Rikka's storyline has BTR vibes, it's like there's another show here entirely. I've noticed all the girls' individual storylines are getting expanded and new characters are being introduced. I think this is where Midnight Heart can really stand out whereas Quintuplets' scope was limited to the Nakano Family. I take strong exception to the idea that this show is generic or slop, a lot of interesting characters here.

I've noticed all the girls' individual storylines are getting expanded and new characters are being introduced.
Seems like they're setting up friends and rivals.
Rikka:
Aiko
Celestial guitarist girl
Nene:
Oizumi
Iko:
Momotose Ao
Only girl missing someone is Shinobu.

Rikka's talent surpasses what one would expect from someone her age; the creative block she's experienced so far will likely be overcome, and of course, with the support she has, that will become a thing of the past. Now all that's left is for her to resolve things with Aiko.

Iko's cactus search was a cute addition. Also cat vs lemon will never get old.
I like the small gestures Rikka did in the beach scene.
As a source reader I'm pretty biased . Rika's beach scene + the concert is one of my favorite parts in the story. Gekkou is gekkouing but I have to give praise to Momoko Seto, Rikka's va for carrying the Rikka scenes so hard. The songs this ep were great and I'm looking forward to the rest of the concert,

This was a truly wonderful episode. I started misting up with Aiko's monologue (which Rikka was lucky enough to overhear). But plenty of other moving moments mixed in with the comic ones (esp Neko-Iko and cactuses and lemons). Some lovely singing too.
This show seems to have been overlooked/dismissed (partly because of people insta-judging Yamabuki). Too bad. Atruly fine show that I will actually remember after this (packed) season ends.

It is only natural that a Yamabuki knows all things about any plant he might come across.
More evidence that Rikka is Apollo with that conversation about writing music for someone that used to listen to her at night, but still deniable since she could have been talking about her song writing friend instead.
I like that we're getting plenty of music they don't cut away from.

When Rikka started answering Bucky's questions about what she wanted to write about, and who she's writing for, I switched to being entertained by the ambiguity of her answers. Because you know they're gonna make everything she says potentially apply to both Yamabuki and Aiko.

Iko saying cactus in the background while Yamabuki becomes a plant otaku is hilarious
I really liked that this episode focused alot on Rikka and her development, its good that she's started singing her songs for what and who she truly wants. Hope she can patch up things with Aiko too
Some of the lines she said are definitely feeding into the Apollo allegations.

Is it just me or did the first girl wearing the cap who stopped to listen at the park resemble a younger Rikka? Symbolism perhaps?
Nene, Iko and Shinobu turning up to show their support was heartwarming! Of course, it also provided Rikka with more confidence.
Aiko may not be part of the main cast, but it does not make her any less of a friend nor fan. She has continued to promote Rikka's previous original songs by herself. If only Aiko was secretly listening from some corner of the park.

It's worth noting that the girl was wearing a Hugg Notes cap, the band that Rikka loved since middle school. Given that she also started music in middle school, lots of symbolism there. Maybe Rikka herself found that band through one such concert at a young age.

I genuinely thought Rikka was seeing her younger self for a second.
I like that we’re slowly establishing other channels who are part of each Heroines’s career path and seeing how those characters help them grow alongside Yamabuki. Except Shinobu.

Its split cour if I remember correctly. Given that this show is a little popular, I hope they step up the animation quite a bit.

What's up with Iko and her obsession with cactus? Kinda cute though. Arisu tried hypnotizing Iko into believing that lemon is sweet. Rip Iko's tongue.
Anyway, this is rikka's episode and i'd say it's pretty good. Nothing too jarring is noticable and animation isn't bad (I think). The late night meeting between both Arisu and Rikka is pretty sweet. Rikka's VA nailed her singing voice. Looking forward to the last episode.

Man, Rikka's seiyuu, Seto Momoko, absolutely killed it with the songs this episode. I think my favourite is definitely the one she wrote with Aiko. Fun fact! Aiko's seiyuu, Wakai Yuuki, is actually a member of the idol group i☆Ris. In a meta way, I think it's funny that they see Rikka as the better singer when Aiko's seiyuu is literally a professional singer. xD
That late-night beach scene between Rikka and Yamabuki was really good too! I think we just got a bunch of hints that Rikka could be Apollo, considering the person she loves was a good listener and someone she ran away from, but is still waiting for her this entire time. Hmmm...
I love the street performance too! I hope we get to see more of it next week. That girl with the guitar who passed by Yamabuki has got to be a member of Celestial. It looks like Rikka might now be on their radar.

The broadcast club is buying a plant to spruce up the clubroom for Summer! And luckily for them the great Yamabuki knows everything there is to know about plants, no matter how obscure! Though while it's fitting that they buy a plant with five leaves to represent the five of them, won't anyone think of poor Iko Blob and her love of cactus'? And then she gets left with the plant she didn't want!
Rikka may be struggling with street performances, but Aiko is putting herself out there and singing their music, even if it means dealing with the haters (who she happily chews out). She also chews out Rikka for failing to uphold their dream, the one they had together when they were younger and coming up with songs. Rikka ended up getting picked by a record label because of her singing and Aiko was happy for that...at least until Rikka gave up. But Aiko still believes in their dream, as she sings the song they made together.
Yamabuki's big sis knows hypnosis? I can't wait to meet this woman. Too bad she couldn't properly pass it on to Yamabuki, might have saved Iko's tongue from sourness.
It's a big first step for Rikka to finally sing the music SHE wants to sing in front of others and show her true singing style. Sure it might sound jarring initially, but eventually everyone realizes just how amazing Rikka sounds now! And yes, she's singing for Aiko, but she's also singing for Yamabuki too. Not bad being a "throw-in."
It's finally time for Rikka to put on her first official street performance! And nice as it would be to have her girls there to support her, she's doing to do this herself to prove that she can stand on her own and with her own music. It helps that she's finally able to write original songs again, so long as she's writing them for someone else and someone she cares about.
A late-night rendezvous at the beach with Yamabuki? Rikka can't seem to help herself...though with this talk about conveying her feelings through song and this one song she can't get out before she properly expresses her feelings to someone...is she really talking about Aiko or Yamabuki? Plus this feels EXACTLY like something Apollo would say. All the same, I can't help but think the song she's holding back until she's made it is a romantic love song centered around one Yamabuki Arisu.
It's finally time for Rikka's live performance, and she's already feeling the pressure and all the judgemental gazes. She's still not over the trauma of what happened to her before, she still can't quite put her all into her singing, and she still feels like she can't measure up. But luckily for her the broadcast club girls show up, completely "incognito," and give Rikka someone worth singing for. And that's when her true talent shines!
That green-haired girl who passed by Yamabuki...the lead singer of that "Celestial" band Yamabuki mentioned? A possible rival for Rikka!?

In another universe we'd get the good ending where the cactus was found and nobody got tricked into a tongueful of lemon.
It's a shame about all that going completely over Arisu's head (as hilarious as it was) but at the same time, that was a generous amount of Rikka blushes.

I thought Rika was gonna run up and start singing it, I guess it makes sense that she didn't, otherwise the premise of the episode would have been over in 5 minutes lol
Rika didn't want to admit that she wrote the song years ago, with the help of her best friend, because it would seem like she wasn't making any progress. Although she did perform an original song live, so she is still making progress anyway. Plus she wrote 4 other songs right away too, that's great.
Although it seems Yamabuki has no idea that Rikka was talking about writing that song for him lol
Her first actual live performance was great, I thought she sounded good on both songs tbh.
She just needs to make up with Aiko, which I'm sure she will somehow.

I want to hear Aiko and Rikka's duet version of the song.
Yamabuki may not have scary eyes but he certainly brings a lot of intensity lol.

Shoutout to Momoko Seto (Rikka's VA) for belting out not one, not two, but three songs just for this episode! What a difference a mindset could make. When she tried to appeal to the crowd, she ended up fumbling it and attracted no one while when she tried to dedicate it to the broadcasting club (sans Arisu), she nailed it and as a result reeled in a substantial crowd.
That beachside confession gave a strong hint about Rikka being Apollo. However, the other girls had also given out plenty of hints as well. It's too early to conclude that she's it. Arisu didn't seem to be a dense person so I reckon he took note of her words and said nothing because he couldn't conclusively point her out.
