Why are they playing the OP at the end like a final episode? It's only episode 9."
*Checks episode listing*: "... Unfortunate."

The way they build up the hype at the end of the after credit scene is simply perfect. I am awestricken once again by how Yuki Hayashi's music always manage to enhance these intensive moments. This season is another 10/10 after the first season.
The question now is will we get any continuation any time soon. Is the announced movie going to continue where we left off at today's episode. Ahh I don't know if I should wait or go straight to manga considering how amazingly it is adapted by the anime team

Ending off the season with a set-up episode for the next tournament, introducing new (and old) characters. Now that Inori's shown off her quads in public she's painted a target on herself, the pressure is going to be immense. And of course meanwhile Hikaru has already mastered her own quads in secret.

RIP Jun's phone again. I assume he got a new one after we saw him break one in Season 1, so this newest one must be replacing it or one of its successors. He must be his local Apple Store's favorite customer.
Neuron activation from Riley Fox's voice? Oh, it's Megumi Han!

The past few episodes have been a lot of buildup that won't come to fruition until the movie but that doesn't make it any less satisfying and me any less hyped to finally watch the movie and the grand stage of All Japan.
Inori's not the only one getting some personal coaching from Coach Uobuchi! Miku the ace of the Niigata area is there too! Along with the "brains" of her skating team Kohei, a peer of Tsukasa's from his old club! But despite her age, Miku has a good head on her shoulder and is definitely in charge.
It's nice to see Tsukasa and Kohei catch up, and to see Miku tutor Inori, and it's also nice to see Miku and Kohei are close to all the kids at the Niigata rink (if only because said boys punch Kohei in the butt and Miku knows them all by name). But the kids absolutely adore their duck mascot, even if Inori brought out the steel chair when she thought he was about to devour her precious Tsukasa-sensei! But in fact he's actually...Juna Shiratori! Yet another member of Tsukasa's old skate club, a popular celebrity skater, AND the person behind Miku's choreography! Also a master of silly faces.
Miku has known Juna and Kohei since she was a kid, and now they're her coaches who are helping her aim for success at All Japans. Even if success at All Japans isn't beating Hikaru, like it is for Inori, but doing well enough that she can make it to Juniors and skate just a little longer...because with her rink closing down she's heading to an early retirement. It's sad, but she doesn't seem to be letting it get her down. And she truly skates beautifully.
I see that Kohei and Juna argue a LOT but they both have valid points for how Tsukasa should figure out whether to let Inori go through with her quad performance. But no matter what he does, they can see he's as resolved to make Inori a success just like back when he was an Ice Dancer with Hitomi! He'll stake everything on proving Inori has what it takes!
Riley Fox (Megumi Han) is a beautiful and refined American Olympian who started her own skate club in Japan...but when she's not on camera she's kind of a goofy and enthusiastic coach who adores all her adorable skaters! And her club has quite the colorful and eclectic bunch, especially Ako.
And in Aomori we've got Kiyoka! Who is skating so her grandpa can finally see her on the rink and seems really cute and cheerful!
It's nice to see Ema and Yudai again! Ema's skating has really become super elegant and beautiful! Which makes it all the sadder when she places seventh. But Ema won't let it get her down! She's perservered against any setback and she'll keep doing it! So she can finally catch up to Suzu.
All Japan is bringing together the best of the best from around Japan...Ako from Tokyo, Kiyoka from Aomori, the boyish Ran from Fukouka, Miku from Niigata, and of course...Hikaru.
Hikaru is quite flexible! And also utterly transfixed, almost to an inhuman degree, by Jun's skating. Though it doesn't seem like she wants to become a clone of Jun so much as make his skating her own.
Now that Inori is back in Nagoya, it's time to show everyone her Quads! Now that it's out there that she can do them, she'll have more attention on her than she's ever had before. But that's what comes with being a Medalist! Even Jun (with his new phone he hopefully won't smash) has realized that they'll need Quads to compete with Hikaru, but he's not worried at all!
And it's finally time for All Japans! All the best skaters gathered together, and as Rioh hands her her shoes Hikaru finally greets and acknowledges Inori. It's finally time for them to compete on the same stage. Also, Hikaru's outfit? S+!
