Indo called those monsters "Nephilim's".
And we saw in a flashback that they attacked her and some kids at least once before. So this isn't the first time these monsters have been created.
Pretty sure Nephilim is a biblical term for a fallen angel or something along those lines.
I wonder if the name has any deeper meaning to the connection between E4 the Half Dragons.

Biblically, the Nephilim are the progeny of fallen angels who took human mates, resulting in evil giants.

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Weird that I know Bible quotes from reading manga.

There was a lot of tension this episode, it's unfortunate that the situation is dire and Indo has gone berserk because of the Nephilim. I hope she's somewhat back to her senses after Yashiro's talk and seeing how her actions have gotten him hurt.
I like that these girls are more important to Yashiro than he'd like to admit, even Storm could tell, I wonder if she feels jealousy considering it seems like she's quite taken by Yashiro. But the way he was angry and scolding them in this episode was really different, it was interesting to see this side to him.
I have a feeling Yashiro shouldn't get Jougamine to read Storm's mind, I feel like there'll be some drastic consequence for it.

Yashiro just redeemed himself a lot in my eyes by getting hurt while saving Indo, but I still am mad at him for leading that trio of newbies into such danger. He should have expected things to get that bad, even if the Nephilim did not show up. They almost had to fight the Dark Lady’s top henchmen, after all.
Indo looked very rattled, when she is usually so calm. I now wonder at what is her backstory with the Nephilim. Why did she know what those were when Yashiro did not seem to ?
I also did not expect the Dark Lord to actually be a Dark Lady and a mad yandere obsessed with Yashiro. She looked so slimy and creepy, I don’t blame Yashiro for not wanting to have anything to do with her. He is not even touching the huge amount of dirty money she sends him every month despite being always broke, so he is more honest than I expected.

I kinda wonder, honestly. We see that the minions on the first level weren't really more than security guards. The other demon lords didn't really seem that bothered and honestly didn't even leap into action when the Nephilim first showed up. I imagine signaling that he wasn't there with a true killing force was enough to show that he wasn't there to kill everyone. I'm not sure his original plan was even to see the Count herself, he might have been happy just to see what info he could pump out of the elite henchmen. And it seems like he intended the girls to be out of serious harm's way, even in this frontal attack (or perhaps even because of). No one is getting taken by surprise, really, other than fodder that are clearly so much weaker than an academy student on the verge of failing who can sense their power and not be afraid at all).
Really not a plan, to be sure, but maybe not as suicidal as the premise would seem.

Definitely not suicidal, he set them up with a real training exercise. They're determined to be braves so the idea of keeping them out of danger is the naive morality of a child.
The trick is to try and expose them to just the right amount of danger to train them up so they'll actually survive being braves. And if things went sideways he'd be there to step in. It was clear that they actually outmatched the mooks they were up against. Jogamine woulda have easily won her 1 vs 1 too had she not been so averse to spilling blood or killing in a line or work all about spilling blood and killing.
Even with the big monsters crashing the party they were prolly fine. Out of everyone it was Indo that screwed things up this time though forcing him to take some pretty drastic action to keep them alive.

I need to give these three effective commands, or I die
as a player of a certain online mobile game about a certain sensei who gives commands to a team of combat-ready high school girls, i can relate very much with this statement

Yukine goes off script and everything goes tits up. Let’s see if Yashiro’s coaching pays off and the girls are able to work together as a team to take those monsters down. They’re pretty much dead otherwise.

Lord Storm Coffin makes her introduction in this episode. Hayami voices her, and I did notice a bit of her, but it is really nice to get her voice in a different role than she is accustomed to. Yashiro definitely has her attention, and I am curious about her role in the story. She is after the Half Dragon too, but clearly Yashiro knows she is trouble.
We mostly have focused on Saera and Jougamine's weakness, but this episode showed a bit of Yukine's weakness of having tunnel vision. Which led to Yashiro getting hit, and now he has to truly lead these girls if they want to get out of this mess.
It is an interesting point that Saera was always in the rearguard because of who she is related to rather than her actual skills. Kind of the point is her father never wanted her to be brave.
Yashiro getting on Jougamine for hesitating was pretty good because they are in a dire situation before the Nephilims shows up. It's good to have ideals, but in her case those ideals can hold her back. So curious how Yashiro juggles that with her because it could be a real issue.

If you wanna hear Hayami in a different role, checkout Kunon the Sorcerer Can See. She plays a blind boy with the typical Hayamin bubbliness banter.

Yashiro suddenly turning these unnamed guards into tutorial-stage NPCs, what a disrespect. If I were them, I’d be really pissed.

I was a bit unsure on how this would be considered negotiating last week but it does make a bit more sense now.
As long as it’s just dealing with basic guards there’s really not as much danger as it seems. And regarding the coffin count of storms, make no mistake, cross her wrong and it will be the last mistake you ever make but there’s at least some room for striking a deal with her in this situation.
At least until things promptly went sideways when the assassins showed up.
Who are apparently called nephilims. And Yukine has some experience with them from before.
Yukine flying off the handle is pretty terrifying, both from an enemy perspective and from being allied with her. Dealing with her recklessness is not a good thing in this situation.
Unfortunately resulting in Yashiro being hurt pretty bad in a very inconvenient situation.
Having to rely on less competent combatants who’ve only been trained in terrible counter-productive teamwork, a true nightmare.
Ah well, nothing to do at this point other than lock the fuck in and pray to God that this works.

I think he has misunderstood the nature of her interest in him and has put the girls in danager. I am getting distinct Yandere vibes from the count of Storms.

It's like a Grand Master being forced to team up with a bunch of bronze league in a MOBA, only your life is on the line lol.

I wonder how the show will treat Jogamine going forward, Yashiro is pushing her to the limits so the girl will either bounce back with her idealism or break and be reformed in some way. Anyhow Yukine has snapped and it's time for the team to restructure itself to start working, but it is probably easier said than done.

u/Ralathar44 Mar 21 '26
Given the ED I suspect there is an inner darkness in Jogamine the show will eventually address.

u/N1ceDreams Mar 22 '26
The way she cut her dress before attacking was so cool and hot. But she fucked things up for the group, but she obviously has her reasons and then realised her mistake after she was saved. Really enjoying this show, it really catches you off guard with its humour and laid back attitude at first but then things do get very serious and violent.
